This paper realizes a new method to segment intracranial structure from series of Cerebral Computerized Tomography (CT) automatically. Firstly, a region growing and morphology based approach is developed to extract intracranial structures from series cerebral computerized tomography with the knowledge of anatomy, and then focusing on the problems of parameter initialization of the expectation maximization (EM)algorithm, an improved EM algorithm based on ParameterLimited Gaussian Mixture Model is presented to segment intracranial structures successfully. Experiment shows that this method is successful on all cerebral computerized tomography from bottom to top part of cerebra.

This paper introduces a new class of switching vector median filter. The proposed algorithm first uses four directional masks to analyze the color difference between the central pixel and its neighborhood pixels in the RGB color space and classify each color pixel into noisy pixel or noise-free one, and then employs the standard vector median filtering operations in the detected noisy locations to restore the corrupted pixels and leave the noise-free ones unchanged. The simulation results show that the proposed method excellently suppresses impulsive noise as well as preserving the image details well, and significantly outperforms the existing vector filtering solutions in terms of both the objective measures and the perceptual visual quality.

The H.264 video coding standard has a significant performance benefit versus former standards. However, motion compensation decoding process takes up a significant decoding time due to the advanced coding features. In this paper, the theory of motion compensation decoding in H.264 is given at first. Then the improved method is proposed by motion compensation fast decoding algorithm and optimization based on ADI Blackfin533 hardware platform. Both PC and ADI Blackfin533 experimental results show that the proposed optimization strategy can substantially improve the efficiency of real-time H.264 decoder.

In this paper, We apply the support value transform (SVT) to Ikonos image fusion. The fused saliency features are represented by support values and extracted by SVT. The low-resolution MS bands are resampled to the fine scale of the Pan image and sharpened by injecting the detailed features extracted from the high-resolution Pan image. This letter proposes a novel method of compressed video super-resolution reconstruction based on MAP-POCS (Maximum Posterior Probability-Projection Onto Convex Set). At first assuming the high-resolution model subject to Poisson-Markov distribution, then constructing the projecting convex based on MAP. According to the characteristics of compressed video, two different convexes are constructed based on integrating the inter-frame and intra-frame information in the wavelet-domain. The results of the experiment demonstrate that the new method not only outperforms the traditional algorithms on the aspects of PSNR (Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio), MSE (Mean Square Error) and reconstruction vision effect, but also has the advantages of rapid convergence and easy extension.

In distributed video coding (DVC), efficient compression is achieved by exploiting source statistics at the decoder only, which is radically different from conventional video coding. The pixel-domain Wyner-Ziv video coding is a kind of typical distributed video coding scheme, in which the encoder can be very simple and the complexity of the coder is transferred to the decoder. The performance of pixel-domain Wyner-Ziv video codec is greatly dependent on quality of side information and reconstruction arithmetic. In this paper we propose an improved method of pixel-domain Wyner-Ziv video coding based on side information estimate and decoding reconstruction at the decoder. The results of simulation tests show that better visual quality and average 1.5dB gain can be achieved by applying the proposed method.
