This paper presents a novel approach for finding more accurate feature pairs which is not only invariant to affine transformation, but also deals with images with repetitive shapes. First, the more accurate and robust homographic transformation between different views could be calculated through bi-directional matching and appropriate selection of threshold. Second, an affine geometric property, ratios of areas of corresponding triangles are affine invariant, is used to obtain more feature pairs based on the first step. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the state-of-art ASIFT in the number of correct feature pairs and matching accuracy among images with repetitive patterns. © 2014 WIT Press.

Variational bayesian method for temporally correlated source separation

We propose to use a low order autoregressive (AR) model to describe the temporal structure of source. Then we adopt Variational Bayesian (VB) method for source separation which models additive noise into the mixing system. The approach integrates the source probabilistic model and noise probabilistic model. Its goal is to approximate the actual probability density function of hidden variables and parameters using its approximating posterior distribution by minimizing the misfit between them. The advantage of our VB-AR algorithm is that it can exploit the temporal nature of source signals and avoid over-fitting in the separating process. This algorithm can also identify the AR order. Experiments on artifact and real-world speech signals are used to verify our proposed algorithms. As a result, the lower AR source model improves the separation. The performance of the algorithm is compared with that of i.i.d. separation algorithm and the second-order separation algorithm. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2006.

A universal method for camera calibration in UITS scenes

A universal approach to camera calibration based on features of some representative lines on traffic ground is presented. It uses only a set of three parallel edges with known intervals and one of their intersected lines with known slope to gain the focal length and orientation parameters of a camera. A set of equations that computes related camera parameters has been derived from geometric properties of the calibration pattern. With accurate analytical implementation, precision of the approach is only decided by accuracy of the calibration target selecting. Final experimental results have showed its validity by a snapshot from real automatic visual traffic surveillance （AVTS） scencs.

image registration is a challenging task when illumination changes drastically. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm, APCurve, to address this problem. APCurve matches all principle curves extracted from the sensed image and reference image based on voting matrix. All principal curves are extracted because they are robust against illumination change. Voting matrix is a simple method to match all principal curves. We test APCurve on a set of images taken under drastically changed illumination condition, and experimental results show it is effective and fast. An experimental comparison between APCurve and SURF[8] is presented, which shows APCurve outperforms SURF when the object is textureless. Finally, the successful application of APCurve in highlight removal task proves that our approach is useful in real practice. ©2010 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel method for image segmentation. We improved the effect of saliency detection for the purpose of image segmentation. Graph cuts are used to find global optimal segmentation of N-dimensional image. With the guidance of saliency, users do not have to select foreground object and background seeds. The main advantages of our method are that: Firstly we revised the existed sparse saliency model to better suit for image segmentation, Secondly we propose a new color modeling method during the process of GrabCut segmentation. Finally we combine these two processes together to segment images without interference. We demonstrate our proposed scheme for image segmentation on several databases and get satisfactory results. © 2011 IEEE.

Iris-based biometric recognition outperforms other biometric methods in terms of accuracy. In this paper an iris normalization model for iris recognition is proposed, which combines linear and non-linear methods to unwrap the iris region. First, non-linearly transform all iris patterns to a reference annular zone with a predefined λ, which is the ratio of the radii of inner and outer boundaries of the iris. Then linearly unwrap this reference annular zone to a fix-sized rectangle block for subsequence processing. Our iris normalization model is illuminated by the 'minimum-wear-and-tear' meshwork of the iris and it is simplified for iris recognition. This model explicitly shows the non-linear property of iris deformation when pupil size changes. And experiments show that it does better than the over-simplified linear normalization model and will improve the iris recognition performance. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

Locality Preserving Projections (LPP) is a linear projective map that arises by solving a variational problem that optimally preserves the neighborhood structure of the data set. Though LPP has been applied in many domains, it has limits to solve recognition ***, Discriminant Locality Preserving Projections (DLPP) is presented in this paper. The improvement of DLPP algorithm over LPP method benefits mostly from two aspects. ne aspect is that DLPP tries to find the subspace that best discriminates different face classes by maximizing the between-class distance, while minimizing the within-class *** other aspect is that DLPP reduces the energy of noise and transformation difference as much as possible without sacrificing much of intrinsic difference. In the experiments, DLPP achieves the better face recognition performance than LPP. © 2005 IEEE.

This paper presents a high-speed video transfer scheme and a real-time infrared spots detection algorithm designed for Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) implementation. Rather than IEEE 1394a, two IEEE 1394b interfaces are alternatively used to ensure high-resolution image transfer in real time. In order to execute fast infrared spots detection, a parallel algorithm that processes four pixels per clock cycle is proposed. It detects infrared spots in a single pass over a frame and its implementation is only composed of combinatorial logic and registers. Furthermore, the execution time of the algorithm is independent of image content. A prototype system is implemented in an FPGA device. It is capable of transferring 1024 x 768 images smoothly at 60 fps and detecting infrared sports in a 1024 x 768 image within 1.966ms, demonstrating its superiority over the existing multi-pass algorithms and some other one-pass algorithms. Details of software and hardware architecture are discussed in this paper. © 2009 IEEE.

A method for 3D shape reconstruction of deformable surfaces from consecutive frames was presented. In our method, the model of the surface is represented by a triangulated mesh. The constraints for the model, including keypoint correspondences and disallowing large changes of edge orientation between consecutive frames, are formulated as Linear Programming (LP) constraints. Therefore the deformable surface 3D tracking method turns into an LP problem that can be effectively solved. The robustness and efficiency of our approach are validated on synthetic and real data. © 2009 IEEE.

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, more and more intelligent devices are beginning to be manufactured. At the same time, the demand of the image resolution is getting higher. Super-resolution of the image has become a research hotspot in the field of artificial intelligence. The same time, convolution neural networks have been successful in many fields of computer vision, including image super-resolution. Single image super-resolution has received a lot of attention and made good progress recently. However, there are few neural network models for multi-image super-resolution. Array images are a completely new experience and application for super-resolution. In this paper, we use the microarray camera (3∗3) to get nine pictures in the same scene and use nine images to realize multiple images super-resolution. A super-resolution model combining software with hardware is proposed. The structure of image registration, V- system image fusion and convolution operation are constructed. The super-resolution model can extract the feature of the target image more efficiently, and the array camera has the characteristic of trading space for the time change. The model can be more accurate and efficient than single image super-resolution. In the PSNR and SSIM indexes, 1.01dB and 0.03 are increased respectively. We use ISO12233 camera resolution chart to detect the experimental pictures. In the experimental results, the resolution of the algorithm is the best. © 2018 IEEE.
