Detection of elliptical features is a challenging and important task in computer vision. In fact, ellipses can describe many objects in real images like manufactured objects, cells, ball, or traffic signs. Furthermore, an ellipse is defined by five parameters: the center coordinates, the semi major axe, the semi minor axe and the orientation, which require more computational power to estimate them. Some non-ideal ellipses cause also difficulties for detection such as occlusion, appearance of multiple ellipses at same time and non-parallel ellipse. In this paper, we are interested in detecting elliptical traffic signs. We present a method for detecting different cases of ellipses: simple, partially occluded, non-parallel, multiple ellipses in images. The method selects three lines to find the ellipse center, and then it calculates the value of the semi minor and major axes of the ellipse. Experiments show that the proposed method performs well on real images in the presence or not of noises. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

Stain-Adaptive Self-Supervised Learning for Histopathology image Analysis

It is commonly recognized that color variations caused by differences in stains is a critical issue for histopathology image analysis. Existing methods adopt color matching, stain separation, stain transfer or the combination of them to alleviate the stain variation problem. In this paper, we propose a novel Stain-Adaptive Self-Supervised Learning(SASSL) method for histopathology image analysis. Our SASSL integrates a domain-adversarial training module into the SSL framework to learn distinctive features that are robust to both various transformations and stain variations. The proposed SASSL is regarded as a general method for domain-invariant feature extraction which can be flexibly combined with arbitrary downstream histopathology image analysis modules (e.g. nuclei/tissue segmentation) by fine-tuning the features for specific downstream tasks. We conducted experiments on publicly available pathological image analysis datasets including the PANDA, BreastPathQ, and CAMELYON16 datasets, achieving the state-of-the-art performance. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can robustly improve the feature extraction ability of the model, and achieve stable performance improvement in downstream tasks. Out-of-distribution (OOD) detection aims to identify the test examples that do not belong to the distribution of training data. The distance-based methods, which identify OOD examples based on their distances from the centroids of in-distribution (ID) examples, have demonstrated promising OOD detection performance. However, the objectives utilized in prior approaches are typically designed for classification and thus might not yield sufficient discriminative power to distinguish between ID and OOD examples. Therefore, this paper proposes a prototype-based contrastive learning framework for OOD detection, which is termed provable Discriminative Hyperspherical Embedding (DHE). The proposed framework provides a theoretical analysis of inter-class dispersion, which is proved to be fundamental in reducing the false positive rate (FPR) on OOD examples. Based on this, we devise an angular spread loss to achieve the maximal dispersion of the prototypes of different classes prior to training. Subsequently, a prototype-enhanced contrastive loss is introduced to align embeddings of ID examples closely with their corresponding prototypes. In our proposed DHE, the maximal prototype dispersion is theoretically proved, thereby avoiding the pitfalls of local optima commonly encountered by most existing methods. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed DHE, which showcases a remarkable reduction in FPR95 (i.e., 5.37% on CIFAR-100) and more than doubling the computational efficiency when compared with the state-of-the-art methods. Gait planning of quadruped robots plays an important role in achieving less walking, including dynamic and static gait. In this article, a static and dynamic gait control method based on center of gravity stability margin is proposed. Firstly, the robot model and kinematics modeling are introduced. Secondly, the robot’s foot static and dynamic gait were planned and the foot trajectory was designed. Finally, two types of gait of the robot were simulated using Vrep simulation software, and the differences in stability and speed between the coordinated gait with speed and stability in the static and dynamic gait of a 12 degree of freedom robot were analyzed, verifying the effectiveness of the gait control method proposed in this paper.

Remote sensing object detection is an important research area in computer vision, widely applied in both military and civilian domains. However, challenges in remote sensing image object detection such as large image sizes, complex backgrounds, and significant variations in target scales are prevalent. To address these issues, this paper proposes a new Feature Denoising and Fusion Module (FDFM) aimed at enhancing the accuracy and robustness of object detection. This module comprises a Multi-Scale Denoising Submodule(MDS) and an Attention Optimization Submodule(AOS). The Multi-Scale Denoising Module aims to suppress lower-level texture noise by utilizing higher-level semantic features before the fusion process, reducing the impact of lower-level noise on subsequent multi-scale feature fusion. Meanwhile, the Attention Optimization Module seeks to enhance the precision of self-attention computations within the Multi-Scale Denoising Module without increasing the parameter count. The efficacy of this method was evaluated on public datasets DOTA, VisDrone, VOC and COCO, showing improvements in comparison to baseline models.

Few-shot learning poses a critical challenge due to the deviation problem caused by the scarcity of available samples. In this work, we aim to address deviations in both feature representations and prototypes. To achieve this, we propose a cross-modal de-deviation framework that leverages class semantic information to provide robust prior knowledge for the samples. This framework begins with a visual-to-semantic autoencoder trained on the labeled samples to predict semantic features for the unlabeled samples. Then, we devise a binary linear programming model to incorporate the initial prototypes with the cluster centers of the unlabeled samples. To avoid mismatch between the cluster centers and the initial prototypes, we conduct the label assignment process in the semantic space using the class ground truth semantic features as the reference points, with the cluster centers transformed into semantic representations. Moreover, we model a linear classifier with the concatenation of the refined prototypes and the class ground truth semantic features serving as the initial weights. Then we propose a novel optimization strategy based on the alternating least squares (ALS) model. From the ALS model, we can derive two closed-form solutions regarding to the features and weights, facilitating alternative optimization of them. Extensive experiments conducted on three standard benchmarks demonstrate the competitive advantages of our CMDD method over the state-of-the-art few-shot classification methods, confirming its effectiveness in reducing deviation. © 2023, The Authors. With the development of neural networks and the increasing popularity of automatic driving, the calibration of the LiDAR and the camera has attracted more and more attention. This calibration task is multi-modal, where the rich color and texture information captured by the camera and the accurate three-dimensional spatial information from the LiDAR is incredibly significant for downstream tasks. In real-world applications, as smart cars roll off the production line, their LiDAR and camera systems are meticulously calibrated, while in the rest of the car life period, the poses of the LiDARs and cameras no longer get continually supervised to ensure the security. To this end, this paper proposes a self-checking algorithm to judge whether the extrinsic parameters are well-calibrated during the car life period by introducing a binary classification network based on the fused information from the camera and the LiDAR. Moreover, since there is no such dataset for the task in this work, we further generate a new dataset branch from the KITTI dataset tailored for the task. Our experiments on the proposed dataset branch demonstrate the performance of our method. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work to address the significance of continually checking the calibrated extrinsic parameters for autonomous driving. To solve the problem of low accuracy of gait recognition in complex scenes, a novel skeleton-based gait recognition algorithm, GCGait, is proposed. Taking human posture as the input of gait feature, the interference caused by wearing changes and other factors is reduced. To extract sufficient input features, multi-branch input is used in the early stage of the model. By introducing the multi-attention mechanism, the network can learn the semantic information of the non-directly connected joints, excavate the most discriminative features from complex videos, and further improve the recognition performance. In order to reduce the influence of cross view, the fusion loss function is used in the experiment. Experimental results show that the average recognition rate of the proposed algorithm on the CASIA-B dataset is improved by 5.2%, and the average recognition accuracy on the OU-MVLP dataset is increased by 66.3%, which proves the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Facial attribute recognition is a popular and challenging research topic in computer vision. In the traditional deep learning based attribute recognition methods, the mid-level network features and the differences between attribute groups are not fully explored. To solve the above problem, a deep dual-path network is proposed for facial attribute recognition. In the multi-task learning framework, two sub-networks are employed to respectively extract the features of two attribute groups, i.e., local attributes and global ones, and designed with both different scale images and different depth networks. Furthermore, an adaptive Focal loss penalty scheme is developed to automatically assign weights to handle the class imbalance problem for facial attribute recognition. Experimental results on the challenging CelebA dataset show that the proposed method achieves the better performance than state-of-the-art methods. © 2020 ACM.

DeepFakes blur the boundaries between reality and forgery, resulting in the collapse of exiting credit system, causing immeasurable consequences for national security and social order. Through analysis of existing face forgery techniques, it is found that most generation techniques rely on random noise distribution, and global information will be lost after up sampling. Therefore, we propose a deepfake detection algorithm based on improved MobileViT, which uses CNN local space biasing and the global space representation of the Transformer network to learn the local features and global representation of forged faces, respectively. Coordinate attention is introduced to obtain directional perception and position sensitive information, making the model locate synthetic traces of fake faces better and fusion local and global representation more effectively. For the improved generalization of the model, with the GELU activation function to solve the problem of neuron death. Our model achieved 96.2% on FF++(C23) datasets, and 93.7%,94.1%,96.3%,87.9% on DF, F2F, FS, and NT datasets, respectively. Comparing with previous methods, our model has shown detection robustness and better generalization.
