Advances in non-invasive neuroimaging, such as structural magnetic resonance imaging (sMRI), have en abled the construction of structural brain networks (SBNs), allowing in vivo mapping of anatomical connec tions. This study investigates brain network structural differences linked to different intelligence levels in children by individual morphometric similarity networks (MSNs) derived from sMRI data. Through group and individual-level analyses, we aim to uncover key topological features associated with cognitive perfor mance and to identify a suitable connection density for SBN analysis. Connection density strongly affects global and nodal topological features, with a range of p = 0.05 to 0.15 recommended for stable and optimal results. Gifted individuals exhibit stronger intra-hemispheric and intra-modular connectivity, a more balanced distribution of left-to-right intra-hemispheric connections, and lower mean versatility, supporting efficient and stable cognitive processing. Moreover, anatomical modularity analyses based on von Economo indicate that higher cognitive performance is linked to enhanced connectivity in specific areas (such as secondary sensory area, motor to association area and secondary sensory to limbic area), alongside selective reduction in cer tain modular connections (such as motor to insular area, association to secondary sensory area and motor to secondary sensory area). Furthermore, topological features, including participation coefficient and local effi ciency, are linked to cognitive performance. These findings provide valuable insights into the SBNs underlying cognitive levels in children. © 2025 by SCITEPRESS– Science and Technology Publications, Lda.

A Cartesian Encoding Graph Neural Network for Crystal Structures Property Prediction: Application to Thermal Ellipsoid Estimation

In the diffraction resolution of crystal structures, the thermal ellipsoids are a critical parameter that is usually more difficult to determine than atomic positions. These ellipsoids are quantified through the Anisotropic Displacement Parameters (ADPs), which provide critical insights into atomic vibrations within crystalline structures. ADPs reflect the thermal behaviour and structural properties of crystal structures. However, traditional methods to compute ADPs are computationally intensive. This paper presents CartNet, a novel graph neural network (GNN) architecture designed to predict properties of crystal structures efficiently by encoding the atomic structural geometry to the cartesian axes and the temperature of the crystal structure. Additionally, CartNet employs a neighbour equalization technique for message passing to help emphasise the covalent and contact interactions, and a novel Cholesky-based head to ensure valid ADP predictions. Furthermore, a rotational SO(3) data augmentation technique has been proposed during the training phase to generalize unseen rotations. To corroborate such procedure, an ADP dataset with over 200,000 experimental crystal structures from the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) has been curated. The model significantly reduces computational costs and outperforms existing previously resported methods in ADP prediction by 10.87%, while demonstrating a 34.77% improvement over the tested theoretical computation methods. Moreover, we have employed CartNet for other already known datasets that included different material properties, such as formation energy, band gap, total energy, energy above the convex hull, bulk moduli, and shear moduli. The proposed architecture outperformed previously reported methods by 7.71% in the Jarvis Dataset and 13.16% in the Materials Project Dataset, proving CarNet’s capability to achieve state-of-the-art results in several tasks. A two-stage approach for managing actuators redundancy and its application to fault tolerant flight control

In safety-critical systems such as transportation aircraft, redundancy of actuators is introduced to improve fault tolerance. How to make the best use of remaining actuators to allow the system to continue achieving a desired operation in the presence of some actuators failures is the main subject of this paper. Considering that many dynamical systems, including flight dynamics of a transportation aircraft, can be expressed as an input affine nonlinear system, a new state repre- sentation is adopted here where the output dynamics are related with virtual inputs associated with the intended operation. This representation, as well as the distribution matrix associated with the effectiveness of the remaining operational actuators, allows us to define different levels of fault tol- erant governability with respect to actuators＇ failures. Then, a two-stage control approach is devel- oped, leading frst to the inversion of the output dynamics to get nominal values for the virtual inputs and then to the solution of a linear quadratic （LQ） problem to compute the solicitation of each operational actuator. The proposed approach is applied to the control of a transportation air- craft which performs a stabilized roll maneuver while a partial failure appears. Two fault scenarios are considered and the resulting performance of the proposed approach is displayed and discussed.

With a new computer network automated investigative tools, and more channels for sharing information, the FBI hopes to finally know what it knows. The fall of 2001 saw the start of an ambitious program of modernization, which seems to recognize that the barriers that prevent the FBI from analyzing and sharing data are as much cultural as technological. These include accelerating a bureau-wide overhaul of basic computer hardware, software, and network infrastructure and replacing the FBI's ancient DOS-based Automated Case Support (ACS) database with a more user-friendly Windows-based system that can search on not just text but also photos, video and audio records, known as the Virtual Case File system.

Detecting anomalies in the behavior of a computer system is crucial for determining its security. One way of detecting these anomalies is based on the assessment of the amount and sequence of system calls issued by processes. While the number of processes on a computer can become very large, the number of system calls issued during the lifespan of such a process and its subprocesses can be humongous. In order to decide whether these anomalies are due to the intended system usage or if they are caused by malicious actions, this humongous amount of data needs being analyzed. Thus, a careful analysis of the system calls’ types, their amount, and their temporal sequence requires sophisticated support. Visualization is frequently used for this type of tasks. Starting with a carefully aggregation of the data presented in an overview representation, the quest for information is supported by carefully crafted interactions. These allow filtering the tremendous amount of data, thus removing the standard behavior data and leaving the potentially suspicious one. The latter can then be investigated on increasingly finer levels. Supporting this goal-oriented analysis, we propose novel interactive visualizations implemented in the tool SyCaT-Vis. SyCaT-Vis fosters obtaining important insights into the behavior of computer systems, the processes executed, and the system call sequences issued. © 2019 University of West Bohemia. Land Reuse processes are large planning and decision-making processes based on a large amount of geographic data. Therefore, it is essential that this data is as accurate as possible. However, errors can occur during the creation of the data and not all of them are directly noticeable. We report here what errors we have encountered while working with this geographic data, what problems they can cause, and how we have fixed them. Since the correction can be very time-consuming with the enormous amount of data, we have focused on an automatic correction. Not all of this data can be corrected this way, for the rest, we briefly indicate a procedure to support and simplify the manual correction. © 2021 Gesellschaft fur Informatik (GI). We present a GPU-based approach to visualize samples of normally distributed uncertain, three-dimensional scalar data. Our approach uses a mathematically sound interpolation scheme, i.e., Gaussian process regression. The focus of this work is to demonstrate, that GP-regression can be used for interpolation in practice, despite the high computational costs. The potential of our method is demonstrated by an interactive volume rendering of three-dimensional data, where the gradient estimation is directly computed by the field function without the need of additional sample points of the underlying data. We illustrate our method using three-dimensional data sets of the medical research domain. © 2015 The Eurographics Association.

IRS-1C/1D remote sensing datasets from Indian Space Research organization (ISRO) is of significant importance till now for change detection analysis in the field of agriculture growth, wetland mapping, urban sprawl monitoring, snow/glacier studies and ingestion of historical digital sensor data in data cube framework for doing data analytics and generation of value added information. Currently, IRS-1C/1D georeferenced data products have system level location accuracy go up to 1 Km. In addition, the location error of IRS-1C/1D datasets are increased to many kilometers especially in hilly terrain scenes. Such higher location accuracy error makes legacy IRS-1C/1D data not directly usable for any kind of space borne applications. In this paper, an efficient approach is presented to improve the geo-location accuracy of IRS-1C/1D data by incorporating inflight geometric calibration exercises. The rigorous sensor model is fed with primary image, ancillary orbit and attitude data, digital elevation model (DEM) and a reference image to produce ortho-rectified product. The major challenge is to do automatic feature matching of IRS-1C/1D data with current RS-2A reference image database to achieve sub-pixel level geometric error. As datasets are more than two decades older, the number of outliers in matched feature points are more. Also geo-location error of 1C/1D is varying a lot which makes it difficult to set the search window radius for feature matching. To handle this scenario, mode seeking based pruning mechanism is added with robust SIFT feature matching technique which is independent of search window size. Additionally, SIFT parameters are also fine-tuned to get more stable feature points. The approach developed is tested in many multi temporal IRS-1C/1D LISS-3 datasets. The geo-location error of the products generated is at sub-pixel level accuracy with respect to the reference. A 'client pull' mechanism is described by which applications can reliably transmit point-point video over a network with time varying bit rate. The system is particularly useful using Internet delivery over wireless networks, and is suitable for carrying live video. The problem is considered at the application level, using protocols such as TCP which will guarantee data delivery, however slowly. At a fixed image quality, the client requests frames which the server codes on demand. Latency can be overcome by the client using recent network performance to predict the time at which a frame should be requested. © 2002 IEEE.

The paper presents a perspective on on-going and anticipated developments in military image understanding system architectures: Briefly discussed are the types of missions and applications motivating system developments;resulting system requirements and classes of supporting algorithms. The authors discuss resulting processor requirements and show by case study how they are addressed in past and present IU system designs. The trend established is development from early applications-specific hardwired processors to future generation modular, reconfigurable, high-level programmable VLSI system architectures.
