Sparse autoencoder is one approach to automatically learn features from unlabeled data and received significant attention during the development of deep neural networks. However, the learning algorithm of sparse autoencoder suffers from slow learning speed because of gradient descent based algorithms have many drawbacks. In this paper, a fast learning algorithm for sparse autoenceder is proposed which based on pseudoinverse learning algorithm (PIL). The proposed method calculates encoder weight matrix by truncating the pseudoinverse matrix of input data. The pseudoinverse truncation matrix is used as the weights of encoder, and then the input data is mapped to the hidden layer space through the biased ReLU activation function. The decoder weights are also can computed by the PIL. Unlike the gradient descent based algorithm, the proposed method does not require a time-consuming iterative optimization process and select many user-dependent parameters such as learning rate or momentum constant too. The experimental results indicate the superiority of proposed method which is very efficient and also can learned the sparsity of samples.

In this paper, we consider the `q−regularized kernel regression with 0 q−penalty term over a linear span of features generated by a kernel function. We study the asymptotic behavior of the algorithm under the framework of learning theory. The contribution of this paper is two-fold. First, we derive a tight bound on the `2−empirical covering numbers of the related function space involved in the error analysis. Based on this result, we obtain the convergence rates for the `1−regularized kernel regression which is the best so far. For the image restoration problem of shredded paper broken by shredder with the same marginal feature, a new method based on spatial feature classification is proposed in this paper. Because no obvious marginal feature for rule shredder paper can be used to split, the feature similarity classification processing can greatly reduce the solution scale and improve the algorithm efficiency. The horizontal projection position of shredded paper image can be used to distinguish the same line for the shredded paper with words. Then the marginal moment invariants distance are defined by the left and right part spatial correlation information. The original order of adjacent shredded paper in the same line can be ensured by the minimum marginal distance. Similarly ordering up and down can be completed by the minimum marginal distance among up-down part stitching images. For the image stitching and restoration of large-scale rule shredded paper, the actual experimental result shows the good stability, efficiency and strong robustness. © 2017 IEEE.

In vivo diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is a promising technique to investigate noninvasively the fiber structures of the in vivo human heart. However, signal loss due to motions remains a persistent problem in in vivo cardiac DTI. We propose a novel motion-compensation method for investigating in vivo myocardium structures in DTI with free-breathing acquisitions. The method is based on an invertible Wavelet Scattering achieved by means of Convolutional Neural Network (WSCNN). It consists of first extracting translation-invariant wavelet scattering features from DW images acquired at different trigger delays and then mapping the fused scattering features into motion-compensated spatial DW images by performing an inverse wavelet scattering transform achieved using CNN. The results on both simulated and acquired in vivo cardiac DW images showed that the proposed WSCNN method effectively compensates for motion-induced signal loss and produces in vivo cardiac DW images with better quality and more coherent fiber structures with respect to existing methods, which makes it an interesting method for measuring correctly the diffusion properties of the in vivo human heart in DTI under free breathing. Deep learning is widely used in computer vision. In this study, we present a new method based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and subspace learning for face recognition under two circumstances. A very deep CNN architecture called VGG-Face, which learned on a large scale database, is used as feature extractor to extract the activation vector of the fully connected layer in the CNN architecture. Then, two types of subspace learning methods, namely, linear discriminate analysis (LDA) and whitening principal component analysis (WPCA), are respectively introduced to learn the subspace of the activation vectors for face recognition under multiple samples per subject and single sample per subject circumstances. The goals of applying subspace learning to the activation vectors are obtaining compact representation (dimensionality reduction) and performance improvement. Experiments on two face databases (CMU PIE and FERET) demonstrate the effectiveness of VGG-Face + LDA and VGG-Face + WPCA, compared with state-of-the-art methods. © 2017 IEEE.

We report the discovery of a highly dispersed fast radio burst, FRB 181123, from an analysis of ∼1500 hr of drift-scan survey data taken using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). The pulse has three distinct emission components, which vary with frequency across our 1.0–1.5 GHz observing band. We measure the peak flux density to be > 0.065 Jy and the corresponding fluence > 0.2 Jy ms. Based on the observed dispersion measure of 1812 cm−3 pc, we infer a redshift of ∼ 1.9. From this, we estimate the peak luminosity and isotropic energy to be . 2 × 1043 erg s−1 and . 2 × 1040 erg, respectively. With only one FRB from the survey detected so far, our constraints on the event rate are limited. We derive a 95% confidence lower limit for the event rate of 900 FRBs per day for FRBs with fluences > 0.025 Jy ms. We performed follow-up observations of the source with FAST for four hours and have not found a repeated burst. We discuss the implications of this discovery for our understanding of the physical mechanisms of FRBs. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

FWLBP: A scale invariant descriptor for texture classification

In this paper we propose a novel texture descriptor called Fractal Weighted Local Binary pattern (FWLBP). The fractal dimension (FD) measure is relatively invariant to scale-changes, and presents a good correlation with human viewpoint of surface roughness. We have utilized this property to construct a scale-invariant descriptor. Here, the input image is sampled using an augmented form of the local binary pattern (LBP) over three different radii, and then used an indexing operation to assign FD weights to the collected samples. The final histogram of the descriptor has its features calculated using LBP, and its weights computed from the FD image. The proposed descriptor is scale invariant, and is also robust in rotation or reflection, and partially tolerant to noise and illumination changes. In addition, the local fractal dimension is relatively insensitive to the bi-Lipschitz transformations, whereas its extension is adequate to precisely discriminate the fundamental of texture primitives. Experiment results carried out on standard texture databases show that the proposed descriptor achieved better classification rates compared to the state-of-the-art descriptors. In this paper, we present a novel method on image calibration, utilizing Total Least Square (TLS) method and Feed-forward Neural Network, to solve the aberration problem of LAMOST two-dimensional astronomical spectral images. In our method, training sample set is generated with domain knowledge, from which a number of discrete points are are extracted from spectral images with fiber tracing method, and output vectors are formed by the corresponding calibrated points, obtained by utilizing the TLS method. The Feed-forward Neural Network is trained to obtain the transformation matrix, casting about for the matching relationship between the input and output sets. We also perform comparative experiments on fiber tracing and spectrum extraction results between calibrated spectral images and uncalibrated spectral images, the results show an advantage of higher accuracy and precision by our proposed method.

Food Losses and wastes can become a major social and economic problem if not managed properly. Over the last decades, some research has focused on the waste and loss of fruits and vegetables due to the population growth, which makes essential to find out ways to reduce these wastes and losses. However, few studies dealt with the amount of fruit and vegetables that are wasted by consumers. The purpose of this study is to identify the main causes that affect the generation of wastes in household's consumer behavior. A structured survey was applied to 275 Brazilian consumers, where 53% were female and 47% male, restricted a region of Brazil to identify these causes. The results show that a high education level does not imply a low food waste. Moreover, it indicates that, despite the low volume waste by family, the sum of these wastes represents a huge volume affecting logistics and supply chain management, waste disposal areas and environmental pollution. © ILS 2018 - Information Systems, Logistics and Supply Chain, Proceedings. Public health problem is associated to eating habits, such as higher consumption of fast food and popular snakes. Excessive consumption of these foods can cause health problems such as obesity due to its high energy densities. These foods have become commonplace in world culture for their low price and the easy-to-eat foods mass production. It is known that fruits are essential in balanced diets and an important part of the nutrition strategies programs by contribute to a healthy life. Some works has shown a consumer's global trend demand for product and the life quality and between fresh food and healthy. The Brazil are the third in the word in fruit supply chain and one of the biggest problems facing is fruit loss. It is estimated that mean of fruits losses occurs in households. The present study aimed to determine Brazilian preference towards fruit and the Brazilian consumer behavior influence which might contribute to losses during consumption stage. We explored the literature and created a survey with 275 participants, 46% of men and 53% of women, to identify the perception of Brazilian consumers that may contribute to fruit loss. The results shown the consumer preferences in buying mature fruits is associated with habits and can contribute to food losses and waste, because according best practice to fruit preservation is recommended that the majority types of mellow fruits should be stored in refrigerator and some of them should be consume as soon as possible. © ILS 2018 - Information Systems, Logistics and Supply Chain, Proceedings.
