A novel algorithm for matching synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image to Optical image based on lineal feature using Hausdorff distance combined with genetic algorithm is proposed in this paper. A new method is presented to extract lineal feature from low signal to noise ratio (SNR) SAR image. Based on the edge image from SAR and Optical image, modified Hausdorff distance is adopted as a similarity measure because it is insensitive to noise. Genetic algorithm is used as searching strategy to achieve high computation speed for its inertial parallel. Experimental results using real SAR and Optical images demonstrate that the algorithm is robust, fast and can achieve high matching accuracy.

Person re-identification has gradually become a hot research topic in many fields, such as security, criminal investigation and video analysis. In this paper, we propose a novel feature extraction framework for video-based person re-identification, namely, the partial attribute-driven network (PADNet). The proposed method is based on the deep-learning architecture and incorporates the attribute and identity learning of the pedestrian. Existing attribute research always focuses on the feature representation at the global-level. Unlike them, first, the pedestrian is automatically partitioned to several body parts in our work. Then the pedestrian and his/her body parts are annotated by the global and partial attributes, respectively. Finally, we employ a four-branch multi-label network to explore the spatial-temporal cues of videos by utilizing these labeled samples. Extensive experiments are conducted on two video-based datasets, including PRID2011 and iLIDS-VID. The experimental results demonstrate the superiority and effectiveness of the proposed PADNet over the state-of-the-art approaches.

This paper investigates a new stability criterion for generalized (Q,S,R) — α dissipativity for externally interfered discrete systems with saturation overflow nonlinearity. The proposed criterion is capable of establishing various specific criteria for H ∞ , mixed H ∞ /passivity, and passivity performances in an integrated system through manipulation in weight matrices. Further, an exponential stability criterion for the discrete system with generalized dissipativity is also presented. To facilitate the ease of traceability, the proposed conditions are built in terms of linear matrix inequality. Appropriate numerical examples are used to support the validity of the proposed work.

Efficient reconfigurable VLSI architecture for 1-D 5/3 and 9/7 wavelet transforms adopted in JPEG2000 proposal, based on lifting scheme is proposed. The embedded decimation technique based on fold and time multiplexing, as well as embedded boundary data extension technique, is adopted to optimize the design of the architecture. These reduce significantly the required numbers of the multipliers, adders and registers, as well as the amount of accessing external memory, and lead to decrease efficiently the hardware cost and power consumption of the design. The architecture is designed to generate an output per clock cycle, and the detailed component and the approximation of the input signal are available alternately. Experimental simulation and comparison results are presented, which demonstrate that the proposed architecture has lower hardware complexity, thus it is adapted for embedded applications. The presented architecture is simple, regular and scalable, and well suited for VLSI implementation.

Traditional video synopsis methods model the processing into an optimization formula where relations among objects such as collision cost are utilized while entire re-calculation is introduced under each possible temporal shift. Unlike the pairwise cost optimization, we propose a low-complexity and efficient online synopsis method where each tube is processed independently. Without tubes' comparison, the rearrangement is accomplished by a simple projection strategy and an updating projection matrix which records the newest information of the moving space. Furthermore, buffer and a predefined fitness condition also help to increase spatial and temporal utilization. Experiment results demonstrate that the proposed method is superior to other synopsis methods in the processing speed and temporal consistency.

Since the lighting conditions in strong contrast regions between the light and dark cant be estimated accurately by traditional center/surround Retinex algorithm, the over-enhancement and color distortion may exist. In view of this, combining with the human visual characteristics, a color image enhancement algorithm based on tone-preserving was proposed. A determination function was added to the bilateral filter to estimate illuminance image more accurately and weaken over-enhancement. According to human visual masking effect, the improved gamma correction was utilized to correct the brightness of illumination image adaptively and the local contrast of reflection image obtained by division was enhanced based on local statistics. Besides, the final enhanced image was obtained by combining illumination image with reflection image, which can make image appear more natural. Compared with other similar algorithms from both subjective and objective aspects, the results show that this method being applied to low-contrast color image enhancement can not only improve image clarity, but reduce color distortion.
