AES-AUDIO: An Encryption Scheme for Audio Supporting Differentiated Decryption

In this paper, we propose an audio encryption scheme that supports differentiated decryption, called AES-AUDIO, in which an audio only needs to be encrypted once and can be decrypted into different resolutions as needed. First, we design four security levels, confidential, harsh, noisy, and clear, based on the audio resolution perceived by human auditory perception. Second, the audio data in decimal floating-point numbers (D-FPNs) are unfolded to 32 bits (B-FPNs). Third, we design a region of interest (RoI) encryption algorithm for the audio with the B-FPN format, where the result preserves some perceptual information as needed. Fourth, we construct the AES-AUDIO scheme based on the RoI encryption algorithm, which allows the audio to be encrypted once and then decrypted into different security levels. It supports changing parameters to alter the perception effect corresponding to the security level. Overall, it achieves a balance between the security and usability of the protected audio. User experiments verify that the audios produced by differential decryption can achieve the expected security levels. Some security tests also yielded excellent results, such as an NSCR value of 1. © 1999-2012 IEEE.

We propose a novel application aimed at protecting personal privacy. With the proliferation of various media platforms, issues related to personal portraits have emerged. To address these problems, previous applications propose methods for either Mosaic or replace it with another object. However, existing methods suffer from issues such as high time costs and unnatural rendering. To address these problems, we propose designing an automatic face identification and replacement system by combining face detection, super-resolution, and face replacement models. This approach aims to reduce processing time and enhance natural rendering. In addition to the technological advancements, we suggest expanding this system into a mobile service, allowing users to easily protect their privacy on the go. This mobile platform would provide a user-friendly interface and seamless integration with various social media and communication apps, making it accessible to a broader audience. Furthermore, we explore potential expansion opportunities, such as cloud-based processing for scalability and the development of APIs that other developers can integrate into their own applications, thereby broadening the service's reach and impact. We demonstrate that our approach is simpler and more natural compared to traditional handcrafted tasks by applying it to diverse scenarios.

Object detection with thermal infrared images is vital for applications like autonomous driving in low-light and adverse environmental conditions. While TIRDet has improved thermal-only object detection through a Thermal-To-Visible (T2V) translation model, this module can suffer from information loss in certain scenarios. To address this, we propose enhancing the CSPDarknet53 backbone of YOLOX within TIRDet by incorporating SimAM, a parameter-free attention mechanism. SimAM enhances feature representation by inferring 3D attention weights based on an energy function inspired by neuroscience theories, without increasing model parameters. By strengthening feature extraction within the backbone, our approach compensates for the T2V module's information loss, thereby improving detection performance under challenging conditions. Experiments on the LLVIP and FLIR datasets demonstrate superior performance, underscoring the effectiveness of parameter-free attention mechanisms for advancing thermal object detection.

Few-shot learning addresses the challenge of recognizing novel classes with only a few labeled examples, a critical issue in limited data scenarios. This paper proposes a multi-modal Visual and Semantic Network (ViSeNet), which enhances few-shot classification by mining linguistic features and fusing weighted vectors. ViSeNet generates enriched class prototypes by leveraging both visual and semantic information. The linguistic feature mining process utilizes image-to-text models to produce class-specific textual descriptions, which are then transformed into representative semantic embeddings. For visual feature extraction, we employ a pretrained Swin Transformer, while text embeddings are integrated for each class using weighted factors. By combining these modalities, ViSeNet constructs class prototypes that capture both visual and semantic characteristics. Experimental results on benchmark datasets, particularly CIFAR-FS, demonstrate that ViSeNet achieves performance comparable to state-of-the-art approaches.

Directional or Circular statistics are pertaining to the analysis and interpretation of directions or rotations. In this work, a novel probability distribution is proposed to model multidimensional sparse directional data. The Generalized Directional Laplacian Distribution (DLD) is a hybrid between the Laplacian distribution and the von Mises-Fisher distribution. The distribution's parameters are estimated using Maximum-Likelihood Estimation over a set of training data points. Mixtures of Directional Laplacian Distributions (MDLD) are also introduced in order to model multiple concentrations of sparse directional data. Smoke detection is very important for fire detection, because smoke usually occurs before a fire breaks out. Smoke has a variety of characteristics, such as color, shape, texture, and so on. Using these characteristics, there has been a lot of research on smoke detection based on image processing. However, smoke detection is still difficult, because these characteristics can change due to environmental factors, such as wind and lighting changes. So, in this paper, a new smoke detection method based on fire-starting regions is presented to reduce sensitivity to environmental factors. The proposed method consists of three main parts: i) generating a candidate smoke region, ii) fire starting-region detection, and iii) detecting smoke based on fire-starting regions and predicting the direction of smoke movement. As a result, the proposed smoke detection method is less sensitive to the motion of non-smoke objects (humans, shadows, vehicles, etc.) and can detect smoke quickly by determining the fire-starting region where the smoke is generated. A surveillance system deploys multiple cameras to monitor a wide area in real time to detect abnormal situations such as a crime scene, traffic accident, and natural disaster. An Increased number of cameras results in the same number of monitors, which makes human decisions or automatic decisions difficult. To solve the problem, a smart surveillance scheme has recently been proposed. The smart surveillance system automatically detects an object and provides an alarm to a surveillant. In this paper, we present a metadata extraction method for object-based video summary. The proposed method adopts deep learning-based object detection and background elimination to correctly estimate an object region. Finally, metadata extraction is performed on the estimated object information. The proposed metadata consists of the representative color, size, aspect ratio, and patch of an object. The proposed method can extract reliable metadata without motion features in both static and dynamic cameras. A new method for the reduction of the number of colors in a digital image is proposed. The new method is based on the developed of a new neural network classifier that combines the advantages of the Growing Neural Gas (GNG) and the Kohonen Self-Organized Feature Map (SOFM) neural networks. We call the new neural network: Self-Growing and Self-Organized Neural Gas (SGONG). Its main advantage is that it defines the number of the created neurons and their topology in an automatic way. As a consecutive, isolated color classes, which may correspond to significant image details, can be obtained. The SGONG is fed by the color components and additional spatial features. To speed up the entire algorithm and to reduce memory requirements, a fractal scanning sub-sampling technique is used. The method is applicable to any type of color images and it can accommodate any type of color space. © The Eurographics Association 2005.

In this paper, the authors exploit a multispectral image representation to perform more accurate document image binarisation compared to previous color representations. In the first stage, image fusion is employed to create a 'document' and a 'background' image. In the second stage, the FastICA algorithm is used to perform background subtraction. In the third stage, a spatial kernel K-harmonic means classifier binarizes the FastICA output. The proposed system outperforms previous efforts on document image binarization. © 2014 IEEE.

Most of the existing document-binarization techniques deal with many parameters that require a priori setting of their values. Due to the unknown of the ground-truth images, the evaluation of document binarization techniques is subjective and employs human observers for the estimation of the appropriate parameter values. The selection of the appropriate values for these parameters is crucial and influences to the final binarization. However, there is no predetermined set of parameters that guarantees optimal binarization for all document images. This paper proposes a new technique that allows the estimation of proper parameters values for each one of the document binarization techniques. The proposed approach is based on a statistical performance analysis of a set of binarization results, which are obtained by applying various binarization techniques with different parameter values. The proposed statistical performance analysis can also depicts the best document binarization result obtained by a set of document binarization techniques.
