CAD drawings reuse is of great importance in promoting design efficiency and productivity. The ability to retrieve CAD drawings is the core of drawings reuse task. Most of the existing drawings retrieval systems rely only on text descriptions. Due to complexity of visual feature, a little system is based on content. A simplified topological relationship is proposed to describe visual features for dimension reduction. An effective topological relationship vector is constructed by graph spectra. A novel retrieval system based on visual contents, including topological relationships, shape, and directional relationships, is proposed. The experiments show that the proposed approach and system are superior to the text-based and traditional content-based retrieval systems.

One of the major problems of deploying RSVP in the mobile environment is called the advance resource reservation problem. If an RSVP reservation path is reserved in advance in the subnet that a mobile node will visit, the mobile node can continue its QoS session smoothly when it hands over to that subnet. However, if too many network resources are used for advance reservation, new QoS sessions originating from that subnet will experience a higher probability of being blocked needlessly. In this paper, we propose a new advance resource reservation scheme that properly constrains the amount of advance reservations in a subnet and only allows the mobile nodes with large value of session-to-mobility ratio (SMR) to make advance reservation. We evaluate the proposed scheme and the results show that our scheme can effectively reduce both active and passive reservation blocking probabilities and achieves a better utilisation of the network resources, especially when the traffic intensity is high.

In this paper, we develop an image enhancement technology in the DCT domain for radiologists to screen mammograms. The proposed algorithm is an improved version of the algorithm developed. The improved algorithm overcomes the shortcomings of the old algorithm which requires manual adjustment of multiple parameters to realize non-uniform enhancement in different frequency bands. The proposed image enhancement algorithm is expressed as an optimization problem. In the optimization problem, the optimal local enhancement factors are found so that the target global contrast value is achieved which is specified by a user. Because it's a multi-variable optimization problem, genetic algorithm is used to search the optimal parameters. The experimental results show that the algorithm is progressive.

The wavelet/scalar quantization (WSQ) [1] fingerprint image compression algorithm is effective and has been widely applied to fingerprint image compression. However, WSQ cannot control the compression ratio and its performance on fuzzy images is poor. We propose an improved WSQ fingerprint image compression algorithm to overcome the above shortcomings. Our algorithm uses a mixed quantizer so that the algorithm can treat fuzzy and non-fuzzy fingerprint images separately. In order to control the compression ration, an optimization parameters for a specific compression ratio. The proposed algorithm is compared with the traditional WSQ fingerprint image compression algorithm and the results are encouraging.

In this paper, we present a parallelization of a filtering algorithm related to non-linear anisotropic diffusion, used to enhance the performance of an application in a parallel distributed system. The anisotropic diffusion is a well-established technique for image enhancement by means of diffusivity functions, which act as border attenuators. However, it requires a high computational cost when a large amount of data is used. The proposed implementation was parallelized considering both point-to-point and collective communications, adopting the MPI paradigm. Results from both approaches indicate that the proposed algorithm has reached interesting levels of performance (81% and 93% of efficiency, respectively) when compared to the execution of one process in a single computer node. In addition, our results indicate an enhancement of around 21% utilizing the collective communication strategy when compared to point-to-point communication.

The paper addresses the issue of implementing a GAPU (global analogic programming unit) on the emulated-digital CNN-UM (cellular neural/nonlinear networks universal machine) architecture. It has been embedded with a flexible Xilinx MicroBlaze soft-core processor to take full advantage of the joint computing power of high-speed arithmetics and programmability. The GAPU implementation accelerates the processing performance of the Falcon architecture by decreasing the I/O communication and it also provides a stand-alone operation, which is capable of controlling complex sophisticated analogic CNN algorithms similar to various visual microprocessors, such as the ACE16k and the Q-Eye in the Bi-i, and eye-RIS cellular vision systems. Our primary aim was to implement an FPGA-based emulated-digital CNN-UM with embedded GAPU for computation intensive, real image-processing tasks.
