In this paper, we revisit the interval observer design problem of harmonic oscillator system with unknown but bounded external disturbance and measurement noise. With the bounding information of the external disturbance and measurement noise, a high-gain interval observer is firstly defined and constructed for the harmonic oscillator system to realize the interval estimation on the state and the robust control of the system. Then, a switched high-gain interval observer is proposed to reduce the influence of the measurement noise for a tighter interval width on the state estimation. Finally, some numerical simulations are given to verify the theoretical results. © 2023 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Mobile wheeled inverted pendulum (MWIP) is a typical naturally unstable underactuated system and it is very necessary to constrain its transient response to improve the overall safety. Prescribed performance control (PPC) is an effective method, however the system initial conditions are usually required to be known and constraint, otherwise it can lead to singularity problems. In practical systems, it is often difficult to obtain the exact initial state leading to limitations in the application of PPC. To overcome this issue, this paper presented a composite error transformation function to address the problem of initial condition dependence. A continuous bounded function was designed to compress the arbitrary initial error into the predefined bound to avoid singularities. After a set time, it was degraded to an original system error. Based on this composite transformation, a state feedback controller was proposed for the underactuated MWIP system to achieve the constraint outputs. Then, by employing the Lyapunov theorem, it was guaranteed that the closed-loop system would remain stable. Various numerical simulations under different initial conditions were carried out to prove the validity of the proposed controller.

Edge-Assisted Flexible Platooning of Connected and Automated Vehicles Under Traffic Anomaly

The platooning of connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) has the great potential to significantly improve travel experience in terms of safety, comfortableness, and energy efficiency. However, constrained by sensing range and prediction accuracy, the performance of CAV platoon can not be guaranteed in the scenario of mixed traffic consisting of CAVs and human-driven vehicles (HDVs). This is not only due to the uncertainty of HDVs but also related to the occurrence of various traffic anomalies, such as emergency braking and accidents. In this paper, we aim to investigate an efficient control strategy to guarantee the operation of the platoon in mixed traffic, especially in the case of traffic anomalies. To tackle the problem, an edge-assisted platoon control strategy, called E-CACC, is proposed. First, an error-aware flexible tracking policy is designed to adapt to HDV uncertainties and speed prediction errors. Based on the tracking policy, a zone model predictive control (ZMPC) method is then designed to guarantee travel safety and avoid undesired acceleration. Further, a coordination strategy of CAV platoon and roadside unit (RSU) is proposed to prevent the platoon from potential collision in the case of traffic anomalies, where an event-based communication trigger is designed to determine whether and when the platoon establishes communication links with RSU to acquire exogenous sensing data of anomaly segment. Finally, the evaluation results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in improving travel safety and comfortableness. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

CLIP-guided Prototype Modulating for Few-shot Action Recognition

Learning from large-scale contrastive language-image pre-training like CLIP has shown remarkable success in a wide range of downstream tasks recently, but it is still under-explored on the challenging few-shot action recognition (FSAR) task. In this work, we aim to transfer the powerful multimodal knowledge of CLIP to alleviate the inaccurate prototype estimation issue due to data scarcity, which is a critical problem in low-shot regimes. To this end, we present a CLIP-guided prototype modulating framework called CLIP-FSAR, which consists of two key components: a video-text contrastive objective and a prototype modulation. Specifically, the former bridges the task discrepancy between CLIP and the few-shot video task by contrasting videos and corresponding class text descriptions. The latter leverages the transferable textual concepts from CLIP to adaptively refine visual prototypes with a temporal Transformer. By this means, CLIP-FSAR can take full advantage of the rich semantic priors in CLIP to obtain reliable prototypes and achieve accurate few-shot classification. Extensive experiments on five commonly used benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method, and CLIP-FSAR significantly outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods under various settings. Localization using a monocular camera in the pre-built LiDAR point cloud map has drawn increasing attention in the field of autonomous driving and mobile robotics. However, there are still many challenges (e.g. difficulties of map storage, poor localization robustness in large scenes) in accurately and efficiently implementing cross-modal localization. To solve these problems, a novel pipeline termed LHMap-loc is proposed, which achieves accurate and efficient monocular localization in LiDAR maps. Firstly, feature encoding is carried out on the original LiDAR point cloud map by generating offline heat point clouds, by which the size of the original LiDAR map is compressed. Then, an end-to-end online pose regression network is designed based on optical flow estimation and spatial attention to achieve real-time monocular visual localization in a pre-built map. In addition, a series of experiments have been conducted to prove the effectiveness of the proposed method. Our code is available at: https://***/IRMVLab/LHMap-loc.

ChatGPT as a representative of Artificial Intelligence in Generative Computing (AIGC) has had an impact on higher education. It promotes "human-computer collaboration" in coursework, showing both positive and negative effects. ChatGPT has the potential to provide students with personalized learning support. However, students may become too reliant on these tools and lack independent thinking. Aiming at the above problems, this paper introduces the idea of practical homework resource construction, and provides a series of anti-ChatGPT strategies, which can prevent students ChatGPT’s "one-click answer" from the source. Point-and-Shoot All-in-Focus Photo Synthesis from Smartphone Camera Pair

All-in-Focus (AIF) photography is expected to be a commercial selling point for modern smartphones. Standard AIF synthesis requires manual, time-consuming operations such as focal stack compositing, which is unfriendly to ordinary people. To achieve point-and-shoot AIF photography with a smartphone, we expect that an AIF photo can be generated from one shot of the scene, instead of from multiple photos captured by the same camera. Benefiting from the multi-camera module in modern smartphones, we introduce a new task of AIF synthesis from main (wide) and ultra-wide cameras. The goal is to recover sharp details from defocused regions in the main-camera photo with the help of the ultra-wide-camera one. The camera setting poses new challenges such as parallax-induced occlusions and inconsistent color between cameras. To overcome the challenges, we introduce a predict-and-refine network to mitigate occlusions and propose dynamic frequency-domain alignment for color correction. To enable effective training and evaluation, we also build an AIF dataset with 2686 unique scenes. Each scene includes two photos captured by the main camera, one photo captured by the ultra-wide camera, and a synthesized AIF photo. Results show that our solution, termed EasyAIF, can produce high-quality AIF photos and outperforms strong baselines quantitatively and qualitatively. A New Hybrid Adaptive Self-Loading Fxlms and Cnn-Gru Net for Active Time-Varying Noise control

Active noise control (ANC) provides a lightweight and quick-to-deploy noise attenuation solution compared to traditional passive noise control. However, time-varying noise caused by the changing acoustic environment usually occurs in moving spaces, such as a car cabin, which further deteriorates the robustness of the adaptive filter and even deep networks in the ANC system. To use a deep ANC neural network with great denoising performance in a complex time-varying noise environment and reduce the interference of uncertain noise on the stability of the network, a new hybrid adaptive self-loading filtered-x least mean square (ASL-FxLMS) and convolutional neural network-gate recurrent unit (CNN-GRU) network is proposed. First, based on the CNN-LSTM structure, an improved CNN-GRU network with a multi-head attention mechanism is proposed to enhance attenuation performance for complicated periodical components in the time-varying noise and decrease the computing load as much as possible. In addition, an improved time-delay estimator is applied to improve the real-time ANC performance of CNN-GRU. Meanwhile, an adaptive self-loading FxLMS algorithm has been developed to deal with the uncertain components of time-varying noise. Moreover, to achieve balance attenuation, robustness, and tracking performance, the ASL-FxLMS and CNN-GRU are connected by a convex combination structure. Cancer-associated biomarker genes play an indispensable role in the intricate tapestry of cancer development and manifestation. The expression of biomarkers in different types of tumor cells has beneficial implications for shedding light on the development of various cancers, guiding clinical diagnosis, and treatment. Microarray technology enables the expression levels of thousands of genes in samples to be sequenced simultaneously. However, sparse and high-dimensional microarray data present a formidable challenge in identifying biomarker genes. This study presents EREF-NSGA2, a novel method for cancer biomarker selection from microarray data, employing a hybrid gene selection approach. Firstly, the combination of the wrapper and embedded gene selection methods is proposed to filter the microarray data, which efficiently decreases the search space of the algorithm. After that, the improved NSGA-II algorithm is used to search the genes subset obtained from the previous step to reach the optimal subset of cancer biomarker genes. The proposed EREF-NSGA2 is compared with other reported methods on six cancer benchmark gene expression datasets. A detailed biological analysis is performed to analyze the relationship between the selected genes and the cancer data sets they belong to. To summarize, EREF-NSGA2 proves its effectiveness in selecting a feature subset comprising the fewest genes while maintaining the highest classification accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.
