The efficacy of photovoltaic systems is significantly impacted by electrical production losses attributed to faults. Ensuring the rapid and cost-effective restoration of system efficiency necessitates robust fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) procedures. This study introduces a novel interval-gated recurrent unit (I-GRU) based Bayesian optimization framework for FDD in grid-connected photovoltaic (GCPV) systems. The utilization of an interval-valued representation is proposed to address uncertainties inherent in the systems, the GRU is employed for fault classification, while the Bayesian algorithm optimizes its hyperparameters. Addressing uncertainties through the proposed approach enhances monitoring capabilities, mitigating computational and storage costs associated with sensor uncertainties. The effectiveness of the proposed approach for FDD in GCPV systems is demonstrated using experimental application.

Semantic change detection is an important task in geoscience and earth observation. By producing a semantic change map for each temporal phase, both the land use land cover categories and change information can be interpreted. Recently some multi-task learning based semantic change detection methods have been proposed to decompose the task into semantic segmentation and binary change detection subtasks. However, previous works comprise triple branches in an entangled manner, which may not be optimal and hard to adopt foundation models. Besides, lacking explicit refinement of bitemporal features during fusion may cause low accuracy. In this letter, we propose a novel late-stage bitemporal feature fusion network to address the issue. Specifically, we propose local global attentional aggregation module to strengthen feature fusion, and propose local global context enhancement module to highlight pivotal semantics. Comprehensive experiments are conducted on two public datasets, including SECOND and Landsat-SCD. Quantitative and qualitative results show that our proposed model achieves new state-of-the-art performance on both datasets. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Gait planning of quadruped robots plays an important role in achieving less walking, including dynamic and static gait. In this article, a static and dynamic gait control method based on center of gravity stability margin is proposed. Firstly, the robot model and kinematics modeling are introduced. Secondly, the robot’s foot static and dynamic gait were planned and the foot trajectory was designed. Finally, two types of gait of the robot were simulated using Vrep simulation software, and the differences in stability and speed between the coordinated gait with speed and stability in the static and dynamic gait of a 12 degree of freedom robot were analyzed, verifying the effectiveness of the gait control method proposed in this paper.

Optical sorting is a key technology for the circular economy and is widely applied in the food, mineral, and recycling industries. Despite its widespread use, one typically resorts to expensive means of adjusting the accuracy, e.g., by reducing the mass flow or changing mechanical or software parameters, which typically requires manual tuning in a lengthy, iterative process. To circumvent these drawbacks, we propose a new layout for optical sorters along with a controller that allows re-feeding of controlled fractions of the sorted mass flows. To this end, we build a dynamic model of the sorter, analyze its static behavior, and show how material recirculation affects the sorting accuracy. Furthermore, we build a model predictive controller (MPC) employing the model and evaluate the closed-loop sorting system using a coupled discrete element–computational fluid dynamics (DEM–CFD) simulation, demonstrating improved accuracy.

The mainstream CNN-based remote sensing (RS) image semantic segmentation approaches typically rely on massive labeled training data. Such a paradigm struggles with the problem of RS multi-view scene segmentation with limited labeled views due to the lack of considering 3D information within the scene. In this paper, we propose "Implicit Ray-Transformer (IRT)" based on Implicit Neural Representation (INR), for RS scene semantic segmentation with sparse labels (such as 4-6 labels per 100 images). We explore a new way of introducing multi-view 3D structure priors to the task for accurate and view-consistent semantic segmentation. The proposed method includes a two-stage learning process. In the first stage, we optimize a neural field to encode the color and 3D structure of the remote sensing scene based on multi-view images. In the second stage, we design a Ray Transformer to leverage the relations between the neural field 3D features and 2D texture features for learning better semantic representations. Different from previous methods that only consider 3D prior or 2D features, we incorporate additional 2D texture information and 3D prior by broadcasting CNN features to different point features along the sampled ray. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we construct a challenging dataset containing six synthetic sub-datasets collected from the Carla platform and three real sub-datasets from Google Maps. Experiments show that the proposed method outperforms the CNN-based methods and the state-of-the-art INR-based segmentation methods in quantitative and qualitative metrics. Ablation study shows that under limited label conditions, the combination of the 3D structure prior and 2D texture can significantly improve the performance and effectively complete missing semantic information in novel views. Current approaches to empathetic response generation typically encode the entire dialogue history directly and put the output into a decoder to generate friendly feedback. These methods focus on modelling contextual information but neglect capturing the direct intention of the speaker. We argue that the last utterance in the dialogue empirically conveys the intention of the speaker. Consequently, we propose a novel model named InferEM for empathetic response generation. We separately encode the last utterance and fuse it with the entire dialogue through the multi-head attention based intention fusion module to capture the speaker’s intention. Besides, we utilize previous utterances to predict the last utterance, which simulates human’s psychology to guess what the interlocutor may speak in advance. To balance the optimizing rates of the utterance prediction and response generation, a multitask learning strategy is designed for InferEM. To address the difficulty in calculating the nonlinear equation of time difference of arrival (TDOA) positioning, as well as the problem of measurement error in the hybrid time difference of arrival/angle of arrival (TDOA/AOA) positioning algorithm, an improved sparrow search algorithm is proposed to optimize positioning, and the optimization mechanism is retained on the basis of improving the performance of the original algorithm. The maximum likelihood estimation method is used to calculate the objective function, and then, the estimated function of the mobile station is used as the fitness function to generate the initial population of sparrows. Then, using particle swarm optimization, optimize the sparrow search algorithm and obtain the population's optimal solution in order to obtain the optimal position. The simulation results show that, when compared to the existing algorithm, increasing the number of base stations increases the average accuracy of the sparrow search algorithm (SSA) positioning method by 18.54% and 4.5%, respectively, and, when compared to the proposed particle swarm optimization (PSO) positioning method, by 13.79% and 11.6% as the radius increases. The SSA hybrid positioning algorithm performs better in terms of positioning accuracy, convergence speed, and robustness. © 2023 Zhongyi Hu et al.

This article describes the solution of the problem of meningioma segmentation in MRI of the brain in various scanning modes. We consider five different MRI sequences. To solve the segmentation problem, a convolutional neural network was used. MRIs of the human brain were provided by Samara State Medical University. MRI sequence T2 was the most efficient one for solving the problem of MRI segmentation using a convolutional neural network. F-score for this MRI sequence was 61.3%. © 2021 IEEE.

Temporal image analysis in remote sensing has traditionally centered on change detection, which identifies regions of change between images captured at different times. However, change detection remains limited by its focus on visual-level interpretation, often lacking contextual or descriptive information. The rise of Vision-Language Models (VLMs) has introduced a new dimension to remote sensing temporal image analysis by integrating visual information with natural language, creating an avenue for advanced interpretation of temporal image changes. Remote Sensing Temporal VLMs (RSTVLMs) allow for dynamic interactions, generating descriptive captions, answering questions, and providing a richer semantic understanding of temporal images. This temporal vision-language capability is particularly valuable for complex remote sensing applications, where higher-level insights are crucial. This paper comprehensively reviews the progress of RSTVLM research, with a focus on the latest VLM applications for temporal image analysis. We categorize and discuss core methodologies, datasets, and metrics, highlight recent advances in temporal vision-language tasks, and outline key challenges and future directions for research in this emerging field. This survey fills a critical gap in the literature by providing an integrated overview of RSTVLM, offering a foundation for further advancements in remote sensing temporal image understanding. Emotion Detection in Conversation (EDC) has been implemented in numerous domains and is under increasing attention. The EDC task is highly challenging due to the need to incorporate both the context of the utterance and the identity of the participant. Some existing EDC approaches employ redundant network structures and inadequately model contextual utterances, resulting in limited performance gains. In this work, we devise a Spatio-Temporal scale based Affective neural Network (STANet) in a simplistic and efficacious manner. STANet consists of two main components, i.e., spatial scale network and temporal scale network, which are applied to extract spatial scale and temporal scale information in the conversation, respectively. Prior to spatio-temporal scale modeling, we encode the identity information of participants to examine its impact on the performance of emotion detection. We conduct substantial comparative experiments and ablation studies on three conversational emotion datasets, and the results demonstrate that our STANet realizes superior performance without taking advantage of external knowledge.
