Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is a new system that enables individual vehicles to connect with nearby vehicles,people, transportation infrastructure, and networks, thereby realizing amore intelligent and efficient transportationsystem. The movement of vehicles and the three-dimensional (3D) nature of the road network cause the topologicalstructure of IoV to have the high space and time *** modeling and structure recognition for 3Droads can benefit the description of topological changes for IoV. This paper proposes a 3Dgeneral roadmodel basedon discrete points of roads obtained from GIS. First, the constraints imposed by 3D roads on moving vehicles areanalyzed. Then the effects of road curvature radius (Ra), longitudinal slope (Slo), and length (Len) on speed andacceleration are studied. Finally, a general 3D road network model based on road section features is *** paper also presents intersection and road section recognition methods based on the structural features ofthe 3D road network model and the road features. Real GIS data from a specific region of Beijing is adopted tocreate the simulation scenario, and the simulation results validate the general 3D road network model and therecognitionmethod. Therefore, thiswork makes contributions to the field of intelligent transportation by providinga comprehensive approach tomodeling the 3Droad network and its topological changes in achieving efficient trafficflowand improved road safety.

The field of Password-Authenticated Key Exchange (PAKE) protocols has been actively explored for more than three decades, and it was not until 2020 that the IRTF working group CFRG selected the CPace protocol as the recommended PAKE standard. The Universally Composable (UC) security of CPace has been comprehensively studied by Abdalla et al. (ASIACRYPT’21). However, typical UC models do not capture cryptographic subversion attacks which could manipulate the cryptographic implementations to leak some secret covertly. To achieve subversion-resilience in UC models, Chakraborty et al. (EUROCRYPT’22) and Arnold et al. (Eprint 2023/1951) both extended reverse firewalls (Mironov and Stephens-Davidowitz, EUROCRYPT’15) to the UC setting with different considerations. In this work, we propose a subversion-resilient PAKE protocol, called srCPace, that UC-realizes a lazy-extraction PAKE functionality under subversion corruption. Note that current models (both Chakraborty et al.’s model and Arnold et al.’s) assume the existence of authenticated channels while PAKE protocols typically run on unauthenticated channels. To close the gap, we revisit the main theorem of Arnold et al. in the setting of unauthenticated communication. Then, we modify the CPace protocol to support particular reverse firewalls. Finally, by equipping the modified CPace with reverse firewalls, we obtain srCPace and prove its UC security with subversion-resilience by applying our adapted theorem. Our protocol enhances the security of CPace when deployed in the real world where implementations might be corrupted. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

A mixed adaptive dynamic programming(ADP)scheme based on zero-sum game theory is developed to address optimal control problems of autonomous underwater vehicle(AUV)systems subject to disturbances and safe *** combining prior dynamic knowledge and actual sampled data,the proposed approach effectively mitigates the defect caused by the inaccurate dynamic model and significantly improves the training speed of the ADP ***,the dataset is enriched with sufficient reference data collected based on a nominal model without considering modelling ***,the control object interacts with the real environment and continuously gathers adequate sampled data in the *** comprehensively leverage the advantages of model-based and model-free methods during training,an adaptive tuning factor is introduced based on the dataset that possesses model-referenced information and conforms to the distribution of the real-world environment,which balances the influence of model-based control law and data-driven policy gradient on the direction of policy *** a result,the proposed approach accelerates the learning speed compared to data-driven methods,concurrently also enhancing the tracking performance in comparison to model-based control ***,the optimal control problem under disturbances is formulated as a zero-sum game,and the actor-critic-disturbance framework is introduced to approximate the optimal control input,cost function,and disturbance policy,***,the convergence property of the proposed algorithm based on the value iteration method is ***,an example of AUV path following based on the improved line-of-sight guidance is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Recurrent neural networks (RNNs) have been heavily used in applications relying on sequence data such as time series and natural languages. As a matter of fact, their behaviors lack rigorous quality assurance due to the black-box nature of deep learning. It is an urgent and challenging task to formally reason about the behaviors of RNNs. To this end, we first present an extension of linear-time temporal logic to reason about properties with respect to RNNs, such as local robustness, reachability, and some temporal properties. Based on the proposed logic, we formalize the verification obligation as a Hoare-like triple, from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives. The former concerns whether all the outputs resulting from the inputs fulfilling the pre-condition satisfy the post-condition, whereas the latter is to compute the probability that the post-condition is satisfied on the premise that the inputs fulfill the pre-condition. To tackle these problems, we develop a systematic verification framework, mainly based on polyhedron propagation, dimension-preserving abstraction, and the Monte Carlo sampling. We also implement our algorithm with a prototype tool and conduct experiments to demonstrate its feasibility and efficiency.

Best low-cost methods for real-time detection of the eye and gaze tracking

The study of gaze tracking is a significant research area in computer vision. It focuses on real-world applications and the interface between humans and computers. Recently, new eye-tracking applications have boosted the need for low-cost methods. The eye region is a crucial aspect of tracking the direction of the gaze. In this paper, several new methods have been proposed for eye-tracking by using methods to determine the eye area as well as find the direction of gaze. Unmodified webcams can be used for eye-tracking without the need for specialized equipment or software. Two methods for determining the eye region were used: facial landmarks or the Haar cascade technique. Moreover, the direct method, based on the convolutional neural network model, and the engineering method, based on distances determining the iris region, were used to determine the eye’s direction. The paper uses two engineering techniques: drawing perpendicular lines on the iris region to identify the gaze direction junction point and dividing the eye region into five regions, with the blackest region representing the gaze direction. The proposed network model has proven effective in determining the eye’s gaze direction within limited mobility, while engineering methods improve their effectiveness in wide mobility. © 2023 the author(s), published by De Gruyter.

Efficient feature selection based on Gower distance for breast cancer diagnosis

This study presents an efficient feature selection method based on the Gower distance to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of standard classifiers on high-dimensional medical ***-dimensional data poses significant challenges for traditional classifiers due to feature redundancy or being *** proposed method addresses these challenges by partitioning the dataset into blocks,calculating the Gower distance within each block,and selecting features based on their average ***,the Gower distance normalizes the absolute difference between numerical features,ensuring that each feature contributes equally to the distance *** normalization prevents features with larger scales from overshadowing those with smaller *** process facilitates the identification of features that exhibit high harmony and are the most relevant for *** proposed feature selection strategy significantly reduces dimensionality,retains the most relevant features,and improves model *** results show that the accuracy for the classifiers including k-nearest neighbors(KNN),naive Bayes(NB),decision tree(DT),random forest(RF),support vector machine(SVM),and logistic regression(LR)was increased by 4.38%-7.02%.Besides,the reduction in the feature set size contributes to a considerable decrease in computational complexity and thus faster diagnosis *** execution time was averagely reduced by 77.82%for all samples and 76.45%for one *** results demonstrate that the proposed feature selection method shows enhanced performance on both prediction accuracy and diagnostic speed,making it a promising tool for real-time clinical decision-making and improving patient care outcomes.

Task assignment is a fundamental problem in spatial crowdsourcing. In many spatial crowdsourcing platforms, such as Didi, AMAP, and Uber, there are hybrid tasks, including real-time and reservation-type tasks, which are with different constraints and unevenly distributed in spatial and temporal. For these hybrid tasks, most existing studies suffer from low task completion rate and low profit for two reasons: firstly, they focus on homogeneous tasks with uniform constraints, and assign hybrid tasks separately;secondly, they cannot effectively address the uneven distribution of hybrid tasks. Inspired by this, we delve into the problem of online hybrid task assignment (HyTAO) with the goal of maximizing total revenue by simultaneously assigning both real-time and reservation-type tasks online for the first time. We prove the NP-hardness of the offline version of the HyTAO problem. To solve HyTAO effectively, we utilize a cross-platform cooperation model to tackle the challenge of non-uniform distribution. Following this, we design a binary tree-based search algorithm, namely BTS, which is capable of uniformly processing various types of tasks and quickly searching for available workers. Additionally, we discuss the parallel optimization strategies of BTS. To further enhance performance, we develop TBTS, which identifies tasks with high increased revenue based on a threshold. Finally, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of the complexity and competitive ratio of both BTS and TBTS. Extensive experiments are performed to demonstrate the efficiency of our approaches. © 2024 IEEE.

Privacy-Preserving Knowledge Distillation in Latency-Critical Federated Task Offloading for Consumer IoT Networks

Along with the explosive demand for massive data computation, federated local-edge-cloud computing enables many IoT task offloading processes and has recently gained widespread attention in consumer-centric healthcare. However, existing approaches for latency-critical task offloading do not pay sufficient attention to patient privacy data and thus are far from being ready for large-scale practical deployment. In this paper, a novel local-edge-cloud based federated learning framework with one-way knowledge distillation for latency-critical and security-aware task offloading is proposed, while a task offloading scheme based on deep reinforcement learning is presented. Then, based on the consideration of privacy guarantees, computing resources and offloading decisions, an optimization problem is formulated to minimize the overall latency of all tasks for local medical devices. Additionally, a pseudo-task mechanism is adopted in the federated framework for the uploaded weights to aggregate the models on the edges and the cloud. Besides, a one-way knowledge distillation mechanism is proposed to transfer knowledge from a teacher model to student models, which compresses the network parameters and reduces the model latency. Finally, experiments based on Chest X-Ray Images of Pneumonia are conducted for corroborating the theoretical results. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

Sentiment analysis plays an important role in distilling and clarifying content from movie reviews,aiding the audience in understanding universal views towards the ***,the abundance of reviews and the risk of encountering spoilers pose challenges for efcient sentiment analysis,particularly in Arabic *** study proposed a Stochastic Gradient Descent(SGD)machine learning(ML)model tailored for sentiment analysis in Arabic and English movie *** allows for fexible model complexity adjustments,which can adapt well to the Involvement of Arabic language *** adaptability ensures that the model can capture the nuances and specifc local patterns of Arabic text,leading to better *** distinct language datasets were utilized,and extensive pre-processing steps were employed to optimize the datasets for *** proposed SGD model,designed to accommodate the nuances of each language,aims to surpass existing models in terms of accuracy and *** SGD model achieves an accuracy of 84.89 on the Arabic dataset and 87.44 on the English dataset,making it the top-performing model in terms of accuracy on both *** indicates that the SGD model consistently demonstrates high accuracy levels across Arabic and English *** study helps deepen the understanding of sentiments across various linguistic *** many studies that focus solely on movie reviews,the Arabic dataset utilized here includes hotel reviews,ofering a broader perspective.
