Optimal Transport Quantization Based on Cross-X Semantic Hypergraph Learning for Fine-grained image Retrieval

Large-scale fine-grained image retrieval aims to learn compact discriminative feature representations based on mining the subtle distinctions between visually similar objects. However, existing fine-grained image retrieval methods focus on enhancing the attention to the discriminative regions within single images, which barely exploit the high-order relational information between the global features and local region features across different images. Thus, the over-fitting problem of complex personalized differences can not be effectively solved. In addition, existing unconstrained vector quantization methods tend to assign unquantized feature vectors to a few major codewords, which are unable to effectively distinguish the quantized features and reduce the redundant information. To address these issues, we propose a novel optimal transport quantization method based on cross-X semantic hypergraph learning for large-scale fine-grained image retrieval. Specifically, we first introduce a cross-layer multi-scale aggregation module to extract the global features and local region features. Subsequently, we build a semantic hypergraph to model the high-order correlations between the global features and local region features extracted from different layers, different scales and different images, which can alleviate the over-fitting problem of complex personalized differences by suppressing sample-level and background noise. Moreover, we introduce an error regularization term into the progressive asymmetric quantization loss to reduce the quantization errors and preserve the semantic similarity. Finally, we attempt to introduce the code balance and uncorrelated constraints into the multi-codebook quantization framework to improve the utilization efficiency of codewords and reduce the redundant information, which can be approximated by solving the optimal transport problem. A simulation analysis was conducted to investigate the stress distribution of Package-on-Package (PoP) assembly array solder joints subjected to thermal-torsional coupling loads, with the validity of the simulation confirmed through coupled loading stress-strain measurement experiments. The volume-weighted average method was employed to calculate the average equivalent stress (Δσ) of the critical solder joint danger element layer within the PoP assembly array, using Δσ as the evaluation benchmark. The impact and sensitivity of structural parameters on the thermal-torsional coupling stress of solder joints were examined. A structural parameter sensitivity model was developed to facilitate the stability and optimization analysis of the structural parameter intervals. The results indicate that solder joints in the lower array of the PoP assembly experience higher thermal-torsional coupling stress, with the peak internal stress occurring at the interface between the solder joint and the copper pad. The variation in thermal-torsional coupling stress of the array solder joints is more pronounced in the low-temperature region compared to the high-temperature region, with maximum stress occurring at -55°C and minimum stress observed at 125°C. Within the structural parameter range, the Δσ value of the critical solder joint shows a negative correlation with solder joint height, solder joint diameter, and substrate thickness, and a positive correlation with PCB thickness. The sensitivity to structural parameters follows the order: solder joint diameter, solder joint height, PCB thickness, and substrate thickness. Finally, the optimal range of structural parameters was determined, and the stability of this range was assessed. © 2011-2012 IEEE.

Palmprint recognition has emerged as a prominent biometric technology, widely applied in diverse scenarios. Traditional handcrafted methods for palmprint recognition often fall short in representation capability, as they heavily depend on researchers' prior knowledge. Deep learning (DL) has been introduced to address this limitation, leveraging its remarkable successes across various domains. While existing surveys focus narrowly on specific tasks within palmprint recognition-often grounded in traditional methodologies-there remains a significant gap in comprehensive research exploring DL-based approaches across all facets of palmprint recognition. This paper bridges that gap by thoroughly reviewing recent advancements in DL-powered palmprint recognition. The paper systematically examines progress across key tasks, including region-of-interest segmentation, feature extraction, and security/privacy-oriented challenges. Beyond highlighting these advancements, the paper identifies current challenges and uncovers promising opportunities for future research. By consolidating state-of-the-art progress, this review serves as a valuable resource for researchers, enabling them to stay abreast of cutting-edge technologies and drive innovation in palmprint recognition. This paper presents a novel approach that leverages two models to integrate features from numerous unlabeled images, addressing the challenge of semi-supervised salient object detection (SSOD). Unlike conventional methods that rely on selecting high-quality pseudo labels, our method identifies the model that produces consistent predictions for original images and their color transformation versions from two models to infer reliable pseudo labels for all unlabeled images, improving the diversity of the training set. Specifically, we propose adaptive selection indicators to quantify prediction differences and guide the updates of the two models using the unlabeled set alternatively. Initially, two models used in our framework are trained on the labeled set. Once the adaptive selection indicator conditions are satisfied, one model is designated as the proxy, generating pseudo labels, while the other serves as the saliency model, which is further trained using these pseudo labels. Subsequently, the updated saliency model optimizes the proxy model's parameters according to another adaptive selection indicator. Experimental results and ablation studies on six benchmark salient object detection datasets confirm the effectiveness and robustness of our method. Our approach achieves performance comparable to recent fully supervised methods while using only one eighth of the labeled data, demonstrating its potential for efficient and scalable SSOD. © 2025 IEEE.

NIR-to-VIS face recognition is identifying faces of two different domains by extracting domain-invariant features. However, this is a challenging problem due to the two different domain characteristics, and the lack of NIR face dataset. In order to reduce domain discrepancy while using the existing face recognition models, we propose a 'Relation Module' which can simply add-on to any face recognition models. The local features extracted from face image contain information of each component of the face. Based on two different domain characteristics, to use the relationships between local features is more domain-invariant than to use it as it is. In addition to these relationships, positional information such as distance from lips to chin or eye to eye, also provides domain-invariant information. In our Relation Module, Relation Layer implicitly captures relationships, and Coordinates Layer models the positional information. Also, our proposed Triplet loss with conditional margin reduces intra-class variation in training, and resulting in additional performance *** from the general face recognition models, our add-on module does not need to pre-train with the large scale dataset. The proposed module fine-tuned only with CASIA NIR-VIS 2.0 database. With the proposed module, we achieve 14.81% rank-1 accuracy and 15.47% verification rate of 0.1% FAR improvements compare to two baseline models. © 2019 IEEE.

Automatic Artist recognition of Songs for Advanced Retrieval

Automatic recognition of artists is very important in acoustic music indexing, browsing, and contentbased acoustic music retrieving, but synchronously it is still a challenging errand to extract the most representative and salient attributes to depict diversiform artists. In this paper, we developed a novel system to complete the reorganization of artist automatically. The proposed system can efficiently identify the artist's voice of a raw song by analyzing substantive features extracted from both pure music and singing song mixed with accompanying music. The experiments on different genres of songs illustrate that the proposed system is possible.

In the mobile phone glass industry, curved glass is widely used. Whether the curved glass is measured with high efficiency and precision and whether the curved edge profile error can be evaluated directly affects the quality and service cycle of glass products. In view of the difficulty of accurate measurement and evaluation of 3D mobile phones curved glass profile, a visual measurement method of 3D mobile phones curved glass profile error based on laser scanning and shape template matching is proposed in this paper. Accurate measurement of mobile phone curved glass greatly improves the fit between curved glass and mobile phone and the efficiency of production. Therefore, this paper proposes a method for evaluating the contour degree of curved glass on mobile phones based on Open Cascade and OpenCV. This method uses the lasers and camera equipment to extract the profile outline of the curved glass, then extract the profile outline of the mobile phone curved glass model that has been drawn in 3D software. The extracted contour lines are matched by methods such as translation and rotation, and finally the distance between the corresponding points is calculated as the contour error. Experimental results show that the method is able to accurately measure the profile error and greatly reduce the measurement instability and have good robustness. © 2020 IEEE.

In response to the issues of over-segmentation, excessive noise, and suboptimal segmentation results commonly encountered in existing image segmentation algorithms based on Markov Random Fields (MRF), this paper proposes an enhanced image segmentation algorithm that integrates MRF with the Sobel operator. The algorithm begins by performing an initial segmentation of the image using a Markov Random Field (MRF)-based method. Subsequently, an enhanced Sobel operator is employed to eliminate noise points and extract fine edge details from the image. Finally, the segmentation result is refined through pixel-wise operations with the edge detection result, resulting in the ultimate segmentation output. The evaluation of segmentation performance is conducted using the Dice coefficient and Mean Hausdorff Distance as assessment metrics. Through experimental analysis, the method in this paper can improve the segmentation effect of the traditional MRF segmentation algorithm, and has better performance and higher adaptivity. © COPYRIGHT SPIE.
