Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) constitutes an essential and promising paradigm that relies programmable wireless environment and provides capability for space-intensive communications, due to the use of low-cost massive reflecting elements over the entire surfaces of man-made structures. However, accurate channel estimation is a fundamental technical prerequisite to achieve the huge performance gains from RIS. By leveraging the low rank structure of RIS channels, three practical residual neural networks, named convolutional blind denoising network, convolutional denoising generative adversarial networks and multiple residual dense network, are proposed to obtain accurate channel state information, which can reflect the impact of different methods on the estimation performance. Simulation results reveal the evolution direction of these three methods and reveal their superior performance compared with existing benchmark schemes. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. Aqueous rechargeable zinc-ion batteries (ARZBs) are impeded by the mutual problems of unstable cathode, electrolyte parasitic reactions, and dendritic growth of zinc (Zn) anode. Herein, a triple-functional strategy by introducing the tetramethylene sulfone (TMS) to form a hydrated eutectic electrolyte is reported to ameliorate these issues. The activity of H 2 O is inhibited by reconstructing hydrogen bonds due to the strong interaction between TMS and H 2 O. Meanwhile, the preferentially adsorbed TMS on the Zn surface increases the thickness of double electric layer (EDL) structure, which provides a shielding buffer layer to suppress dendrite growth. Interestingly, TMS modulates the primary solvation shell of Zn 2+ ultimately to achieve a novel solvent co-intercalation ((Zn-TMS) 2+ ) mechanism, and the intercalated TMS works as a “pillar” that provides more zincophilic sites and stabilizes the structure of cathode (NH 4 V 4 O 10 , (NVO)). Consequently, the Zn||NVO battery exhibits a remarkably high specific capacity of 515.6 mAh g −1 at a low current density of 0.2 A g −1 for over 40 days. This multi-functional electrolytes and solvent co-intercalation mechanism will significantly propel the practical development of aqueous batteries.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries are inherently safe, but the severe dendrite growth and corrosion reaction on zinc anodes greatly hinder their practical applications. Most of the strategies for zinc anode modification refer to the research of lithium metal anodes on surface regulation without considering the intrinsic mechanisms of zinc anode. Herein, we first point out that surface modification cannot permanently protect zinc anodes due to the unavoidable surface damage during the stripping process by solid–liquid conversion. A bulk-phase reconstruction strategy is proposed to introduce abundant zincophilic sites both on the surface and inside the commercial zinc foils. The bulk-phase reconstructed zinc foil anodes exhibit uniform surfaces with high zincophilicity even after deep stripping, significantly improving the resistance to dendrite growth and side reactions. Our proposed strategy suggests a promising direction for the development of dendrite-free metal anodes for practical rechargeable batteries with high sustainability.

Developing a highly stable and dendrite-free zinc anode is essential to the commercial application of zinc metal batteries. However, the understanding of zinc dendrites formation mechanism is still insufficient. Herein, for the first time, we discover that the interfacial heterogeneous deposition induced by lattice defects and epitaxial growth limited by residual stress are intrinsic and critical causes for zinc dendrite formation. Therefore, an annealing reconstruction strategy was proposed to eliminate lattice defects and stresses in zinc crystals, which achieve dense epitaxial electrodeposition of zinc anode. The as-prepared annealed zinc anodes exhibit dendrite-free morphology and enhanced electrochemical cycling stability. This work first proves that lattice defects and residual stresses are also very important factors for epitaxial electrodeposition of zinc in addition to crystal orientation, which can provide a new mechanism for future researches on zinc anode modification.

Based on Galerkin method and multiple scales method, the first-order symmetric mode responses the suspension cable under longitudinal time-delayed velocity feedback control are obtained. The influence of system parameters, such as time delay, control gain and excitation amplitude on the controlled system, is investigated by the numerical examples. According to the feedback gain increasing, the amplitude of the system response is significantly suppressed. And the efficiency of vibration control can be improved by selecting control gain and the time-delay value.

A note on continuous-stage Runge-Kutta methods

We provide a note on continuous-stage Runge-Kutta methods (csRK) for solving initial value problems of first-order ordinary differential equations. Such methods, as an interesting and creative extension of traditional Runge-Kutta (RK) methods, can give us a new perspective on RK discretization and it may enlarge the application of RK approximation theory in modern mathematics and engineering fields. A highlighted advantage of investigation of csRK methods is that we do not need to study the tedious solution of multi-variable nonlinear algebraic equations associated with order conditions. In this note, we will discuss and promote the recently-developed csRK theory. In particular, we will place emphasis on geometric integrators including symplectic methods, symmetric methods and energy-preserving methods which play a central role in the field of geometric numerical integration. In this paper, we will develop new mathematical tools for mapping tissue microstructural properties via the use of space-time fractional calculus methods. We propose the following two new computational multi-term time-space fractional diffusion models in three dimensions, which can be used to simulate multi-term time-space fractional Bloch-Torrey models in three dimensions: Model I: Finite element method for the multi-term time-space fractional diffusion model with Riesz fractional operator; Model II: Finite difference method for the multi-term time-space fractional diffusion equation with fractional Laplacian operator. Firstly, the three-dimensional multi-term time-space fractional Bloch-Torrey models are decoupled; the problem is then equivalent to solving the three-dimensional time-space fractional diffusion equations (Model I and Model II). Secondly, we propose the finite element method for Model I and finite difference method for Model II, respectively. These methods can be directly used to simulate three-dimensional multi-term time-space fractional Bloch-Torrey models. Finally, some numerical examples are given to demonstrate the versatility and application of the models.

Symmetric integrators based on continuous-stage Runge-Kutta-Nyström methods for reversible systems

In this paper, we study symmetric integrators for solving second-order ordinary differential equations on the basis of the notion of continuous-stage Runge-Kutta-Nyström methods. The construction of such methods heavily relies on the Legendre expansion technique in conjunction with the symmetric conditions and simplifying assumptions for order conditions. New families of symmetric integrators as illustrative examples are presented. For comparing the numerical behaviors of the presented methods, some numerical experiments are also reported. Let F2m be a finite field of 2m elements, and R = F2m[u]/huki = 2m + u2m + . . . + uk-1F2m (uk = 0) where k is an integer satisfying k ≥ 2. For any odd positive integer n, an explicit representation for every self-dual cyclic code over R of length 2n and a mass formula to count the number of these codes are given first. Then a generator matrix is provided for the self-dual and 2-quasi-cyclic code of length 4n over F2m derived by every self-dual cyclic code of length 2n over 2m + u2m and a Gray map from 2m + u2m onto F22 m. Finally, the hull of each cyclic code with length 2n over F2m +uF2m is determined and all distinct self-orthogonal cyclic codes of length 2n over 2m + u2m are listed. Copyright © 2019, The Authors.
