In this paper, a line-based scan image compression algorithm with low complexity was presented. The algorithm was based on Christos Chrysalis's line-based wavelet transformation coding. There was not image tiling in the algorithm. The supposed algorithm modeled with contexts for different subband after quantifying wavelet coefficients uniformly. A modified Golomb-Rice algorithm with low complexity was adopted as entropy coder. The experiment shows that the memory requirement of the algorithm is far less than that of the SPIHT in compressing images with huge size. The complexity of the entropy coding of the algorithm is reduced largely. The algorithm is especially appropriate for remote sensing image compression system with power and space limited.

Aiming at the characters of weak and small targets in infrared images, an algorithm based on Least Squares Support Vector Machines (LS-SVM) is presented to fuse long-wave and mid-wave infrared images and detect targets. image intensity surfaces for the neighborhood of every pixel of the original long-wave infrared image and mid-wave infrared are well-fitted by mapped LS-SVM respectively. And long-wave and mid-wave infrared image gradient images are obtained by LS-SVM based on radial basis kernels function. Fusion rule is set up according to the features of gradient images. At last, segment fused image and targets can be detected with contrast threshold. Compared with wavelet fusion detection algorithm and morphological fusion detection algorithm, when a target is affected by baits, the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach in the paper based on LS-SVM to fuse and detect weak and small target is reliable and efficient.

Distributed Video Coding (DVC) is a new class of video coding techniques with the aim of coding the decentralized video sources. While the Stanford Wyner-Ziv codec is a well-known architecture in DVC literature, one of its main drawbacks is the presence of a feedback channel from the decoder to the encoder. This feedback channel makes the use of the codec impractical in some applications. Since the only application of the feedback channel is in requesting more parity bits from the encoder, it could be omitted if the encoder estimates the required parity bits and sends them at once. In this paper, a new method of bitrate estimation using a neural network trained by a new set of features is proposed. In addition, a Hybrid mode is proposed that reduces computational complexity at the decoder in a conventional Wyner-Ziv codec.
