SAR image despeckling based on edge detection and nonsubsampled second generation bandelets

To preserve the sharp features and details of the synthetic aperture radar （SAR） image effectively when despeckling, a despeckling algorithm with edge detection in nonsubsampled second generation bandelet transform （NSBT） domain is proposed. First, the Canny operator is utilized to detect and remove edges from the SAR image. Then the NSBT which has an optimal approximation to the edges of images and a hard thresholding rule are used to approximate the details while despeckling the edge-removed image. Finally, the removed edges are added to the reconstructed image. As the edges axe detected and protected, and the NSBT is used, the proposed algorithm reaches the state-of-the-art effect which realizes both despeckling and preserving edges and details simultaneously. Experimental results show that both the subjective visual effect and the mainly objective performance indexes of the proposed algorithm outperform that of both Bayesian wavelet shrinkage with edge detection and Bayesian least square-Gaussian scale mixture （BLS-GSM）.

In this paper, we study various video stabilization techniques and develop an algorithm which can perform video stabilization under strict time constraints. To do this, an optimized version of block matching in a restricted search space is utilized to minimize the use of computational resources. We also develop an experimental setup to do real-time video stabilization under various vibrating conditions. In this study, we have also compared our algorithm with an existing stabilization algorithm and looked at how the two techniques perform under different circumstances. © 2017 IEEE.

Gait recognition has already achieved satisfactory performance on small databases under ideal conditions. Most of the existing approaches represent gait pattern using a locomotion model or statistic model of human silhouette. However, it is still a challenging task to conduct human gait identification under variations of clothing and carrying condition in real scenes. In this paper, an adaptive part-based feature selection method is proposed to filter out interference feature blocks and a matching procedure is performed to identify the correct subject. Compared with the state-of-the-art methods on a large standard dataset, the proposed method shows an encouraging computational complexity reduction and performance improvement in identification rates. © 2010 IEEE.

Color cues are important for recognizing flames in fire surveillance. Accordingly, the rational selection of color space should be considered as a nontrivial issue in classification of fire elements. In this paper, quantitative measures are established using learning-based classifiers to evaluate fire recognition accuracy within different color spaces. Rather than dealing with color channels separately, the color pixels are encoded as quaternions so as to be clustered as whole units in color spaces. Then, a set of quaternion Gabor wavelets are constructed to establish an comprehensive analysis tool for local spectral, spatial and temporal characteristics of fire regions. Their quaternion Gaussian kernels are used to represent the spectral distribution of fire pixel clusters. In addition, a 2D band-pass filter kernel contained in the quaternion Gabor extracts spatial contours of fire regions. Another 1D temporal filter kernel is enforced to capture random flickering behavior in the fire regions, greatly reducing the false alarms from the regular moving objects. For early alerts and high detection rate of fire events, smoke region is also recognized from its dynamic textures in the proposed fire surveillance system. Experimental results under a variety of conditions show the proposed vision-based surveillance method is capable of detecting flame and smoke reliably. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

An upper limb robotic exoskeleton of three degrees of freedom (DOF) is designed for the patients who survived stroke and the elderly who have not enough strength to move their limbs freely. Particular attention is paid to the realization of a intention-driven robotic control approach, by which the robotic exoskeleton can assist the user moving his/her arm freely to where he/she intends to go. A force sensing system made of multiple force sensing resisters (FSRs) is embedded in the robotic exoskeleton. A static force model of the upper limb in a relaxed state is obtained when the user wears the exoskeleton. A hybrid model is proposed to describe the behavior modes of human upper limb motion. Filtering technology is designed to infer the intended moving direction of upper limb based on the measured force information and the static force model. The motion intention of user's upper limb can be online estimated using the filter and a mode transition detector. Guided by the inferred intention, an admittance control strategy is assumed to control the motors of each DOF. The effectiveness of proposed robotic system and control approaches is evaluated by experiments. ©2010 IEEE.

Rate control is one of the key factors influencing the multi-view video ***,there is not a rate control algorithm in the existing Joint Multi-view Video Coding *** this paper,an efficient rate control algorithm and a bit allocation strategy for multi-view video coding are *** order to obtain the consistent view quality,a bit allocation model based on the Lagrange optimum algorithm is firstly ***,considering the encoding statistical characteristics of different view types,a view weighting factor is introduced,and it will help improve the precision of bit allocation among *** with the fixed QP control strategy,experiment results show that the proposed algorithm can efficiently control the bit rate and obtain more consistent views,with video visual quality improved.

With the development of mobile network and communication technology, traditional supply chain management is gradually updating to mobile supply chain management, and multi-agent technology has been considered as a very efficient method for supply chain management in mobile environment. After considering the characteristics and limitations of mobile supply chain, and according to the requirements in the manufacturing domain, this paper designs a multi-agent middleware for mobile supply chain management, aiming to solve integration problems and shield off network and terminal heterogeneity in mobile environment, which can achieve mobile supply chain dynamic integration and then improve the efficiency of supply chain management. Its feasibility and efficiency was demonstrated by experiments. © 2011 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

We use the visibility graph analysis to research EEG signal and construct the complex network of EEG signal. In the paper, we construct the network by using EEG signal of the people with occupational stress and the normal people. Some properties of the complex network are found in this paper. The results of our experiment show that the properties of the normal people and the people with occupational stress are different.

Based on the analysis of color histogram for image retrieval, a new descriptor, bit-plane distribution feature(BPDF), is proposed in this paper. The image is firstly divided into eight bit-planes. Meantime, the Gray code of bit-planes is used to avoid the effect of changes in the intensity values on bit-planes. Then, according to the distribution of each bit-plane, a feature vector is constructed by the first four significant planes which contain most of the structural information of the image. Finally, the Mahalanobis distance is adopted to measure the similarity because of the correlation between the concerned vectors after designing a correlation-weighted matrix. Comparisons are conducted between BPDF and other descriptors. Experimental results show that the proposed method provides more significantly retrieval results than the traditional ones. © 2009 IEEE.

Path planning and tracking algorithms are one of the cores of autonomous navigation technology for unmanned ground vehicle (UGV). In this paper, a local obstacle avoidance method based on event-triggered control is proposed to ensure that the UGV avoids obstacles in the tracking process. First, the path planning and tracking control problem of the UGV is modeled and formulated. Second, the improvement and logical correlation of the relevant algorithms are described in detail. Finally, ajoint simulation of MATlab and V-rep is performed. The simulation results show that event-triggered control can largely improve the reliability of the UGV path planning and tracking process, and verify the effectiveness of the algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.
