An efficient generic architecture for two-dimensional discrete wavelet transform (2-D DWT) with line-based method is proposed with using lifting scheme, in which the parallelism of four subbands transform in lifting-based 2-D DWT is exploited. The proposed architecture is designed to generate 4 subbands coefficients concurrently per clock cycle that :an perform a 1-level decomposition of a N/spl times/N image in approximately N/sup 2//4 working clock cycles, which has faster throughput rate but requires less hardware cost compared 10 the designs reported in previous literature.

In clinical practice, digital subtraction angiography (DSA) is a powerful technique for the visualization of blood vessels in X-ray image sequences. Different with traditional DSA image registration processes, in our proposed image registration method, the control points are selected from the vessel centerlines using multiscale Gabor filters, and mutual information (MI) is then taken as the similarity criterion to find the correspondences. Experimental results demonstrate our algorithm efficiently yields satisfying registration result for DSA images.

A reference frame selection algorithm was proposed to fast determine the reference frames required by the current macroblock, which can avoid redundant reference frames. This algorithm can utilize the texture characteristic of sequence to estimate the possible number of reference frames, and further determine the best reference frame of 16 × 16, 8 × 8 and 4 × 4 modes according to the motion information and the monotony of RDO among different reference frames. So the likely reference frames of other modes may be adaptively chosen according to the correlation of reference frame selection with the above modes. The results showed that it can save about 30% of encoding time while maintaining nearly unchanged PSNR and bit-rate.

Computed tomography plays an important role in industrial non-destructive testing, medical applications, astronomy and many other fields to look inside the scanned object and to analysis its inner structures. A non-destructive testing software have been developed to efficiently detect inner flaws of space industrial components. As the core of our software, reconstruction algorithms including preprocess of raw data, re-arrange algorithm and filtered back-projection algorithms have been described in detail in this article. With real raw data from CASC of China, experimental results verified the applied reconstruction algorithm in our software. Furthermore, forward algorithms simulating generation of fan-beam raw data are also presented in this article.

Digital watermarking has been proposed for the copyright protections of multimedia products. In this paper, a robust and blind watermarking scheme is presented. The concept of communication with side information is applied at the encoder to improve the probability of detection within acceptable fidelity, while the template matching technique is employed to estimate the undergone attacks in attacking channel. This scheme is optimized by the optimal design of the encoder to match with the media content and the decoder to adapt to the attack channel state. Experiments show that our method is robust against some common attacks such as filtering, compression, rotation, scaling, cropping and translation. It can be applied to both color and gray images.

The major problem of level set segmentation is boundary leakage when a weak boundary or missing part of a boundary occurs. Some efforts, e.g., adding extra stopping criteria or region information, have been used to avoid such problem. However, in existing level-set techniques, the gradient information is used as stopping criteria for curve evolution, and also provides the attracting force to the zero level set from a target boundary, which can never fully stop the level set evolution even for ideal edges and thereby makes leakage unavoidable. In this paper, we proposed an adaptive speed term based on generalized fuzzy operator (GFO), as a replacement for traditional gradient-based edge map applied in level set segmentation techniques. The proposed GFO provides more robust edge estimation and more reliable criteria for adaptively changing the advent speed. Therefore, by using this term, the leakage problem can be avoided effectively in most cases compared to traditional level set methods. Additionally, the computation of the adaptive approach proposed in this paper is fast and its extension to the 3-D case is straightforward.

It is necessary to study the radiation characteristic of metal solid objects for millimeter wave passive guidance. On the basis of discussing the grounded theory, the antenna temperature contrast formula of metal solid objects is presented. Furthermore equivalent radiometric section coefficient based on scale-shrinking measuring theory is proposed in favor of engineering applications. The 8 mm theoretical calculation and actual measurement are mostly below 1K. So, equivalent radiometric section coefficient gives a virtual way for engineering measurement of metal solid objects.
