Human action recognition has been one of the hot topics in computer vision both from the handcrafted and deep learning approaches. In the handcrafted approach, the extracted features are encoded for reducing the size of these features. Amonsgt the state-of-the-art approaches is to encode these visual features using the Gaussian mixture model. However, the size of the codebook is an issue in terms of the computation complexity, especially for large-scale data as it requires encoding using a large codebook. In this paper, we introduced the use of different optimizers to reduce the codebook size while boosting its accuracy. To illustrate the performance, first we use the improved dense trajectories (IDT) to extract the handcrafted features. This is followed with encoding the descriptor using Fisher kernel-based codebook using the Gaussian mixture model. Next, the support vector machine is used to classify the categories. We then use and compare five different Stochastic gradient descent optimization techniques to modify the number of Gaussian components. In this manner we are able to select the discriminative foreground features (as represented by the final number of Gaussian components), and omit the background features. Finally, to show the performance improvement of the proposed method, we implement this technique to two datasets UCF101 and HMDB51. © 2022 SPIE.

This paper addresses an effective issue of content-based image retrieval (CBIR) by presenting Fuzzy Hamming Distance (FHD). Firstly, the theory of FHD is introduced, which includes degree of difference and cardinality of the fuzzy set, and then follows defuzzification of FHD which is used as a fuzzy similarity measure. In the experiment, the image retrieval results show this method can be employed to capture implicitly some semantic contents of the image in addition to other features such as color, texture and shape. Finally, an implemented prototype system demonstrates a promising retrieval performance for a test database, as compared with FUZZYCLUB system. © 2007 IEEE.

To prevent the occurrence of burnout and karoshi,we try to detect and diagnose job stress in clinical practice using electroencephalogram(EEG).The EEG data were taken from 12 graduate students and 12 nurses from a third-grade class-A hospital,which two groups have the different job *** sampling frequency was 200 Hz,and the complexity of the electroencephalogram and its dynamic range were calculated based on Jensen-Shannon Divergence.T test value of the two groups was equal to 4.414 which confidence probability is 0.001,indicating the Jensen-Shannon Divergence value of students is less than that of ***,groups with different degree of job stress can be non-destructively and more easily diagnosed by the complexity of EEG data compared with blood samples,which is conducive to the evaluation,prevention and intervention of job stress and health promotion.

A Hierarchical Optimizing Energy Management Strategy for Alleviating Degradation in Fuel Cell Hybrid System

This study designs an energy management strategy for fuel cell hybrid vehicles aimed to alleviating the performance degradation of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC), fuel consumption, and battery State of Charge (SOC) fluctuations during vehicle operation. The research focuses on the decrease in Electrochemical Surface Area (ECSA) due to Platinum (Pt) catalyst degradation, which is a key factor influencing PEMFC durability. An ECSA model based on the Pt dissolution mechanism is established, and a dynamic condition accelerated stress test (DC-AST) is designed to specifically investigate the impacts of key parameters, such as cycle period, amplitude, and duty cycle on the degradation of ECSA. This reveals the association between ECSA degradation and irregular potential fluctuations. A hierarchical power allocation strategy is then proposed, combining the global search capabilities of optimization algorithms with heuristic strategies in light of these features. The upper level employs Pontryagin's Minimum Principle (PMP) strategy for global power allocation optimization, while the lower level uses a satisfaction-based heuristic strategy that is tailored to the ECSA degradation characteristics, to dynamically adjust power output. Simulation results demonstrate that, compared to traditional rule-based strategies and classical PMP-based strategies, the proposed energy management strategy more effectively mitigates ECSA degradation of PEMFC under typical vehicle conditions.

Semantic-based image retrieval bridges the gap between visual features and human understanding of image in the field of image retrieval. image annotation is one important technology of image retrieval based on the semantic. This paper proposed one method to realize semi-automatic image annotation with the tool Support Vector Machine (SVM). The image collection was divided into two parts, one for manual annotation and the other for testing. After being classified by SVM, the output was changed into a probability, and K-NN algorithm was applied to get the keywords for unlabeled images. The experiments show that the approach is feasible. © 2007 IEEE.

The Multiscale Mutual Model Entropy algorithm is presented to quantify the coupling degree between two EEG time series collected at the same time on different *** extracted the characteristics of EEG signals from the healthy and epileptics based on the *** results show that the entropy value of healthy people is higher than that of *** with the increase of scale,the difference in entropy value between them is more *** indicates that Multiscale Mutual Entropy can distinguish the coupling difference between normal samples and case samples,which is significant for the clinical pathological assessment and brain disease diagnosis.

Sleep Electroencephalogram(Sleep EEG) detection and treatment can provide the basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment. According to the non-stationary random character of EEG itself, the paper proposed multiscale sign series entropy(MSSE) method and applied it to the state of sleep EEG analysis. Numerical results showed that, MSSE method can effectively differentiate awake period β wave and sleep stage β wave even if under the influence of the noise. The results show that the algorithm can aid in clinical diagnosis of sleep EEG.

Traditional Markov random Field (MRF) methods assume that neighboring pixels tend to have the same label. However, this assumption is always inconsistent with the actual situation and affects the resultant accuracy of the algorithm. To overcome this, we propose an object-based Markov Random Field (OMRF) model and a change detection method based on OMRF model. The OMRF model assumes that pixels within same object are in the same class. First, we generate the difference image from multi-temporal remote sensing images. Second, Mean Shift is applied to extract objects from difference image. Finally, change detection map is generated by iterative algorithm. The experimental results show that the algorithm can effectively improve the detection accuracy of the algorithm on real remote sensing datasets. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
