This study aimed to investigate child and maternal-related predictors of Early Childhood Insomnia (ECI) based on a parent-rated severity in a convenience sample of mother-infant dyads with ECI. We conducted a single-center, cross-sectional prospective study involving infants aged 6-36 months who attended the Pediatric Behavioral Sleep Outpatient Clinic at Marmara University Hospital, Istanbul, over 5 years for ECI. Infant sleep was evaluated by Brief Infant Sleep Questionnaire. Beck Depression and Anxiety Inventories were used to assess maternal depression and anxiety. Predictive factors for parent perceived ECI severity were examined by logistic regression models. Among 759 registered mother-child dyads, the mean age of the children at diagnosis was 15.5 +/- 7.5 months, and 56.7 % were male. Overall, 76.5 % of the mothers rated their child's sleep to be a serious problem. The odds of parent-reported serious sleep problems were increased in children who woke up often and spent longer in wakefulness. The strongest predictor of ECI severity was maternal sleep deprivation and having a former colicky infant. In addition, mothers scoring higher on maternal anxiety symptoms were more likely to rate their children's sleep as serious than women with lower anxiety scores. This study further underscored that heightened maternal sleep deprivation, elevated maternal anxiety symptoms, and previous exposure to a colicky infant were significant predictors of the perceived severity of ECI. Future research should explore interventions aimed at improving maternal well-being and infant sleep patterns to potentially mitigate the severity of ECI and its impact on family dynamics.

This study examines the relationship between stopping a planned gait initiation due to sudden environmental changes and maintaining body stability. Using a gait initiation version of the Stop Signal Task (SST), we studied changes in anticipatory postural adjustments (APAs) during gait initiation and suppression. We found that trial-level variables, such as the time to start or stop stepping, interacted with biomechanical factors like the center of mass displacement relative to the base of support affecting performance. A critical biomechanical threshold was identified, beyond which stopping movement was unlikely. These findings highlight the strong link between limb action control and body equilibrium, offering a framework within a motor control paradigm. By integrating biomechanical elements, the model effectively simulates real-life scenarios, identifying key variables for studying neural correlations between action and postural control, and aiding in the development of injury prevention and rehabilitation tools for individuals with movement and posture impairments.

In this study, an injection molding machine with a mixing mechanism of nitrogen (N-2) and melt was designed, and the melt-fill/porous-foaming behavior is observed under the novel barrel design (plasticizing stage) of the gas/melt mixing for the porous injection molded thermoplastic. The thermoplastic employed in this study was polypropylene (PP), and the gas for forming the porous structure is N-2. In addition, a thickness of 5 mm and a width of 10 mm paper-clip shape and the mold were constructed for studying the melt-fill-length and fill-length ratio through an experiment. The experimental results showed that the use of an injection molding machine with a mixing mechanism of N-2 and melt decreased the melt-fill-length when the N-2-output pressure was increased. The reason is that when the gas output, the speed of the screw will be affected. Therefore, during the gas/melt mixing and the plasticization rate will also affect the volume of the foam and the melt. But during plasticizing setting back pressure, can improve its melt volume reduction. When passing through the mixing mechanism and the injected melt, the melt is filled into the mold cavity, and the pressure in the melt is released/porous-foaming grows. At the same time, when the output pressure increases, the amount of melt in the injection barrel will decrease, and its relative porous structure/density distribution will increase. In addition, the mixing/flow direction of the melt impacted the density distribution and dispersion of porous foaming, thus the sample weight/shrinkage of melt-fill-length test sample (Mfl-ts) was improved.

Protons participate in many reactions. In proteins, protons need paths to move in and out of buried active sites. The vectorial movement of protons coupled to electron transfer reactions establishes the transmembrane electrochemical gradient used for many reactions, including ATP synthesis. Protons move through hydrogen bonded chains of waters and hydroxy side chains via the Grotthuss mechanism and by proton binding and release from acidic and basic residues. MCCE analysis shows that proteins exist in a large number of protonation states. Knowledge of the equilibrium ensemble can provide a rational basis for setting protonation states in simulations that fix them, such as molecular dynamics (MD). The proton path into the Q(B) site in the bacterial reaction centers (RCs) of Rb. sphaeroides is analyzed by MD to provide an example of the benefits of using protonation states found by the MCCE program. A tangled web of side chains and waters link the cytoplasm to Q(B). MCCE analysis of snapshots from multiple trajectories shows that changing the input protonation state of a residue in MD biases the trajectory shifting the proton affinity of that residue. However, the proton affinity of some residues is more sensitive to the input structure. The proton transfer networks derived from different trajectories are quite robust. There are some changes in connectivity that are largely restricted to the specific residues whose protonation state is changed. Trajectories with Q(B)(center dot-) are compared with earlier results obtained with Q(B) [Wei et. al Photosynthesis Research volume 152, pages153-165 (2022)] showing only modest changes. While introducing new methods the study highlights the difficulty of establishing the connections between protein conformation.

PurposeThis study examines the impact of servitization in the form of repair and maintenance services on consumers' quality perceptions, purchase intentions and recommendation intentions while considering consumer frugality as a moderator in the retail ready-to-wear ***/methodology/approachA quantitative approach based on consumer research was pursued. Study 1 tested the research model using a fictitious ready-to-wear brand within an experimental design. To increase the generalizability of results, Study 2 retested the model with a well-known ready-to-wear brand. For both studies, regression, mediation and moderation analyses were conducted in *** studies showed that servitization positively influences perceived quality. Servitization positively affects purchase intentions and recommendation intentions indirectly via the mediating role of perceived quality. Frugality moderates the relationship between servitization and perceived quality for the fictitious brand (Study 1), whereas it is not significant for a well-known ready-to-wear brand (Study 2). Servitization positively influences perceived quality regardless of consumers' frugality levels for a stronger ***/valueThis study suggests and tests an original conceptual model that relies on signaling theory. It is among the first studies to examine the impact of servitization on retail fashion consumers' quality perceptions and consequent purchase and recommendation intentions. This study also contributes to the literature by presenting empirical findings based on consumer research on servitization while considering frugality as a *** implicationsBundling products with additional services can contribute to quality perceptions and consequently to purchase and recommendation intentions for ready-to-wear brands.

The challenge of fabricating transparent and conductive (T/C) films and patterns for applications in flexible electronics, touch screens, solar cells, and smart windows remains largely unsolved. Traditional fabrication techniques are complex, costly, time-consuming, and struggle to achieve the necessary precision and accuracy over electronic and optical properties. Here, hypersurface photolithography (HP), which integrates microfluidics, a digital micromirror device, and photochemical surface-initiated polymerizations is used to create polymer brush patterns. The high-throughput optimization enabled by HP provides conditions to fabricate patterns composed of cross-linked polymer brushes containing Au-binding 2-vinylpyrrolidine (2VP) groups with precise control over the height and the composition at each pixel. Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) are incorporated into the polymer brush patterns through in situ reduction of Au ions, resulting in T/C composite AuNP/polymer brush patterns. The sheet resistance at 100 mA of a 2VP-AuNP-functionalized patterns on a glass substrate is 0.42 Omega sq-1 with 86% transmittance of visible light. Additional patterns demonstrate multiplexing by copatterning rhodamine B functionalized fluorescent polymer brushes and AuNP/polymer brush conductive domains. This work solves the challenge of creating T/C films by forming metal-polymer composites from polymer brush patterns, offering a scalable solution for electronic and optical device development and fabrication.

By 2050, over 40% of the global population could face severe water stress. The 2030 Agenda explicitly integrates water resources, supply, and sanitation, emphasizing sustainability for present and future generations. Non-revenue water (NRW) creates a barrier to sustainability through energy, water loss, and money not collected through water bills. However, NRW is well recognized by water service providers, and a comprehensive solution is lacking. Addressing NRW is vital to sustainable operations and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This desk literature review investigates NRW's links with SDGs, highlighting global and local impacts, flameworking interconnections, and revealing economic, social, and environmental consequences. The study revealed that NRW not only aligns with various SDGs, particularly SDG 6 and SDG 13, but also has synergies with other goals related to energy and sustainable consumption. Reducing NRW can achieve more sustainable and resilient water systems, and contribute to the broader SDG. The cost of NRW extends beyond the financial implications for water utilities. It also encompasses the economic impacts on industries and businesses, which impacts exceeded water productivity, increased operational costs, and economic development constraints.

Eukaryotes possess several clamp loaders comprising four common subunits and a fifth subunit unique to each complex. The RFC-A-E clamp loader loads the PCNA clamp at 3 '-recessed structures for DNA replication. However, swapping a single subunit, Rad24, for RFC-A yields a clamp loader that prefers the 911 clamp and 5 '-recessed DNA. Three new studies reveal detailed views of the clamp loading reaction and provide insights into substrate preferences of each loader.

Introduction Authoritarianism and populism are used regularly to describe the individuals responsible for anti-democratic action. These two constructs share some similarities with regard to how they hinder democracy and at times have been used interchangeably to describe such issues. However, authoritarians and populists may differ with regard to their political identification, as well as how they view the government and the existing establishment. Objectives With a US college sample, this study's goal was to examine how authoritarianism and populist attitudes influence views on pluralism, elitism, trust in government, identity fusion, and political identification (identification with American political parties). Results The findings indicated that right-wing authoritarians trusted the government, endorsed elitist attitudes, but were low on pluralism;this pattern was the opposite for those high on populist attitudes. Left-wing authoritarianism was related only to low pluralism. Moreover, low trust in the government partially mediated the link between populist attitudes and pluralism. Results also indicated that right-wing and left-wing authoritarians identified with the Republican and Democratic parties, respectively, whereas political identification was unrelated to populist attitudes. Furthermore, identity fusion partially mediated the link between right-wing authoritarianism and identification with the Republican Party. Conclusion Authoritarianism and populist attitudes may explain different motivations for anti-democratic thought and behaviors. This study contributes to ongoing debates found in contemporary populism and authoritarianism research as well as different solutions to addressing their rise in mainstream politics.
