Nonsubsampled contourlet transform (NSCT) provides flexible multiresolution, anisotropy, and directional expansion for images. Compared with the original contourlet transform, it is shift-invariant and can overcome the pseudo-Gibbs phenomena around singularities. Pulse coupled neural networks (PCNN) is a visual cortex-inspired neural network and characterized by the global coupling and pulse synchronization of neurons. It has been proven suitable for image processing and successfully employed in image fusion. In this paper, NSCT is associated with PCNN and used in image fusion to make full use of the characteristics of them. Spatial frequency in NSCT domain is input to motivate PCNN and coefficients in NSCT domain with large firing times are selected as coefficients of the fused image. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms typical wavelet-based, contourlet-based, PCNN-based, and contourlet-PCNN-based fusion algorithms in terms of objective criteria and visual appearance.

The structural similarity of point clouds presents challenges in accurately recognizing and segmenting semantic information at the demarcation points of complex scenes or objects. In this study, we propose a multi-scale graph transformer network (MGTN) for 3D point cloud semantic segmentation. First, a multi-scale graph convolution (MSG-Conv) is devised to address the limitations faced by existing methods when extracting local and global features of point cloud data with varying densities simultaneously. Subsequently, we employ a graph-transformer (G-T) module to enhance edge details and spatial position information in the point cloud, thereby improving recognition accuracy for small objects and confusing elements such as columns and beams. Extensive testing on ShapeNet parts and S3DIS datasets was conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of MGTN. Compared to the baseline network DGCNN, our proposed MGTN achieves substantial performance improvements, as evidenced by notable increases in mIoU of 1.5% and 18.5% on the ShapeNet parts and S3DIS datasets respectively. Additionally, MGTN outperforms the recent CFSA- Net by 2.3% and 3.4% on OA and mIoU respectively.

In this paper, the robust containment control problem of the leader-following multi-agent systems with input saturation and input additive disturbance is addressed, where the followers can be informed by multiple leaders. With the help of the lowand-high gain feedback technique and the high-gain observer approach, a distributed control algorithm for each agent is firstly designed by using the observed output information, then sufficient conditions are provided to guarantee the semi-global robust containment of the system. Finally, some numerical simulations are given to verify the correctness of the theoretical results.

—In clinical practice, electroencephalography (EEG) plays an important role in the diagnosis of epilepsy. EEG-based computer-aided diagnosis of epilepsy can greatly improve the accuracy of epilepsy detection while reducing the workload of physicians. However, there are many challenges in practical applications for personalized epileptic EEG detection (i.e., training of detection model for a specific person), including the difficulty in extracting effective features from one single view, the undesirable but common scenario of lacking sufficient training data in practice, and the no guarantee of identically distributed training and test data. To solve these problems, we propose a TSK fuzzy system-based epilepsy detection algorithm that integrates multi-view collaborative transfer learning. To address the challenge due to the limitation of single-view features, multi-view learning ensures the diversity of features by extracting them from different views. The lack of training data for building a personalized detection model is tackled by leveraging the knowledge from the source domain (reference scene) to enhance the performance of the target domain (current scene of interest), where mismatch of data distributions between the two domains is resolved with adaption technique based on maximum mean discrepancy. Notably, the transfer learning and multi-view feature extraction are performed at the same time. Furthermore, the fuzzy rules of the TSK fuzzy system equip the model with strong fuzzy logic inference capability. Hence, the proposed method has the potential to detect epileptic EEG signals effectively, which is demonstrated with the positive results from a large number of experiments on the CHB-MIT dataset. © 2021, CC BY-NC-ND.

Intraoperative Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) facilitates intraoperative navigation for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS). However, high-attenuation metal implants used in MISS often cause metal artifacts in the reconstructed CBCT images. Current algorithms do not consider the cross-view information in the projection-domain for metal artifact reduction (MAR). Inaccurate projection-domain inpainting results in CBCT MAR lead to tissue blurring and secondary artifacts, significantly compromising the accuracy of CBCT-guided MISS and increasing surgical risks. To address the above challenge, in this paper, we propose a novel unsupervised cross-view prior inpainting network for CBCT Metal Artifact Reduction named NEAT-Net. Firstly, a cross-view prior multi-scale inpainting module is constructed to learn the inter-view complementary information. Secondly, a hybrid feature attention module is proposed to adaptively fuse cross-view features. In addition, an unsupervised training approach is proposed to directly learn from metal-affected data. Extensive experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of our algorithm on a real clinical dataset.

Recently, multi-wavelength narrow linewidth random fiber laser has very interested for every researcher in this field, because of their useful advantages application, such as high-resolution spectroscopy and fiber optic sensing. In this paper, the standard single-mode fiber is used to form a half-opened cavity structure for generating the narrow linewidth random fiber laser and used the FBG-FP as a filter to form the narrow linewidth RFL into multi-wavelength. Firstly, we used the Rayleigh scattering that processed as well as in a standard single-mode fiber to provide random distribution feedback at the same time while using erbium-doped fiber (EDF) to provide the gain or amplification for achieving a broadband random laser output. Then, FBG-FP is added to the half-open cavity random laser structure. The multi-wavelength and narrow linewidth RFL can be achieved when the broadband RFL goes through the FBG-FP. In this paper we have generated the multi-wavelength narrow linewidth random fiber laser which has more than 10 wavelengths and the 3dB bandwidth is less than 0.01 nm and the mode separation of each wavelength is 0.04nm.

Optic Disk (OD) detection plays an important role for fundus image analysis. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for detecting OD mainly based on a classifier model trained by structured learning. Then we use the model to achieve the edge map of OD. Thresholding is performed on the edge map to obtain a binary image. Finally, circle Hough transform is carried out to approximate the boundary of OD by a circle. The proposed algorithm has been evaluated on the public database and obtained promising results. The results (an area overlap and Dices coefficients of 0.8636 and 0.9196, respectively, an accuracy of 0.9770, and a true positive and false positive fraction of 0.9212 and 0.0106) show that the proposed method is a robust tool for the segmentation of OD and is very competitive with the stage-of-the-art methods.

Infectious Probability Analysis on COVID-19 Spreading with Wireless Edge Networks

The emergence of infectious disease COVID-19 has challenged and changed the world in an unprecedented manner. The integration of wireless networks with edge computing (namely wireless edge networks) brings opportunities to address this crisis. In this paper, we aim to investigate the prediction of the infectious probability and propose precautionary measures against COVID-19 with the assistance of wireless edge networks. Due to the availability of the recorded detention time and the density of individuals within a wireless edge network, we propose a stochastic geometry-based method to analyze the infectious probability of individuals. The proposed method can well keep the privacy of individuals in the system since it does not require to know the location or trajectory of each individual. Moreover, we also consider three types of mobility models and the static model of individuals. Numerical results show that analytical results well match with simulation results, thereby validating the accuracy of the proposed model. Moreover, numerical results also offer many insightful implications. Thereafter, we also offer a number of countermeasures against the spread of COVID-19 based on wireless edge networks. This study lays the foundation toward predicting the infectious risk in realistic environment and points out directions in mitigating the spread of infectious diseases with the aid of wireless edge networks. This paper presents a novel multiobjective constraint handling approach, named as MOEA/D-CDP-ID, to tackle constrained optimization problems. In the proposed method, two mechanisms, namely infeasibility driven (ID) and constrained-domination principle (CDP) are embedded into a prominent multiobjective evolutionary algorithm called MOEA/D. Constraineddomination principle defined a domination relation of two solutions in constraint handling problem. Infeasibility driven preserves a proportion of marginally infeasible solutions to join the searching process to evolve offspring. Such a strategy allows the algorithm to approach the constraint boundary from both the feasible and infeasible side of the search space, thus resulting in gaining a Pareto solution set with better distribution and convergence. The efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed approach are tested on several well-known benchmark test functions. In addition, the proposed MOEA/D-CDP-ID is applied to a real world application, namely design optimization of the two-stage planetary gear transmission system. Experimental results suggest that MOEA/D-CDP-ID can outperform other state-of-the-art algorithms for constrained multiobjective evolutionary optimization. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.
