Simulation of open quantum systems is undoubtedly critical to design of quantum devices and applications of quantum technologies since dynamics of open quantum systems cannot be solved analytically in general. However, the dimension of open quantum systems grows exponentially as the number of their subsystems increases or as involving complicated environments, which reduces the computational efficiency of the simulation. In this paper, we boost numerical simulation of master equations of open quantum systems from several aspects with which the total time and the occupied memory in the simulation are significantly reduced without losing precision. Our method can be applied to the simulation of non-Markovian quantum systems described by an augmented system model as well. We conduct numerical experiments on simulation of a non-Markovian spin chain. Compared with the algorithm in a well-known toolbox, QuTiP, our method can take 26.3% time and less memory under fair conditions.

Accurate prediction and effective control are the key to reducing the impact of landslide disasters. In practice, most of recent studies focus on landslide displacement prediction and control. In this paper, we propose a new control method based on the level prediction of landslide evolution state, namely down-level control. The core components are level predictor and interval predictor in this method. Specially, we first transform the traditional displacement regression prediction problem into a level classification prediction problem by labeling discrete category information for landslide sample points. Then the level predictor based on Multi-task learning-Stacked long-short time memory network (MTL-SLSTM) is established to predict the state of the landslide and judge whether the system needs to be controlled. Finally, we design a safe rainfall interval predictor based on bootstrap method to obtain the safe value of control variation. The effectiveness of the proposed control method is verified on Baishuihe and Shiliushubao landslides. The results show the proposed down-level control method is valid and more intuitive. © 2021 IEEE.

DNA-based data storage has been attracting significant attention due to its extremely high data storage density, low power consumption, and long duration compared to conventional data storage media. Despite the recent advancements in DNA data storage technology, significant challenges remain. In particular, various types of errors can occur during the processes of DNA synthesis, storage, and sequencing, including substitution errors, insertion errors, and deletion errors. Furthermore, the entire oligo may be lost. In this work, we report a DNA-based data storage architecture that incorporates efficient channel coding schemes, including different types of error-correcting codes (ECCs) and constrained codes, for both the inner coding and outer coding for the DNA data storage channel. We also carried out large scale experiments to validate our proposed DNA-based data storage architecture. Specifically, 1.61 and 1.69 MB data were encoded into 30,000 oligos each, with information densities of 1.731 and 1.815, respectively. It has been found that the stored information can be fully recovered without any error at average coverages of 4.5 and 6.0, respectively. This experiment achieved the highest net information density and lowest coverage among existing DNA-based data storage experiments (with standard DNA), with data recovery rates and coverage approaching theoretical optima. This paper presents a distributed shadow dynamic consensus (DSDC) framework to address the generation company (GENCO) strategic bidding problem in the independent system operator (ISO) operation. First, each sub-group is defined according to the communication principle. The global resource allocation can be solved by introducing the local shadow power demand. Then, for the general market clearing optimization problem, a distributed dynamic consensus algorithm is presented to estimate the general equality constraint. The optimal locational marginal price (LMP) and power allocation in each sub-group are obtained in this step. Finally, the optimal solution is corrected when considering the transmission constraint. A theoretical analysis of the DSDC framework is provided. The algorithm and model are tested by the IEEE 30-bus test system to support the proposed DSDC framework.

SCSQ-MDD: A Detection Approach for Multi-Style Strokes of Chinese Characters

In the Chinese character writing task of the robotic arms, the stroke category and position information should be extracted by object detection. The detection algorithms based on predefined anchor frames have difficulty in resolving the differences among many different styles of Chinese character strokes. While the deformable detection transformer (deformable DETR) algorithms without predefined anchor frames result in some invalid sampling points having no contribution to the feature update of the current reference point due to the random sampling of sampling points in the deformable attention module. These processes cause the effectiveness of correlation calculations between reference points in Chinese strokes and their surrounding sampled points is limited. So that the speed of vector learning stroke features in the detection head is reduced. In view of this problem, a new detection method of multi-style strokes of Chinese characters via SCSQ-MDD (Simple Conditional Spatial Query Mask Deformable DETR) is proposed in this paper. Firstly, a mask prediction layer is jointly determined using the shallow feature map of the Chinese character image and the query vector of the transformer encoder, which is used to filter the points with actual contribution and resample the points without contribution, so that the randomness of correlation calculation among reference points is solved. Secondly, by separating the content query and spatial query of the transformer deocder, the content embedding and spatial embedding can be separately focused on when cross-attention computations are performed. Thus the dependence of the prediction task on the content embedding is relaxed and the training process is simplified. Finally, the detection model without predefined anchor frames based on deformable DETR called SCSQ-MDD is constructed using the mask mechanism and the simple conditional spatial query mechanism, and trained and validated on a multi-style Chinese character stroke dataset

This paper considers the problem of monitoring and adaptively estimating an environmental field, such as temperature or salinity, using an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). The AUV moves in the field and persistently measures environmental scalars and its position in its local coordinate frame. The environmental scalars are approximately linearly distributed over the region of interest, and an adaptive estimator is designed to estimate the gradient. By orthogonal decomposition of the velocity of the AUV, a linear time-varying system is equivalently constructed, and the sufficient conditions on the motion of the AUV are established, under which the global exponential stability of the estimation error system is rigorously proved. Furthermore, an estimate of the exponential convergence rate is given, and a reference trajectory that maximizes the estimate of the convergence rate is obtained for the AUV to track. Numerical examples verify the stability and efficiency of the system.

Quantum trajectory can be viewed as a numerical simulation method for wavefunctions which consume smaller memories compared to density matrices in master equations. In this paper, we adopt quantum trajectory to simulate the evolution of a non-Markovian quantum system modeled by an augmented system and further use parallel computing to improve efficiency. Compared to the Lindblad master equation solver in QuTiP, it can run more efficiently using less memory. In the example of a 8-spin-chain non-Markovian system, it only takes about 0.57% of the memory footprint and 4.12% of the runtime of the solver for the Lindblad master equation.

We describe NLSExplorer, an interpretable approach for nuclear localization signal (NLS) prediction. By utilizing the extracted information on nuclear-specific sites from the protein language model to assist in NLS detection, NLSExplorer achieves superior performance with greater than 10% improvement in the F1 score compared with existing methods on benchmark datasets and highlights other nuclear transport segments. We applied NLSExplorer to the nucleus-localized proteins in the Swiss-Prot database to extract valuable segments. A comprehensive analysis of these segments revealed a potential NLS landscape and uncovered features of nuclear transport segments across 416 species. This study introduces a powerful tool for exploring the NLS universe and provides a versatile network that can efficiently detect characteristic domains and motifs. © 2025 The Author(s)
