Compared with separate solar or wind generation, the hybrid wind-solar-hydro renewable portfolio can achieve better generation characteristics due to their temporal-spatial complementarities. This paper proposes optimal portfolio of wind-solar-hydro hybrid renewable generation based on variable speed pumped storage (VSPS). In this portfolio, the complementarities of hydro-solar-wind hybrid renewable energy sources (RESs) are fully exploited via various conversion and storage devices for zero carbon 100% renewable supplies. Compared to traditional fixed speed pumped storage (FSPS), the VSPS has obvious advantages in power regulation and renewable accommodation, which is comprehensively modeled to capture its dynamic operational dispatchability and flexibility. The portfolio production, conversion, storage, and consumption are formulated via a two-stage framework, which takes the minimum system investment cost as the objective function. Case studies on southwest China are performed to show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed methodology on cost-effective accommodation.

Due to the rapid growth of online education worldwide, assessing the learning effectiveness of students during online classes has become increasingly challenging for teachers. In this paper, a method of assessing online education effect based on YOLOv8 and Vision Transformer is proposed. Firstly, the drowsiness state of students in an online teaching unconstraint environment is estimated by using YOLOv8, and then the gaze direction of awake students is estimated by using Vision Transformer to assess the students' attention levels during online education. The results from YOLOv8 are determined based on the calculated probabilities of drowsiness or wakefulness. And then gaze estimation method proposed in this paper was compared with state-of-the-art methods on the MPIIFaceGaze and Gaze360 datasets in which the angular errors of gaze estimation are 4.58° and 12.27°, respectively. We conducted experiments and analysis on a self-made dataset, from which the results demonstrate the feasibility of our method in an unconstrained environment.

In dynamic optimization problems where optimal solutions change over time, traditional ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithms face limitations. This study explores the adaptation of multi-colony ACO algorithms, known for their enhanced search capabilities in stationary problems, to tackle optimization problems in dynamic environments. Various strategies for exchanging information between colonies, which is a critical factor influencing algorithm performance, are investigated. Using the dynamic traveling salesman problem as a foundation, we generate test cases to reflect real-world complexities. Our results on a set of problem instances reveal that the choice of communication strategy between colonies significantly impacts the adaptability and efficiency of multi-colony ACO algorithms in tracking moving optimum.

In this paper, the preassigned-time synchronization (PTS) problem for a fifth-order memristive chaotic circuit (MCC) is investigated by designing a time-dependent intermittent controller. First, the dynamic characteristics of the MCC, especially the existence and occurrence of chaos, are investigated by simulation experiments. Besides, the stability of the equilibrium points is discussed by using Routh-Hurwitz criterion. Then, a time-dependent intermittent controller is designed and the PTS of MCC is realized via the presented controller. Finally, the effectiveness of theoretical results is verified by means of numerical simulations.
