This paper proposes a new reduced-order dynamic output-feedback protocol to solve the bipartite consensus problem of homogeneous linear multi-agent systems. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability of the bipartite consensus problem are derived and the consensus state trajectories are obtained in an explicit form. Compared with existing results, the novelties of the proposed protocol are two-fold: Firstly, the protocol relies on relative output information of agents within each group and secondly, the protocol state ultimately converges to zero if bipartite consensus is reached. Furthermore, a numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed protocol. © 2021 IEEE

In order to mitigate the adverse impact of denial of service (DoS) attacks, this work designs a parameter self-tuning controller based on fuzzy rules for vehicle platoons with vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications. Aiming at achieving the cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) of the vehicles with a required inter-vehicle distance and the same velocity, while considering the possible DoS attacks, we propose a parameter self-tuning longitudinal controller combining linear control and fuzzy control to enhance the stability and resilience of the platoon systems. Firstly, by analyzing the dynamic characteristics of vehicles and the mechanism of DoS attacks, we establish the dynamic model of vehicle platoons and model the impact of random DoS attacks as a constant data transmission delay, whose probability distribution can be defined using the Bernoulli random variable. Then, a linear controller based on fuzzy control is designed for longitudinal control to guarantee that the platoon keeps a reference velocity and the specified inter-vehicle distance under DoS attacks. Finally, thorough simulations are performed and the detailed results show the performance of the secure longitudinal control scheme for vehicle platoons in terms of stability and security.

Temporally-Adaptive Models for Efficient Video Understanding

Spatial convolutions are extensively used in numerous deep video models. It fundamentally assumes spatio-temporal invariance, i.e., using shared weights for every location in different frames. This work presents Temporally-Adaptive Convolutions (TAdaConv) for video understanding, which shows that adaptive weight calibration along the temporal dimension is an efficient way to facilitate modeling complex temporal dynamics in videos. Specifically, TAdaConv empowers spatial convolutions with temporal modeling abilities by calibrating the convolution weights for each frame according to its local and global temporal context. Compared to existing operations for temporal modeling, TAdaConv is more efficient as it operates over the convolution kernels instead of the features, whose dimension is an order of magnitude smaller than the spatial resolutions. Further, kernel calibration brings an increased model capacity. Based on this readily plug-in operation TAdaConv as well as its extension, i.e., TAdaConvV2, we construct TAdaBlocks to empower ConvNeXt and Vision Transformer to have strong temporal modeling capabilities. Empirical results show TAdaConvNeXtV2 and TAdaFormer perform competitively against state-of-the-art convolutional and Transformer-based models in various video understanding benchmarks. Change detection has always been a crucial task in remote sensing fields, and there have already been great efforts made on it for decades. However, as high resolution (HR) remote sensing images generally contain abundant ground details, it still faces a huge challenge for their change detection, especially from the aspects of change detection accuracy and speed. Concerning this issue, a novel lightweight Siamese deep network (LSDNet) is proposed, and it combines Convolution-Involution Module (CIM) and Ensemble Coordinate Attention Module (ECAM) for boosting the change detection of HR remote sensing images. CIM summarizes the context of ground objects and reweights the importance of different positions, while ECAM aggregates multiple levels of semantic features and pays different attention to different spatial information. The experiments on CNZ data set have shown that the proposed LSDNet performs better than state-of-the-art (SOTA) change detection methods, especially it improves the accuracy by 1.92% and reduces the amount of model parameters by 32.89% compared to SNUNet-CD which has the best performance currently. © 2021 11th International Workshop on Computer Science and Engineering, WCSE 2021. Aiming at the sudden change of load torque and uncertain external disturbance that multi-axis serial manipulators may face during operation, an improved Active Disturbance Rejection controller (ADRC) assisted by a Nonlinear Disturbance Observer (NLDOB) is designed and implemented in this paper. ADRC realizes the estimation and compensation of known model parameter perturbation, and NLDOB is introduced to estimate and compensate the load torque and other unmodeled dynamic factors of the manipulator. Meanwhile, the lumped control object model of three-bar mechanism and permanent magnet DC motor is established, and the control response curves of improved ADRC, traditional ADRC, and PID under the same conditions are compared and analyzed through simulation. The experimental results show that compared with the traditional ADRC and PID, the improved ADRC has faster response speed, smaller overshoot and stronger robustness.

This paper proposes a novel two-level electricity and hydrogen market framework for multi-microgrids (MMGs) coupled with offsite hydrogen refueling stations (HRSs), aiming to strengthen the synergy between electricity and hydrogen. The local hydrogen market among the MMG and HRSs is modeled by multi-leader multi-follower Stackelberg game theory, in which microgrids play the role of leaders to adjust hydrogen prices while HRSs participate as followers to determine their hydrogen purchase scheme. Moreover, to deal with economic and technical issues of the MMG in a holistic manner, Nash bargaining theory is used to model the electricity transaction among microgrids. A distributed algorithm is developed to solve such games, thus reducing the cost of information communication and the risk of privacy exposure. The case study demonstrates that this market mechanism guarantees benefits for all parties and boosts the independence of MMGs by reducing transactions with the main grid.

We study the problem of inference attack in distributed optimization, with adversarial agents aiming to obtain the sensitive information of some critical agent in a network. Different from existing privacy-preserving and resilient distributed optimization algorithms, we propose inference algorithms from the perspective of launching well-designed attacks to help infer sensitive local information. The key idea is that by utilizing the critical agent’s neighborhood information and the predefined update protocol, adversarial agents can not only interpolate the gradient of its local objective function, but also manipulate it to converge to its own local minimizer. The proposed algorithms can thus obtain approximations of the gradient or the minimizer of the local objective of this critical agent. We characterize the performance through interpolation errors, as well as distances to the optimal value and optimal point of the local objective. Numerical simulations are presented to verify the effectiveness of these algorithms.

Real-time eyeblink detection in the wild can widely serve for fatigue detection, face anti-spoofing, emotion analysis, etc. The existing research efforts generally focus on single-person cases towards trimmed video. However, multi-person scenario within untrimmed videos is also important for practical applications, which has not been well concerned yet. To address this, we shed light on this research field for the first time with essential contributions on dataset, theory, and practices. In particular, a large-scale dataset termed MPEblink that involves 686 untrimmed videos with 8748 eyeblink events is proposed under multi-person conditions. The samples are captured from unconstrained films to reveal "in the wild" characteristics. Meanwhile, a real-time multi-person eyeblink detection method is also proposed. Being different from the existing counterparts, our proposition runs in a one-stage spatio-temporal way with end-to-end learning capacity. Specifically, it simultaneously addresses the sub-tasks of face detection, face tracking, and human instance-level eyeblink detection. This paradigm holds 2 main advantages: (1) eyeblink features can be facilitated via the face's global context (e.g., head pose and illumination condition) with joint optimization and interaction, and (2) addressing these sub-tasks in parallel instead of sequential manner can save time remarkably to meet the real-time running requirement. Experiments on MPEblink verify the essential challenges of real-time multi-person eyeblink detection in the wild for untrimmed video. Generic object detection has made great progress in recent years, yet small object detection is still facing a serious problem of missed detection. The problem is caused by two reasons: low resolution in small targets and feature loss during deep convolution downsampling. Some previous studies used feature pyramid structures and multi-scale training predictions to alleviate this problem, but still cannot efficiently utilise the feature information of small targets. In this paper, firstly we propose a novel and effective feature enhancement module to extract more features; secondly, a filter size design method is presented to extract features of matching objects and incorporate context information; finally, an adaptive fusion method is used to process outputs of our module and improve model robustness. We select YOLOv3 as base model and carry out several experiments on a special Small Object Dataset and the results show that our work can achieve an increase of about seven percentage points (35.73%) compared to 28.78% on baseline.

3D interacting hand pose estimation from a single RGB image is a challenging task, due to serious self-occlusion and inter-occlusion towards hands, confusing similar appearance patterns between 2 hands, ill-posed joint position mapping from 2D to 3D, etc.. To address these, we propose to extend A2J-the state-of-the-art depth-based 3D single hand pose estimation method-to RGB domain under interacting hand condition. Our key idea is to equip A2J with strong local-global aware ability to well capture interacting hands' local fine details and global articulated clues among joints jointly. To this end, A2J is evolved under Transformer's non-local encoding-decoding framework to build A2J- Transformer. It holds 3 main advantages over A2J. First, self-attention across local anchor points is built to make them global spatial context aware to better capture joints' articulation clues for resisting occlusion. Secondly, each anchor point is regarded as learnable query with adaptive feature learning for facilitating pattern fitting capacity, instead of having the same local representation with the others. Last but not least, anchor point locates in 3D space instead of 2D as in A2J, to leverage 3D pose prediction. Experiments on challenging InterHand 2.6M demonstrate that, A2J-Transformer can achieve state-of-the-art model-free performance (3.38mm MPJPE advancement in 2-hand case) and can also be applied to depth domain with strong generalization.
