In this paper, the master-slave synchronization issue of chaotic Lur’ e systems with time-varying-delay feedback control is investigated. Firstly, the synchronization problem of chaotic system is transformed into the stability problem of chaotic synchronization error system, which is studied based on Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) method. Secondly, a novel augmented LKF with more cross terms that related to time-varying delay is proposed. Based on the application of the relaxation integral inequality and the reciprocally convex matrix inequality, an improved synchronization criterion is derived by using the cubic function negative-determination lemma. Finally, a numerical simulation example demonstrates the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed methods.

This paper investigates the consensus tracking problem of leader-follower multi-agent systems. Different from most existing works, dynamics of all the agents are assumed completely unknown, whereas some input-output data about the agents are available. It is well known from the Willems et al. Fundamental Lemma that when inputs of a linear time-invariant (LTI) system are persistently exciting, all possible trajectories of the system can be represented in terms of a finite set of measured input-output data. Building on this idea, the present paper proposes a purely data-driven distributed consensus control policy which allows all the follower agents to track the leader agent’s trajectory. It is shown that for a linear discrete-time multi-agent system, the corresponding controller can be designed to ensure the global synchronization with local data. Even if the data are corrupted by noises, the proposed approach is still applicable under certain conditions. Numerical examples corroborate the practical merits of the theoretical results.

A Novel Brain-Inspired Hierarchical Perception-Association Circuit Based on Memristor Arrays

In the brain, primary sensory cells can efficiently perceive multimodal stimuli, and then associative memory cells perform an advanced bidirectional associative memory function with perceived information. Here, a brain-inspired hierarchical perception-association circuit based on memristor arrays is proposed. Firstly, a memristive reservoir computing circuit is designed to simulate a low-level perceptual function, which mainly comprises dynamic analog reservoirs, memristor arrays, and analog integrators, enabling efficient spatio-temporal information processing. Secondly, a spiking bidirectional associative memory memristive circuit, as the core of the whole circuit, is proposed to mimick a high-level associative function, which mainly consists of memristor arrays, current amplifiers, and leaky integrate-and-fire neuron circuits, implementing multimodal associative learning. The simulation results in LTspice show that the modified neuron circuit exhibits 66× improvement in energy efficiency, and the proposed circuit can precisely perform the letter association and vision-audio association tasks in a spiking fashion with an average firing energy consumption of 230 pJ/spike, which has a great potential to be embedded in mobile robotic platforms. © 2023, The Authors. An improved method for spectral reflectance reconstruction from the RGB response of the digital camera is proposed by deep convolution neural network. The proposed method learns a fusion mapping theory that represents the basic characteristics of spectral reflectance, including spectral nonlinear mapping and spatial similarity. The deep residual network greatly deepens the network structure and improves the performance of the model, enabling the recovery network to make full use of the sample structure information to accurately recover the spectral reflectance. The performance of the method is compared with several existing methods in the cases of the same experimental data set. Experimental results show that the proposed method has the best accuracy in estimating spectral reflectance and colorimetric values in most cases in comparison with existing methods. © 2020 ACM.

This brief addresses the time-varying formation control problem with collision avoidance for second-order multi-agent systems. By taking both distances and velocities between agents into account, a novel collision avoidance scheme is proposed on the basis of conventional distance-based artificial potential field methods. Compared with the latter, the proposed scheme can more accurately determine possible collision situations and thus significantly reduce possible collision areas, which consequently not only can reduce energy consumption, but also has as few adverse effects on formation maintenance as possible. Then a time-varying formation control protocol is designed so as to achieve zero steady-state position and velocity formation tracking errors without collision. Finally, theoretical analysis, numerical demonstration, as well as comparative simulation are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) determines RNA expression at single-cell resolution. It provides a powerful tool for studying immunity, regulation, and other life activities of cells. However, due to the limitations of the sequencing technique, the scRNA-seq data are represented with sparsity, which contains missing gene values, i.e., zero values, called dropout. Therefore, it is necessary to impute missing values before analyzing scRNA-seq data. However, existing imputation computation methods often only focus on the identification of technical zeros or imputing all zeros based on cell similarity. This study proposes a new method (SFAG) to reconstruct the gene expression relationship matrix by using graph regularization technology to preserve the high-dimensional manifold information of the data, and to mine the relationship between genes and cells in the data, and then uses a method of averaging the clustering results to fill in the identified technical zeros. Experimental results show that SFAG can help improve downstream analysis and reconstruct cell trajectory. © 2024, CC BY.

In order to improve the dynamic performance of the underdriven crane system, an improved linear active disturbance rejection controller (LADRC) based on the new error was proposed. The improved LADRC takes the error value between the disturbance and its observed value multiplied by a coefficient as the basis for adjusting the linear extended state observer (LESO). The improved method has two advantages. Firstly, the new error can prevent the traditional LESO from choosing larger parameter adjustment disturbances, which will limit the performance of the observer. Secondly, the pole can be configured by adjusting the coefficient to obtain better dynamic characteristics. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation and experiment. The proposed method can effectively restrain the swing of the payload and it is robust to system parameters perturbation as well.

Aiming at the problems containing complex working conditions, modeling difficulties and long-time delay of thermoelectric cooler temperature control system, an improved ADRC control method combining ADRC and Smith predictor is proposed in this paper. ADRC deals with the disturbances and uncertain dynamics in the system, SP compensates the time delay to improve the control performance. Compared with the traditional PID controller, the proposed control method has faster response speed and stronger anti-disturbance ability, meanwhile, overcomes the dependence of Smith predictor on object parameters to a certain extent. Through simulation and experimental verification, a good control effect is obtained, which provides a positive guidance of the related application of thermoelectric cooler.

This work investigates the active suppression of stick-slip vibration based on the multi-modal analysis and equivalent-input-disturbance (EID) method. By building a lumped parameter model with a high degree of freedom, the multi-modal properties of the vibration are examined. The multi-modal disturbance signals of the drilling string system are analyzed using the variational modal decomposition method. The EID method is used to design a vibration suppression controller. The parameters in the EID method are adjusted based on the primary modal frequencies to obtain the equivalent disturbance at the appropriate frequency. According to the simulation results, the proposed approach improves the effectiveness of active vibration suppression of the drill string, which is of some significance in guiding the drilling operation.

Dynamic facial expression recognition (DFER) in the wild has received widespread attention recently. There are complex factors such as face occlusion and pose variation in the wild. Facial expression recognition has a subtle competition between capturing local features of a human face and obtaining a global feature representation. This paper proposes an end-to-end DFER network GAT-Net based on the grid attention module and Transformer, which improves the robustness and accuracy of DFER in the wild. Specifically, GAT-Net is divided into two components: spatial feature extraction and temporal feature processing. The grid attention module of the spatial feature extraction component guides the network to pay attention to the local salient features of the face, which reduces the interference of field occlusion and non-frontal poses. The Transformer in the temporal feature processing component guides the network to learn the temporal relationship of high-level semantic features and the global representation of facial expression features. These two components balance the subtle competition between local features and global feature representations of facial expressions. The ablation experiment has proved the effectiveness of the grid attention module and Transformer. Experiments demonstrate that our GAT-Net outperforms state-of-the-art methods on DFEW and AFEW benchmarks with accuracies of 67.53%, and 50.14% respectively.
