Effect of types of control materials in a modified sedimentation equipment batch laboratory scale

The purpose of this research is to be able to recognize laboratory scale sedimentation devices in the process of deposition through batch system experiments in a cylindrical tub, to explain how the relationship between time, height of deposition and concentration of various solids with sedimentation rates, can compare the precipitating materials used in the sedimentation process both manually and automatically, and can determine the performance of tools and sedimentation rates by using a variety of sedimentation and flocculant materials used in the sedimentation process both without the addition of flocculants or with the addition of flocculants. In supporting this research, the method used is experimentation and analysis. The sample is a mixture of media that is water - depositional material (solids) where the depositional material has previously been sieved and cleaned of impurities and the variables analyzed were deposition time, deposition height, suspension concentration and concentration of flocculant addition. the settling material used varies, among others: 50 grams, 100 grams, 150 grams, 200 grams, and 250 grams, then put into a settling tube. While the results can be obtained from visualization data that is based on more accurate observations and data processing conditions (measurements) obtained in the form of the influence of time on settling rate, the influence of sedimentation column height on settling rate and the effect of solid concentration on settling rate. From the results obtained from various settling materials, the settling speed for CaCO3 precipitates without flocculants and with flocculants is 4.43 cm / minute and 3.86 cm / minute. For the settling speed for tapioca flour depositor without flocculant and with flocculant is 23.64 cm / minute and 23.47 cm / minute. And for settling speed for dry soil sedimentation material without flocculant and with flocculant is 18.60 cm / minute and 15.10 cm / minute and for settling speed of active carbon

The purpose of this research is to prioritize the factors that is important for the successful of halal food standard practice in food manufacturing small medium enterprises (SMEs). This study employed a non-probability convenience sampling method for collecting data. The main instrument for data collection is using a structured questionnaire. The respondents of this research is halal-certified SMEs in Solo Raya. A partial least square structural equation model (SEM-PLS) was applied to test the proposed structural model. Subsequently, the importance-performance map analysis (IPMA) was performed to prioritize the critical success factors that need special attention by SMEs' managers intending to adopt halal standard in their daily food production. Finding of this research revealed that employee involvement has a positive and significance impact to the halal food standard practices in food SMEs. Another factors, namely management support and customer focus have also a positive impact but not statistically significant. Findings from IPMA indicate that SMEs should focus on the employee involvement. The findings of this study are beneficial not only for SME's manager but also for government institution responsible to the development of SMEs.

Comparison of Taylor Galerkin and FTCS models for dam-break simulation

The aim of this paper is to compare the ability of two numerical models to simulate two-dimensional dam-break flows. Dam-break modelling is important in reducing the high-risk of dam failure by determining the water flow movement and its effect on buildings downstream. In this study, the Taylor Galerkin and Forward Time Central Space method is presented to simulate 2-D dam-break flow. The Hansen filter is applied to both methods to reduce numerical instability oscillations in the model. The filters were used for each time step at each computing point. The model is verified by comparing the result simulation with numerical results from previous studies. The result show that Taylor Galerkin numerical scheme with Hansen filter is successful to simulate the problem of 2-D dam-break. Also, the Taylor Galerkin model has better results than the FTCS model. Studies like this are needed for mitigation efforts in the event of dam failure.

The Use of Geogebra Software in Learning Geometry Transformation to Improve Students' Mathematical Understanding Ability

This article reports the findings of one pretest-posttest design experiment with the control group and with GeoGebra software learning application to examine the mathematical understanding abilities and responses of students taking Geometry Transformation course. The subjects of this study were 24 students of mathematics education study program in Universitas Langlangbuana. The research instrument consisted of a mathematical comprehension ability test and a student response questionnaire. Based on data analysis using SPSS 2.0.0 and Microsoft Excel 2013, the study found that achievement and improvement in mathematical understanding skills and responses of students who received learning with GeoGebra software were better than achievement and improvement in student's ability who obtain conventional approach for the high, middle and low categories. The study also found a moderate relationship between mathematical understanding ability and student response.

Conceptual model of start-up business for strengthening Madrasah funding using Dynamic System approaches

A start-up business is generally developed in a limited financial so that they grow slowly. It also happens on the Cassava Meatballs start-up business run by Madrasah Al-Binaa, one of an Islamic non-formal boarding school. Therefore, it is required some alternative tactics to provide the liquidity and get profits that will encourage the start-up business to grow, develop and be sustain. The start-up business contains some trade-offs so that this study uses Dynamic System approach to simulate the interrelationships among the variables. This study aims to develop a conceptual model of start-up business run by Madrasah Al-Binaa. It is expected that the conceptual model can represent the real system of the Madrasah start-up business. The conceptual model development is begun by observing the phenomena of the existing start-up business process, and then a causal loop diagram and their equations are built. The structure of the developed conceptual model consists of seven elements, i.e. customers, products, liquidity, debt, reputation, workers and household spending. The research method is descriptive analytics. The result shows that the developed model is different with the generic model. In the developed conceptual model, the entrepreneurs are not paid from private payoff, but allow to consider household spending.

Emission inventory of HC and CO of heavy construction equipment by using NONROAD engine modelling for toll road project in Indonesia

Indonesia's infrastructure project, particularly toll road projects provide mobilization services to hundreds of millions of workers, including infrastructure supporting functions such as road utility services, road maintenance, and road landscaping. To successfully bring these functions, the infrastructure authorities have to uphold an armada of heavy duty diesel (HDD) equipment including excavators, bulldozers, motor graders, pavers, and compactors. This HDD equipment consumes diesel fuel and therefore releases large quantities of pollutants, including hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO). In order to manage this emission effectively, an emissions inventory should be made first. The purpose of this study is to propose an inventory technique of emissions from the equipment fleet for toll road project in Indonesia from a by developing HC and CO emissions inventory which can be used as a management backing tool to minimize the environmental impact of the project. The sample case for this proposed technique is Rembang-Pasuruan Toll Road Project Section II in East Java, Indonesia, which utilizes 9 excavators, 2 bulldozers, 2 compactors, 1 motor grader, and 1 paver. By using emission factors from nonroad engine modeling developed by Environment Protection Agency (EPA), it is obtained that the average emission of HC is approximately 29.13 gr/hr or 233.05 gr/day, and the average emission of CO is about 124.94 gr/hr or equals to 999.52 gr/day.

The aim of this study is to analyze contemporary drinks marketing strategy using decision-making support techniques.. Drinks are a product that can quench thirst. Nowadays, many beverage businesses have sprung up (the term contemporary drink). Today's drinks are one of the business opportunities for millennials because these drinks can be served practically, creatively, and innovatively. The number of brands and variants of contemporary drinks circulating, which makes it difficult for consumers to choose delicious contemporary drinks. In addition, this analysis can be used as information for those who want to find opportunities in the beverage business. Sources of data were obtained by conducting interviews and giving random questionnaires to 440 respondents of all ages in Pematangsiantar city. In this case, the decision support system technique used is the PROMETHEE (Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluation) method. The assessment criteria used to assess the best alternative based on consumers are Attractiveness (G1), Product Information (G2), Taste (G3), Packaging (G4). Meanwhile, the alternative drinks that are currently used are Manja Cheese Tea (F1), Nam Nam Thai (F2), Ocha (F3), Es Gandeng (F4), and Es Gak Beres (F5). The results of the study indicate that the F1 alternative (Manja Cheese Tea) with Netflow = 0.08 is the first best alternative, and the F5 alternative (Es Gak Beres) with Netflow = 0.03 is the second-best alternative according to consumer interest. It is hoped that the results of the research can provide information and help consumers in determining current drinks and become information for those who want to find opportunities in the beverage business.

Fermented cassava as an alternative flour for pasta noodle

Cassava is widely cultivated in South East Asia countries like Indonesia. However, ordinary cassava flour cannot substitute wheat flour due to lack of gluten. Fermented cassava flour (fercaf) is a protein enriched cassava flour which is produced from a fermentation process of cassava flakes by lactic acid bacteria. Fercaf may serve as substitution to wheat flour, especially in pasta production. Nevertheless, a number of modifications should be exercise in product formulation to meet the ordinary 'wheat base' pasta product specifications. The current study was focus on these modifications i.e., addition of other flour and addition of hydrocolloids. The properties of pasta such as elasticity, yield, cooking weight, hardness, stickiness as well as sensory property were examined to determine the best pasta formulation. The results show that pasta made from fercaf with the addition of rice and corn flour gave strong and elastic texture while hydrocolloid addition increased water-binding of the pasta. The final pasta formulation included ratio of fercaf:rice:corn flour by 70:10:20 and addition of 2,5% xanthan gum.

MnBi2Te4 (MBT) is the first intrinsic magnetic topological insulator with the interaction of spin-momentum locked surface electrons and intrinsic magnetism, and it exhibits novel magnetic and topological phenomena. Recent studies suggested that the interaction of electrons and magnetism can be affected by the Mn-doped Bi2Te3 phase at the surface due to inevitable structural defects. Here we report an observation of nonreciprocal transport, i.e. current-direction-dependent resistance, in a bilayer composed of antiferromagnetic MBT and nonmagnetic Pt. The emergence of the nonreciprocal response below the Néel temperature confirms a correlation between nonreciprocity and intrinsic magnetism in the surface state of MBT. The angular dependence of the nonreciprocal transport indicates that nonreciprocal response originates from the asymmetry scattering of electrons at the surface of MBT mediated by magnon. Our work provides an insight into nonreciprocity arising from the correlation between magnetism and Dirac surface electrons in intrinsic magnetic topological insulators. © 2022, CC BY.

Halal assurance system implementation and performance of food manufacturing SMEs: A causal approach

Halal assurance has become an important parameter in the selection of consumer goods including food products. Halal is not just regulating the content in food products, but all the processes related to the food production process. This paper presents the dynamic link between halal assurance system (HAS) implementation and performance of food manufacturing SMEs. The relationship was modeled through Causal Loop Diagram (CLD) based on literature reviews. Firstly, this research was done by identifying success factors, barriers, and enablers associated with HAS implementation. Its effect on the performance of food manufacturing SMEs was also explored. Then CLD was developed to better understand the causal relationship. For further research, this causal model can be used as a framework to study empirically the dynamics of HAS implementation in food manufacturing SMEs.
