A virtual positioning system for external beam radiotherapy

in radiation therapy, positioning patients to ensure the accuracy of the setup of a procedure is a routine and labour-intensive process that substantially determines the efficacy of treatment. in this study, we propose a virtual positioning system that can simulate the positioning process with a visible beam path under the broad view of a life-like patient-positioning platform to obviate problems with excessively narrow view. This system integrates image processing, computer graphics, and virtual reality to encompass a 3D treatment target reconstructed from medical images of different modalities in a virtual scene. An innovative evaluation method is further proposed to verify the efficacy of the system using a full-scale 3D solid anthropometric model, and a treatment target showed an accuracy of 99% in calibration and a mean compatibility of 95% with an actual measurement. The proposed virtual positioning system provides a training and education platform for radiation therapy. The methodology through which the system was developed is also disclosed as a promising approach to improve the efficiency and safety of the position verification process for existing systems. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature.

Adaptation of the e-servicescape model to the online exhibition industry

Purpose: The servicescape model has been widely adapted in various service industries, but this model may not be applicable if the exhibition is transformed from physical to online. Moreover, there is only a handful of research on online exhibitions;studies focusing on visitor behaviors from various types of online exhibitions and the differences between genders are still lacking. This study aims to examine the different variables in the e-servicescape model and discuss how e-servicescape affects visitor behavior based on the exhibition types and gender differences. Design/methodology/approach: The e-servicescape model is adapted in this study. Qualitative interviews were conducted prior to a quantitative online survey to examine by regression analysis the relationships among the dimensions in e-servicescape and how it affects visitor subsequent behavior. Data analyses are based on the differences between exhibition types and gender differences in response to the three environmental dimensions, namely, aesthetic appeal, layout and functionality, and security concern. Findings: The findings show that visitors pay more attention to artistic enjoyment in art-related exhibitions and focus on informative issues in other types of exhibitions. “Aesthetic appeal” and “layout and functionality” are important to both genders, but little concern is shown to computer security issues. Female visitors are concerned with aesthetic design and male visitors stress layout and functionality elements. in terms of the security concerns, females have no concern about cookies function, while males have no concern on leaving search history on the website. Originality/value: There is no previous relevant research on the relationships and influence between e-servicescape and online exhibition;this study focuses on the application of e-servicescape to the online exhibition industry and helps fill this research gap. © 2023, Emerald Publishing Limited.

Effect of an Ai-based chatbot on students' learning performance in alternate reality game-based museum learning

Recently, alternate reality games (ARGs) have been applied in museum learning to encourage learners' active engagement through playful problem-solving activities. However, most learners have insufficient prior knowledge and metacognitive skills to complete the learning tasks in such games. To support learning with ARGs, there is a need to provide proper feedback so that the learners are capable of self-regulated learning and solving the problems encountered during the learning process. Considering the influences of individual differences, this research developed a chatbot as a learning partner in ARG-based learning to support students’ learning with adaptive feedback in a museum. A quasi-experimental study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness with and without the proposed approach. The results showed that the Ai-based chatbot approach could significantly improve learners' metacognition awareness, emotional engagement and behavioural engagement. The complexities of real contexts and ambiguities of the ARGs could frustrate students and demotivate their engagement in problem-solving activities. Disentangling the Difficulties in Cross-National Practice Adoption: The Role of Perception of institutional Logics

Purpose – This paper aims to theorize how importation, a form of international practice transfers in which firms adopt practices developed by foreign organizations, is fundamentally problematic and thus gives rise to distinctive difficulty. Design/methodology/approach – Conceptual study. Findings – Due to importation’s nature as cross-national and inter-organizational transfer, adopters tend to lack perception of cultural misfit between the foreign practice and the adopting organization. We develop a framework for the consequences of such bounded perception. Research limitations/implications – We limit scope of our framework to the case where cultural misfit involves conflicting institutional logics. Practical implications/Social implications – This paper proposes that adopters’ initial perceptions of logics underlying the foreign practice and the adopting organization can result in fundamental problems and affect subsequent organizational learning and adaptation. Originality/value – This study provides contextual as well as cognitive analysis of source of difficulty in cross-national practice adoption. © 2022, Kung-Hwa management Foundation. The impact of film thickness and annealing temperature on the structural, electrical, magnetic, and mechanical properties of cobalt–iron–dysprosium (Co40Fe40Dy20 ) thin films deposited on Si(100) substrates have been investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed the film's crystalline microstructure, featuring dysprosium oxide, Dy2O3(440), and cobalt oxide, Co2O3(422) and Co2O3(511), crystallographic phases. Surface energy measurements indicated a noticeable reduction in surface energy following annealing treatments, which could be ascribed to the alleviation of residual stress and enhanced atomic arrangement, resulting in a more stable film structure with reduced surface energy. The film exhibited a decreasing trend in hardness with increasing thickness, and film resistivity was significantly responsive to alterations in thickness and annealing temperature. Notably, the Co40Fe40Dy20 film demonstrated exceptional characteristics, featuring a high saturation magnetization (Ms) of 675 emu/cm3 and a low coercivity (Hc) of 9.5 Oe. Further analysis of magnetic domains and hysteresis loops revealed that larger and brighter domains were associated with higher Hc. To sum up, the surface roughness of CoFeDy films under various annealing temperatures played a pivotal role in shaping their magnetic, electrical, adhesive, and optical characteristics. An improved low-frequency alternating current magnetic susceptibility (χac) value was achieved by minimizing the pinning effect on domain walls through surface smoothing. Moreover, smoother surfaces displayed heightened carrier conductivity, resulting in a decrease in electrical resistance. On the whole, Co40Fe40Dy20 films exhibited outstanding soft magnetic properties, encompassing high saturation magnetization, low coercivity, exceptional mechanical attributes, and decreased surface energy. in this study, we focused on depositing a target material, cobalt-iron-dysprosium (Co60Fe20Dy20), onto silicon (Si) (100) substrates with thickness varying from 10 nm to 50 nm through a direct-current (DC) magnetron sputtering technique. The subsequent step involved subjecting the samples to an hour-long annealing process in a vacuum annealing furnace at temperatures of 100°C, 200°C, and 300°C. To assess the elemental composition of the CoFeDy films, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) was employed. An observed trend indicated an increase in low-frequency alternating-current magnetic susceptibility (χac) with the increasing thickness. Remarkably, the CoFeDy films exhibited their peak χac following annealing at 300°C, with an optimal resonance frequency of 50 Hz. After annealing at 300°C, the CoFeDy film’s surface energy peaked at 50 nm. The magnetic, electrical, and adhesive properties of the CoFeDy films were notably influenced by surface roughness at different annealing temperatures. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) analysis revealed a gradual reduction in film roughness post-annealing, corresponding to smoother surfaces indicative of a weaker domain wall pinning effect, heightened carrier conductivity, and increased liquid spreading. Collectively, these outcomes contributed to diminished χac, reduced electrical resistance, and enhanced adhesion. A poor environment increases fish’s susceptibility to myxosporean infection that can cause the death of larval fish,especially for koi fish(Cyprinus carpio).This study aimed to determine the effect of probiotics,local anti-parasitic drugs(kutuklin),and the chemical compound diflubenzuron treatments on the koi immune *** study used PCR with specific primer 18S SSU rDNA and DNA sequencing to detect Myxobulus *** treatments were divided into 5 groups:Treatment(A)(healthy koi without treatment),(B)(infected koi without treatment),(C)(infected koi with 0.55 mL/30 L probiotics),(D)(infected koi with 1μL/g of feed kutuklin),and(E)(infected koi with 0.02 mg/5 L dimilin).Myxospore has observed with Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM)and 4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole(DAPi)fluorescence *** histological analysis using semi-quantitative scoring methods,and flow cytometry was conducted to analyse the immune response of Cluster of differentiation 4(CD4^(+)),Cluster of differentiation 8(CD8^(+)),Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha(TNF-α),interferon gamma(iFN-γ)cells in the *** show that the histological analysis indicated edema,hyperplasia,lamella fusion,congestion,and hypertrophy lesions in infected *** with probiotics shows the lowest damage(30.6%).The immune responses of CD4^(+)and CD8^(+)cells to dimilin treatment were 10.54%and 16.86%,*** largest TNF-αand iFN-γresponse were for the kutuklin treatment(29.26%)and probiotics treatment(8.23%).

The potential for business opportunities live streaming services has attracted attention from individuals and businesses. Limited studies have explored the factors associated with the purchase intention of shoppers in live-streaming contexts. The purpose of this study was to examine whether social media technology readiness, perceived value, and social presence influence shoppers’ purchase intention in live-streaming contexts. The results indicated that social media technology readiness and perceived value had a significant and positive effect on purchase intention. A thorough discussion and future research suggestions are provided to obtain a better understanding of the behavioral intention of shoppers in live-streaming contexts. © 2022 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

Two new non-withanolidal steroids with a cross-conjugated dienone structural unit in ring A, capnesterones A (1) and B (2), were isolated from the soft coral Capnella imbricata in the southeast waters of Taiwan. The compounds' structures were elucidated through a comprehensive analysis of spectroscopic data, including iR, ESiMS, ¹H NMR, and ¹³C NMR, and through comparison with previous literature. At a concentration of 10 μM, steroids 1 and 2 exhibited reductions in iNOS levels (60 % and 82 %) compared to LPS-stimulated control cells, along with increased release (134 % and 110 %) against COX-2 protein expressions. © 2024 Phytochemical Society of Europe

Purpose: Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a complex neurodegenerative disorder characterized by diverse symptoms. Diagnosis relies on established criteria and comprehensive assessment. The Movement Disorder Society Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) motor score assesses motor function but is susceptible to rater variability. This study employs MediaPipe and video-assisted methods to objectively calculate real-time motion parameters, aiming to enhance diagnostic accuracy and mitigate inter-rater discrepancies in PD assessment. Methods: Between 2021 and 2022, 30 videos featuring patients with PD were recorded at Kaohsiung Medical university Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital and Kaohsiung Municipal Ta-Tung Hospital, compared with 30 normal controls. Using MediaPipe landmark detection, five movements were analyzed, and experienced specialists assessed movement severity based on MDS-UPDRS Motor Section.
