In this paper, we propose a novel convolutional neural network based on boundary-guided and region-aware (BGRA-Net) for breast tumor segmentation in ultrasound images. In particular, in the encoding stage, we propose a boundary-guided module (BGM) to guide the learning of boundary features in the decoding stage by explicitly strengthening the extracted boundary information. Meanwhile, in the decoding stage, we propose a region-aware module (RAM) to integrate different levels of detailed and semantic features to improve the comprehensive representation of tumor regional features. Besides, a scale-adaptive module (SAM) is further proposed to capture the characteristics of tumors with different sizes between the encoding and decoding stages. To evaluate the effectiveness of our BGRA-Net, we conduct extensive experiments on the UDIAT dataset and compare it with eight state-of-the-art methods. The experimental results show that our BGRA-Net outperforms the state-of-the-art methods and can achieve accurate segmentation of breast tumors with ambiguous boundaries. © 2021 IEEE.

Self-distillation Augmented Masked Autoencoders for Histopathological Image Classification

Self-supervised learning (SSL) has drawn increasing attention in histopathological image analysis in recent years. Compared to contrastive learning which is troubled with the false negative problem, i.e., semantically similar images are selected as negative samples, masked autoencoders (MAE) building SSL from a generative paradigm is probably a more appropriate pre-training. In this paper, we introduce MAE and verify the effect of visible patches for histopathological image understanding. Moreover, a novel SD-MAE model is proposed to enable a self-distillation augmented MAE. Besides the reconstruction loss on masked image patches, SD-MAE further imposes the self-distillation loss on visible patches to enhance the representational capacity of the encoder located shallow layer. We apply SD-MAE to histopathological image classification, cell segmentation and object detection. Experiments demonstrate that SD-MAE shows highly competitive performance when compared with other SSL methods in these tasks. © 2022, CC BY-NC-SA.

Biselection (feature and sample selection) enhances the efficiency and accuracy of machine learning models when handling large-scale data. Fuzzy rough sets, an uncertainty mathematics model known for its excellent interpretability, are widely used in machine learning, particularly for feature selection. While the consistent matrix has significantly improved the computational efficiency and scalability of feature selection, like most fuzzy rough set-based methods, it focuses only on feature selection and seldom incorporates sample selection. This feature-centric approach can limit classification performance, particularly in noisy and large-scale datasets where both features and samples require judicious selection. To overcome these limitations, this article explores the integration of sample selection with feature selection. First, we introduce a β-consistent granulation method to generate more accurate and concise fuzzy information granules, reducing the impact of noisy samples. In addition, a novel membership function is employed to distinguish noise while simultaneously evaluating both features and samples. As a result, a biselection algorithm with linear computation complexity is proposed to select high-quality features and samples. Numerical experiments demonstrate that, compared to eleven representative algorithms, our proposed method achieves an average accuracy improvement of 9.66% and a 933-fold increase in efficiency. © 2025 IEEE.

In this work, we investigate [110] symmetric tilt FCC grain boundaries (GBs) by a recently developed approach for quasiperiodic interfaces using the Landau-Brazovskii model. On special tilt angles associated with quadratic algebraic numbers, quasiperiodic GBs exhibit generalized Fibonacci substitution rules. The transition mechanism from quasiperiodic GBs to periodic GBs is explored through sphere offsets and spectral coalescence. We also propose an accurate method to calculate the GB energy for arbitrary tilt angle and analyze the factors affecting the GB energy. The revealing GB energy change is continue along with tilt angle except periodic GBs. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

High-Accurate and Eﬀicient Numerical Algorithms for the Self-Consistent Field Theory of Liquid-Crystalline Polymers

In this paper, we develop and investigate numerical methods for the self-consistent field theory (SCFT) of liquid crystalline polymers. Both the Flory-Huggins interaction potential and the Maier-Saupe orientational interaction are considered, enabling simultaneous exploration of microphase separation and liquid crystalline order in these systems. The main challenge in numerically solving this complex system lies in solving 6-dimensional (3D spatial + 2D orientation + 1D time) partial differential equations and performing nonlinear iterations to optimize the fields. We present ten numerical algorithms for solving high-dimensional PDEs and give an evaluation criterion of choosing the most appropriate PDE solver both from theoretical and numerical performance. Results demonstrate that coupling the fourth-order Runge-Kutta scheme with Fourier pseudo-spectral methods and spherical harmonic transformations is superior compared to other algorithms. We develop two nonlinear iteration schemes, alternating direction iteration method and Anderson mixing method, and design an adaptive technique to enhance the stability of the Anderson mixing method. Moreover, the cascadic multi-level (CML) technique further accelerates the SCFT computation when applied to these iteration methods. Meanwhile, an approach to optimize the computational domain is developed. To demonstrate the power of our approaches, we investigate the self-assembled behaviors of flexible-semiflexible diblock copolymers in 4, 5, 6-dimensional simulations. In this paper, we discuss the area and speed balance optimization of Khudra lightweight block cipher. There are three major ingredients. Firstly, because of the whole structure of the Khudra block cipher and its F-function is based on a Feistel structure, we make the main module that directly calls the F-function in the hardware optimization implementation. Secondly, through the clock control, the plaintext can be XORed with the key and the round constant under certain conditions. At the same time, the three rounds of the F-function are merged into one module, whose F-function module contains the F-function of the left and right branches of the algorithm. Thus, three rounds of operations can be completed with only one S-box, which can effectively reduce the number of registers and the number of iterations to increase the encryption and decryption rate. Finally, because of the particularity of key expansion in Khudra, we separately calculated the round key and stored its results in the register, which can effectively save the time of key expansion. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

With the wide application of smart card, people’s demand for the security of smart card is increasing. The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm in smart card itself is safe enough, but the encryption algorithm is still threatened by side-channel attacks due to time, power consumption, electromagnetic radiation, and other information leakage during operation. Aiming at the shortcomings of existing mask schemes in security, a smart card AES encryption NARMS mask against side-channel attack is proposed. This scheme calculates the random mask according to the random hamming weight value and random integer, selects three rounds of random selection and NARMS random mask strategy for protection in the first, second, and ninth rounds of AES algorithm, optimizes and improves the design of the random mask and the overall process of mask protection. The mask scheme designed in this paper is comprehensively compared with ordinary AES algorithm, fixed value mask scheme and rotating S-box masking scheme (RSM). Experiments show that this scheme can effectively resist the first- and second-order correlation power analysis (CPA) attacks and has high efficiency, thus ensuring the key security of AES algorithm and privacy security of smart card application. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

For chaotic encryption algorithm, the algorithm of generating chaotic sequence is complex, and the data is float, which directly affects the speed of encryption. Self-consistent field theory (SCFT) is one of the most widely-used framework in studying the equilibrium phase behaviors of inhomogenous polymers. For liquid crystalline polymeric systems, the main numerical challenges of solving SCFT encompass efficiently solving plenty of six dimensional partial differential equations (PDEs), precisely determining the subtle energy difference among self-assembled structures, and developing effective iterative methods for nonlinear SCF iteration. To address these challenges, this work introduces a suite of high-order and efficient numerical methods tailored for SCFT of liquid-crystalline polymers. These methods include various advaced PDE solvers, an improved Anderson iteration algorithm to accelerate SCFT calculations, and an optimization technique of adjusting the computational domain during the SCF iterations. Extensive numerical tests demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed methods. Based on these algorithms, we further explore the self-assembly behavior of liquid crystalline polymers through simulations in four, five, and six dimensions, uncovering intricate three-dimensional spatial structures. In this paper, a handwritten digit recognition system based on K-nearest neighbor algorithm is designed and implemented. By analyzing the application principle and steps of k-nearest neighbor algorithm in machine learning classifier, we design handwritten digit recognition in Python language. In order to improve the accuracy and accuracy of handwritten character recognition, the method of smooth denoising and character segmentation methods are used to preprocess the data, extract the structure and statistical features.
