The aim of this paper is to compare the ability of two numerical models to simulate two-dimensional dam-break flows. Dam-break modelling is important in reducing the high-risk of dam failure by determining the water flow movement and its effect on buildings downstream. In this study, the Taylor Galerkin and Forward Time Central Space method is presented to simulate 2-D dam-break flow. The Hansen filter is applied to both methods to reduce numerical instability oscillations in the model. The filters were used for each time step at each computing point. The model is verified by comparing the result simulation with numerical results from previous studies. The result show that Taylor Galerkin numerical scheme with Hansen filter is successful to simulate the problem of 2-D dam-break. Also, the Taylor Galerkin model has better results than the FTCS model. Studies like this are needed for mitigation efforts in the event of dam failure. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This article reports the findings of one pretest-posttest design experiment with the control group and with GeoGebra software learning application to examine the mathematical understanding abilities and responses of students taking Geometry Transformation course. The subjects of this study were 24 students of mathematics education study program in Universitas Langlangbuana. The research instrument consisted of a mathematical comprehension ability test and a student response questionnaire. Based on data analysis using SPSS 2.0.0 and Microsoft Excel 2013, the study found that achievement and improvement in mathematical understanding skills and responses of students who received learning with GeoGebra software were better than achievement and improvement in student's ability who obtain conventional approach for the high, middle and low categories. The study also found a moderate relationship between mathematical understanding ability and student response. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study purpose to determine the effect of intellectual intelligence, emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence and organizational commitment on the performance of production employees. The sampling method used was simple random sampling and the determination of the number of samples in this study using the Slovin formula resulted in 160 respondents, the data used were primary data with a questionnaire technique, hypothesis testing was carried out with multiple linear regression analysis techniques using a two-tailed test. with Amos 24. The results showed that intellectual intelligence, emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence had a significant positive effect on employee, while the organizational commitment variable did not significantly affect employee performance. This is because Intellectual Intelligence, Emotional Intelligence, and Spiritual Intelligence provide support for someone to work better so that their performance increases. The implication of this research is that companies need to make clear work plans and benchmarks at the beginning of the year, so that the targets to be achieved by employees in the company are clear.

Saving matrix application to minimize fuel distribution route allocation

The irregular allocation of routes generated for each shift is a problem that exists in PT. Rewulu. This research allocates routes and distribution schedules and determines the capacity and number of effective and efficient tank trucks to profit the company. This research uses the savings matrix method, which is essentially a method to minimize distance, time, or cost by considering existing constraints. The calculation of the savings matrix method obtained fuel distribution in shift 1 has 30 routes, 2 has 28, and 3 is 25. Route 1 shift 1 includes refreshment stand, gas station 44,562.10 (A62), gas station 44,562.01 (A64), gas station 44,562.09 (A66), and return to refreshment stand with a total travel distance of 192 km with a required time of 6.4 hours with 64 liters of fuel, with a fuel cost of Rp 329,600.00. With the rapid growth of the textile, leather, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries, concerns about pollutants in these sectors, especially dye pollutants, are increasing. This research characterizes bacterial nanocellulose acetate membranes made from Sargassum extract reinforced with copper oxide nanoparticles and tests their antibacterial properties and dye removal in water. Sargassum sp. extract was fermented using Acetobacter xylinum for 10 days, producing bacterial nanocellulose, which was then esterified to create bacterial nanocellulose acetate. Copper oxide nanoparticles were added to the bacterial nanocellulose acetate solution in varying concentrations, cast, and oven-dried. The membrane was analyzed using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, antibacterial activity, and dye removal. Results showed uniform copper oxide nanoparticles distribution on the membrane surface. Structure analysis revealed diffraction peaks at 35.44° and 38.57°, indicating a reduced crystalline index but improved membrane effectiveness. Antibacterial tests showed a zone of inhibition against bacterial growth, increasing with higher copper oxide nanoparticle content. The addition of copper oxide nanoparticles also influenced the dye removal capacity for Metanil Yellow, Congo Red, Eosin Yellow, Methylene Blue, and Malachite Green. The kinetic analysis showed that the adsorption process follows a pseudo-first-order model, with higher correlation coefficients (R2) compared to the pseudo-second-order model. © 2024 The Author(s)

Coffee is one of the plantation crops that has long been a cultivated plant in Indonesia. The classification of coffee fruit maturity manually still has several weaknesses and requires a long process, has low accuracy and is inconsistent, this is because the determination is made subjectively by coffee farmers. As for the classification of coffee fruit maturity levels automatically, it can be faster with objective determination, therefore the use of image processing is relatively easier, faster, and based on a quantified descriptive assessment to determine coffee maturity. Image Processing is a method used to process or manipulate images in 2-dimensional form. In the classification process, there are many methods used to obtain classification of objects based on training data. One of the algorithms used for the classification process is K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN). KNN is a classification technique for objects based on training data that is the closest or has similar characteristics to the object. KNN includes supervised learning algorithms, where the results of the new query instance are classified based on the majority of the categories in K-Nearest Neighbors (K-NN). The finding indicated that class classification of ripe and unripe were 88,24 % and 100% respectively with 93,33% accuracy level.

A heavy-duty equipment, such as a dump truck operated in a mining industry experiences degradation caused by usage and operational condition. There are operational conditions influencing dump truck failure rate, such as load weight, road inclination and environmental conditions. In this research, dump truck failure is modeled using proportional hazard model (PHM) considering operational condition, age, and usage factors. Maintenance action is needed to control continuing failure to maintain the equipment always in good operation condition. A dump truck will need both preventive and corrective maintenance actions in order to be readily available for operation in mining industry. Considering that dump trucks are very complex and expensive, maintenance will be economical if it is conducted by an agent. In this research maintenance contract involved 2 parties, the owner and the agent. The agent offers 3 (three) options of maintenance contracts: (i) in house preventive maintenance conducting by the owner and corrective maintenance conducted by the agent (ii) both preventive and corrective maintenance conducted by the agent, (iii) preventive maintenance by the agent and in-house corrective maintenance by the owner, and determination of the optimal contract price for each option. Next the owner will choose the best option based on several options offered by the agent. The model used for decision is formulated by Nash game theory. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2020.

Saving matrix and nearest neighborhood with permutation for capacitated vehicle routing problem using Google Maps and VBA

A bakery company in Bandung produces and distributes a variety of bread to a number of shops in Bandung and Jakarta. The company is intended to design a route to get a route with a minimum time. The design of the route can be performed by using the Saving Matrix method which performs route design considering the highest saving. Considering the capacity of the vehicles used and the demand from each shop every day, the resulting routes can be different every day but will remain the same every week. To get a minimum savings, it is necessary to sort the route based on the minimum time using the Nearest Neighborhood method and Permutation theory. The routing results in the company show that Saving Matrix and Nearest Neighborhood with Permutation is capable to create a more than 50 percent saving in time and distance compared to the route currently they are using.

This study evaluates bacterial cellulose (BC) membranes reinforced with zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NP) derived from pineapple biowaste. While BC membranes are widely studied, their use in aquaculture and ZnO reinforcement remains underexplored. Membranes were synthesized with 0.25–1.0 wt% ZnO-NP and characterized by SEM, XRD, FTIR, tensile strength, antibacterial activity, filtration efficacy, and analysis using one-way ANOVA. Results showed ZnO-NP enhanced membrane crystallinity and tensile strength, with 0.25 wt% being optimal. The membranes exhibited improved antibacterial activity, reducing bacterial content by 90.6 % and contaminants by 57 %, enhancing water quality for aquaculture and supporting sustainability and the long-term viability of aquaculture. © 2025

In manufacturing industry, technoware and humanware play a key role in production floor. Both factors define the extent of technological advancement in a certain manufacturing company. This study took place in a producer of reinforcing steel bars (rebar) in Jakarta, Indonesia. This research aims to analyze the gap between the industry standard and actual capabilities of technoware and humanware in the company. Both elements are measured by Quality Function Deployment (QFD), which consists of three subsequent steps. First, the required level of technoware and humanware in the industry standard is studied according to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). The output quality and production process are standardized based on the customer’s needs and benefits for the former, and the technical response for the latter. Second, the actual technological advancement in the firm is measured. The data gathered from the first two steps is further analyzed, based on technoware and humanware readiness measurement with regard to the SNI standards using two matrices. The calculation on planning matrix shows the level of technological component advancement with regard to industry standard, while the calculation on technical matrix indicates the effectivity of production process with regard to the fulfillment of quality standards. The result shows that the company’s readiness level of technoware and humanware has fulfilled the required standard, and it becomes a basis to further develop technological components and to improve the production process of reinforcing steel bars. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2020.
