This paper proposes an improved epsilon constraint handling method embedded in the multi-objective evolutionary algorithm based on decomposition (MOEA/D) to solve constrained multi-objective optimization problems (CMOPs). More specifically, it dynamically adjusts the epsilon level, which is a critical parameter in the epsilon constraint method, according to the feasible ratio of solutions in the current population. In order to verify the effect of the improved epsilon constraint handling method, three algorithms - MOEA/D-CDP, MOEA/D-Epsilon, and MOEA/D-IEpsilon (MOEA/D with the improved epsilon constraint handling mechanism) are tested on nine CMOPs (CMOP1-CMOP9). The comprehensive experimental results indicate that the proposed epsilon constraint handling method is very effective on the performance of both convergence and diversity.

The operation of splicing on words was introduced by Tom Head while proposing a theoretical model of DNA recombination. Subsequent investigations on splicing on linear and circular strings of symbols have resulted in a number of theoretical properties. A different kind of splicing on two words, referred to as flat splicing, has been considered recently. This operation is extended to flat splicing on picture arrays, thus defining a new model of generation of digitized pictures, which is called as array flat splicing system (AFS). Results on the generative power of AFS in comparison with certain well-known picture array defining models and certain non-closure results are obtained. Array P systems with parallel rewriting and tables of context-free rules

The two areas of picture languages and membrane computing were linked by array-rewriting P system in which array objects and context-free array-rewriting rules are used in order to generate picture languages. While rewriting arrays in the array-rewriting P system is in a sequential manner, parallel array P system (PAP) involves rewriting of arrays in the regions in parallel in order to generate picture languages. A variant of PAP, known as tabled array P system (TPAP), uses sets of context-free array-rewriting rules, called tables of rules. In this paper, a multiple-input single-output (MISO) simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) system, including one base station (BS) equipped with multiple antennas, one desired single-antenna information receiver (IR), and N (N > 1) single-antenna energy-harvesting receivers (ERs) is considered. Assuming that the information signal to the desired IR may be eavesdropped by ERs if ERs are malicious, we investigate the secrecy performance of the target MISO SWIPT system when imperfect channel state information (CSI) is available and adopted for transmit antenna selection at the BS. Considering that each eavesdropping link experiences independent but not necessarily identically distributed Rayleigh fading, the closed-form expressions for the exact and the asymptotic secrecy outage probability, and the average secrecy capacity are derived and verified by simulations. Furthermore, the optimal power splitting factor is derived for each ER to realize the tradeoff between the energy harvesting and the information eavesdropping. Our results reveal the impact of the imperfect CSI on the secrecy performance of MISO SWIPT systems in the presence of multiple wiretap channels. © 2016 IEEE.

A shape matching dynamics (SMD) is a robust and efficient elastic model based on geometric constraints. This article introduces our study [1] that adopts SMD to visual simulation of cardiac beating motion. In our technique, a heart is represented by a tetrahedral mesh model and a local region is defined at each vertex by connecting its immediate neighbors. During the simulation, we first contract all local regions depending on predefined muscle fiber orientations and contraction rate. Then using SMD, we compute the global shape of the heart model so that it satisfies the contracted local regions. Our technique introduces a fiber-orientation-dependent weighting function to emulate an anisotropic stiffness of myocardium. Since our technique is based on SMD, it is possible to compute cardiac motion in real-time on a commercially available PC. © 2015, Japan Soc. of Med. Electronics and Biol. Engineering. Feature extraction methods have an important role in image classification. In this paper, a hybrid texture feature descriptor is proposed by utilizing the attributes of two complementary features, PRICoLBP and LPQ. PRICoLBP performs well in the case of geometric and photometric variations however it does not properly express the local texture of an image, while LPQ method performs well for the local structure of an image. We propose to use the hybrid scheme by combining the properties of PRICoLBP and LPQ and name it as Pair wise Rotation Invariant Co-occurrence Local Phase Quantization (PRICLPQ). Standard texture and material datasets have been used to verify the robustness of proposed hybrid scheme. The experiments show that the proposed hybrid scheme outperforms the state-of-the-art feature extraction methods like LBP, LPQ, CLBP, LBPV, SIFT, MSLBP, Lazebnik and PRICoLBP in term of accuracy.

Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA) mining thematic structure of documents plays an important role in nature language processing and machine learning areas. However, the probability distribution from LDA only describes the statistical relationship of occurrences in the corpus and usually in practice, probability is not the best choice for feature representations. Recently, embedding methods have been proposed to represent words and documents by learning essential concepts and representations, such as Word2 Vec and Doc2 Vec. The embedded representations have shown more effectiveness than LDA-style representations in many tasks. In this paper, we propose the Topic2 Vec approach which can learn topic representations in the same semantic vector space with words, as an alternative to probability distribution. The experimental results show that Topic2 Vec achieves interesting and meaningful results.

Traditional computer portrait caricature system mainly take the method that exaggerate and deform real images directly, that lead the facial image background also been deformed when exaggerate facial image. If in pretreatment stage, we segmented the characters and background of the input image, and then do the subsequent processing, the problem may be solved. But for better portrait caricature effects, we need an excellent segmentation algorithm. So, we propose an improved Grabcut image segmentation algorithm and use it to extract the prospect character image for exaggeration and deformation. In practical application, we separate deform and exaggerate the foreground characters image with TPS method, then fuse it with the original or new background picture, get the final image. Application proves, the method solves the background deformation problem well, and improves the quality and rate of image segmentation, caricature synthesis effect reality and natural. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2015.

Gabor features have been used widely in face identification because of their good results and robustness. However, face identification is strongly affected when the test images are very different from those of the gallery, as is the case in varying face pose. In this paper, a new 2D Gabor-based method is proposed that modifies the grid from which the Gabor features are extracted using a mesh to model face deformations produced by varying pose. Also the Gabor filter kernels are modified by the deformation field computed using the active shape model adjusted to the face. Therefore, the position of the Gabor jets with respect to the face features (eyes, nose, mouth, etc.) is closer to the original position in the frontal face and the modified Gabor filter kernel adjusts to the varying pose. Our method incorporates blocks for illumination compensation by a Local Normalization method, and entropy-weighted Gabor features to emphasize those features that yield proper identification. The method was assessed on the FERET database including pose variations for ±60°, ±40°, ±25°, ±15°, and 0°. We compared our results to those previously published for 2D methods. Our proposed method achieved the highest classification accuracy on the FERET database.
