The monitoring of smoke emissions serves as a crucial reference for guiding operations in the steel industry. However, due to the scarcity of industrial smoke datasets, most deep learning methods encounter difficulties when addressing this problem. To address the issue of limited smoke data, this paper proposes a novel data augmentation method called the bidirectional recurrent generative network. This algorithm combines the concepts of recurrent generative networks and Laplacian pyramid networks to learn smoke generation from smoke-free blast furnaces and eliminate smoke from smoke blast furnaces. In order to overcome the limitation of recurrent generative networks in accurately depicting target contours, this paper introduces contour feature vectors, which provide precise characterization of the target contours through constraint-based feature vectors. Furthermore, to alleviate the difficulty of generation, the Laplacian pyramid model is introduced, which reduces parameters and learning time by learning from low-resolution images. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, extensive ablation experiments and comparative trials are conducted on four different smoke image datasets from industrial scenarios with limited quantities. The results demonstrate significant improvements achieved by this paper's algorithm. Compared to other generation methods, the proposed algorithm exhibits superior performance in smoke generation tasks, offering an effective solution to address the challenges of scarce industrial smoke data and the training difficulties faced by related deep learning algorithms. © 2024 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Molecular representation learning is widely used in the field of drug discovery, due to its ability to accurately capture the complex features of compounds in high-dimensional space. However, existing molecular representation learning models are prone to be influenced by spurious parts during distribution shifts (also known as out-of-distribution, or OOD), which results in models mistakenly treating these spurious parts as crucial features of molecules, thereby limiting the generalization capability of the models. To tackle this issue, a novel invariant molecular representation learning model, called Causal Invariant Hierarchical Molecular Representation Graph Neural Networks (CHiMoGNN), is proposed for OOD molecular property prediction. In CHiMoGNN, a Feature Enhancement (FE) module is designed to leverage the multi-level molecular parts to enhance the expression of invariant features, thereby enhancing the model's capability to capture key molecular information. In addition, a Cartesian Product based Environmental Impact (EI) module is adopted to generate counterfactual samples with environmental diversity. Consequently, these samples are utilized to train a classifier that maintains consistent performance across various environments. Extensive experiments on seven real-world datasets demonstrate that CHiMoGNN outperforms 9 state-of-the-art models, achieving a 5.73% increase in average ROC-AUC, and the results also show that CHiMoGNN can effectively maintain generalization in various distribution shifts. This study introduces an innovative approach for gesture recognition in smart wearable devices using a deep domain adaptation model, focusing on the challenges posed by heterogeneous user environments and the need for precise, adaptable, and personalized gesture recognition systems. Traditional methods based on machine learning and deep learning techniques, while effective, struggle with the variance in data distribution among different users, leading to accuracy challenges. To address this,the study proposes the Domain Kernel-Alignment Adaptation Network(DKAN) model, utilizing a new Kernel-Aligned Multi-kernel Maximum Mean Discrepancy(KAMMD) method within deep networks. By calculating kernel alignments between source and target domains and adjusting weights of Gaussian kernels accordingly, DKAN emphasizes features conducive to transfer learning, enabling more accurate cross-user gesture recognition. The model achieves a significant average accuracy of 97.3% across 21 gestures, highlighting its potential in practical applications. This advancement addresses challenges in traditional gesture recognition methods and sets a new direction for future research in smart wearable technology.

In this paper, the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system as the contributor of building climate management is studied on multi-zone climate dynamics modelling and control for occupancy comfort. The first-principles model together with data-driven model as the hybrid model is proposed for comprehensive multi-zone hygro-thermal dynamics. The unmodeled climate dynamics such as unknown nonlinearity and uncertainty is modeled in a linear form based on the compact form dynamic linearization (CFDL) method. Then model free adaptive control (MFAC) scheme including controller design and parameter estimation is proposed to realize multi-zone climate control and occupancy comfort. The dynamic response performance of the hybrid model-based adaptive control and the first-principles model-based adaptive control has been tested in a multi-zone building with four different zones. The results show that the proposed hybrid model-based adaptive control scheme can achieve obvious performance improvement in minimizing steady-state error. © 2022 IEEE.

The scale of grain production affects human life and development. With the continuous expansion of cultivated land, the reproductive ability of weeds to mutiply gradually increases, which affects the growth of crops. If weeds are not treated properly managed, they can also allow spread indiscriminately in the field and reduce crop yields. The growth ability of weeds is stronger than that of crops, and there are many types of weeds with a wide of species diversity. To solve the problem that the existing weed detection methods cannot detect and classify weeds accurately and quickly, a deep learning method based on improved Yolov5 was designed for weed detection. By replacing the 3 × 3 convolution with multi-head self-attention (MHSA) in the Yolov5's backbone, the accuracy of weed detection is improved. The experimental results show that the improved Yolov5 weed detection algorithm achieves 51.4% accuracy. Compared with the original Yolov5 model, the calculation amount is 3 points less than the original, and total time required is slightly shorter, which improves the accuracy of weed classification and positioning. © 2023 IEEE.

Emotion recognition in conversation(ERC) has attracted growing attention in recent years as a result of the advancement and implementation of human-computer interface technologies. In this paper,we propose an emotional inertia and contagion-driven dependency modeling approach(EmotionIC) for ERC tasks. Our EmotionIC consists of three main components, i.e., identity masked multi-head attention(IMMHA), dialogue-based gated recurrent unit(DiaGRU), and skip-chain conditional random field(SkipCRF).Compared to previous ERC models, EmotionIC can model a conversation more thoroughly at both the feature-extraction and classification levels. The proposed model attempts to integrate the advantages of attention-and recurrence-based methods at the feature-extraction level. Specifically, IMMHA is applied to capture identity-based global contextual dependencies, while Dia GRU is utilized to extract speaker-and temporal-aware local contextual information. At the classification level, SkipCRF can explicitly mine complex emotional flows from higher-order neighboring utterances in the conversation. Experimental results show that our method can significantly outperform the state-of-the-art models on four benchmark *** ablation studies confirm that our modules can effectively model emotional inertia and contagion.

Due to the non-stationarity and large individual differences of EEG signals, EEG-based brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) usually need subject-specific calibration to tailor the decoding algorithm for each new subject, which is time-consuming and user-unfriendly, hindering their real-world applications. Transfer learning (TL) has been extensively used to expedite the calibration, by making use of EEG data from other subjects/sessions. An important consideration in TL for EEG-based BCIs is to reduce the data distribution discrepancies among different subjects/session, to avoid negative transfer. Euclidean alignment (EA) was proposed in 2020 to address this challenge. Numerous experiments from 10 different BCI paradigms demonstrated its effectiveness and efficiency. This paper revisits the EA, explaining its procedure and correct usage, introducing its applications and extensions, and pointing out potential new research directions. It should be very helpful to BCI researchers, especially those who are working on EEG signal decoding. © 2025, CC BY.

Missed polyps are the major risk factor for colorectal cancer. To minimize misdiagnosis, many methods have been developed. However, they either rely on laborious instance-level annotations, require labeling of prompt points, or lack the ability to filter noise proposals and detect polyps integrally, resulting in severe challenges in this area. In this paper, we propose a novel Cooperation-Based network (CBNet), a two-stage polyp detection framework supervised by image labels that removes wrong proposals through classification in collaboration with segmentation and obtains a more accurate detector by aggregating adaptive multi-level regional features. Specifically, we conduct a Cooperation-Based Region Proposal Network (CBRPN) to reduce the negative impact of noises by deleting proposals without polyps, enabling our network to capture polyp features. Moreover, to enhance location integrity and classification precision of polyps, we aggregate multi-level region of interest (ROI) features under the guidance of the backbone classification layer, namely Adaptive ROI Fusion Module (ARFM). Extensive experiments on the public and private datasets show that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance for weakly supervised methods and even outperforms full supervision in some terms. Considering smoke detection in a complex scene, high smoke object error rate and low detection efficiency, an improved YOLOV5 for smoke detection is proposed in this paper. To improve the effectiveness of smoke detection algorithm for smoke targets in complex scenes. First, a new lightweight convolution technique GSConv is introduced to replace the Conv layer in the neck layer for feature extraction, and the original C3 module is replaced by Cross Stage Partial Network (GSCSP) module VoVGSCSP. This improvement reduces the computation complexity of the algorithm while maintaining the detection accuracy. Second, CIoU is replaced by SIoU as the regression function of the prediction box to improve the prediction accuracy of the prediction box and reduce the rate of missed detection of the target. Finally, to improve the performance of the deep network, Dynamic ReLU is introduced as an activation function (dynamically adjusting the ReLU parameters depending on the input data). Experiments on the SM-dataset (smoke detection dataset) show that the improved model improves the accuracy and precision of target smoke detection compared to the YOLOV5 model. Its precision is increased by 1.8%, mAP@0.5 is increased by 1.0%, the complexity of the model is reduced by 23.8%. The improved algorithm proposed in this paper can effectively extract smoke features and more suitable for smoke detection tasks in complex scenes. © 2023 IEEE.

In a multi-camera system, based on Binocular vision, choosing the best camera combination is one of the effective ways to improve measurement accuracy. When multi-cameras layout and intrinsic parameters are fixed, the angle and the distance from cameras to object are two main factors influencing the pose measurement result. From the perspective of object’s observability and image resolution, the mathematic relation between measurement error and the angle, distance from cameras to object is derived which forms the weighting formula whose high value corresponds to the best camera combination. Comprehensive simulation is conducted, proving that the proposed method can decrease the measurement error by 55% compared with former methods, and even by 94% in some occasions. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
