The availability of new technologies in the areas of digital electronics, communications, internet, and computer technologies opens a door to build a smart grid, which can increase significantly the capacity, services and intelligence of power systems. This paper proposes a power distribution network management cloud platform based on Tekla Xpower. Proposed system can support the implementation of current power grid and/or the coming smart grid. Utilizing the existing computing and storage installations, cloud platform can integrate the existing resources to improve the computation and storage capacities, the data security of the entire system, and can increase application intelligence, service quality and decision-making capability as well. The four layer architecture of cloud platform is designed, and a pilot case study for DMS is provided.

smart grid has been widely acknowledged around the world. The rapid development of complex network theory provides a new perception into the research of smart grid. Based on the latest progress in the field of complex network theory, smart grid can be treated as small world networks. This paper examines the tolerance of smart grid against attacks to analyze its vulnerability, and proposes a technique to study the relationship between the electric betweenness and the reliability of smart grid. Based on these researches, the specific concept of vulnerability investigation to indicate smart grid is clarified. Furthermore, the proposed method will be investigated by an IEEE test system in contrast with the result from actual concept in power grid to indicate its effectiveness.

Old oil palm trunk (OPT) is available in large quantity in Southeast Asia and a potential lignocellulosic biomass resource for bioethanol production. Dilute acid (DA) pretreatment was applied to the old oil palm trunk for enzymatic saccharification. The pretreatment conditions were investigated through a fractional factorial experiment design. The pretreated substrates were analyzed for chemical composition, and their enzymatic digestibility was investigated and compared. The results indicated that the DA pretreatment was able to improve enzymatic hydrolysis by removing hemicelluloses from OPT. Mild pretreatment preserved more hemicellulose and cellulose in pretreated OPT, but severe pretreatment was necessary to achieve satisfactory enzymatic hydrolysis of OPT. For example, the DA pretreatment with 3% H 2 SO 4 at 180 °C for 40 min could achieve an 80% enzymatic hydrolysis.
