This paper deals with electromagneticsusceptibility of satellitesmicrostrip patch antennasilluminated by electromagnetic pulsessuch as electrostatic discharges. Twosuccessive methodsof calculation have been developped to evaluate the behaviourof an antenna. The first one consistsin directly resolving the mAXWELL'scurl equationsin the time domainusing a total-field Finite-Difference computercode. The second one consistsin establishing a broadband equivalent circuit where the elements values are analytically calculated. The twomethodsshow interference resonances below the well-kno.n working frequenciesof the antenna. measurementscarried out in the cnET of Lannionusing an EmP simulatorconfirm the results.

microwave magnetic losses far eno.gh from the ferrimagneticresonance are difficult tocharacterize in a wide frequency range. They are generally measured by the perturbationmethod in a cavity where a small magneticsample iscentered [1]. The main problemis that magnetic losses are calculated at only one frequency forone cavity size. Thismethod is very difficult touse at low frequencies because it needs a large cavity dimension. Furthermore, the experimental measurement systemis difficult to adjust. Therefore, a structure is looked for tocharacterize out of resonance magnetic losses (DELTA-Heff) with good accuracy on a large frequency bandwidth using few ferrite samples (one, if possible). in the case of a ferrite coaxial line, Brodwin and miller [2] have calculated only the propagationconstantsof the quasi-TEmmode and Epstein [3] only the general field expressionsof any mode. They did no.study either the resonant structure or the magnetic losses. in this paper the rigorous analytic field expressions are given for any mode in a coaxial ferrite resonator. resonant frequenciesof these modes are calculated, an experimental study is presented, and good agreement between theory and experimentsisseen. Finally, thisstructure isused for the first time inorder to determine magnetic losses.
