This paper proposes a fast and robust algorithm for classification and recognition of ships based on the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) method. The three-dimensional ship models are achieved by modeling software of MultiGen, and then they are projected by Vega simulating software for two-dimensional ship silhouettes. The PCA method as against the Back-Propagation (BP) neural network method for simulated ship recognition using training and testing experiments, we can see that there is a sharp contrast between them. Some recognition results from simulated data are presented, the correct recognition rate of PCA method improved rapidly for each of the five ship types than that of neural network method, the number of times a ship type is recognized as one of the other ships is reduced greatly.

Automatically assessment of photo quality in different categories is of great interest in the recent years. And there are many researches work on it. In this paper, we use several new global and regional features to describe the photo quality. In one image, there is an area where attract the most attention of humans eyes. We call this area subject area. We use two different methods to extract the subject area while dealing with different kinds of images. Then we extract the regional feature from the subject area and background separately. Photos taken by professional photographer have obvious difference between subject area and background. We combine global features and regional features, and our method performs quite well in the database.

A statistical algorithm for the reconstruction from time sequence echocardiographic images is proposed in this paper. The ability to jointly restore the images and reconstruct the 3D images without blurring the boundary is the main innovation of this algorithm. First, a Bayesian model based on MAP-MRF is used to reconstruct 3D volume, and extended to deal with the images acquired by rotation scanning method. Then, the spatiotemporal nature of ultrasound images is taken into account for the parameter of energy function, which makes this statistical model anisotropic. Hence not only can this method reconstruct 3D ultrasound images, but also remove the speckle noise anisotropically. Finally, we illustrate the experiments of our method on the synthetic and medical images and compare it with the isotropic reconstruction method.

Automatic unloading of piled box-like objects is undoubtedly of great importance to the industry. In this contribution a system addressing this problem is described: we employ a laser range finder for data acquisition, and globally deformable superquadrics for object modeling. Our technique is based on a hypothesis generation and refinement scheme. The vertices of the piled objects are extracted and superquadric seeds are aligned at these vertices. The model parameter recovery task is decomposed into two subproblems, each dealing with a subset of the model's parameter set. Both region and boundary based information sources are used for parameter estimation. Compared to a widespread strategy for superquadric recovery, our method shows advantages in terms of robustness and computational efficiency. In addition, our system exhibits versatility with regard to existing industrial systems, since it can effectively deal with both neatly placed and jumbled configurations of objects.

Rectification for airborne linear images is an indispensable preprocessing step. This paper presents in detail a two-step rectification algorithm. The first step is to establish the model of direct georeference position using the data provided by the Positioning and Orientation System (POS) and obtain the mathematical relationships between the image points and ground reference points. The second step is to apply polynomial distortion model and Bilinear Interpolation to get the final precise rectified images. In this step, a reference image is required and some ground control points (GCPs) are selected. Experiments showed that the final rectified images are satisfactory, and that our two-step rectification algorithm is very effective.
