Machine-learning-based sampling inspection under OQC capacity for real-time quality monitoring in the TFT-LCd industry

In the thin film transistor-liquid crystal display (TFT-LCd) industry, the competition is fierce, and the external failure cost is high. To improve the quality of released products, sampling inspection under outgoing quality control (OQC) is conducted before products are released. Owing to the variety and complexity of inspection items, the task must be carried out manually while realising automation is difficult. Traditional random sampling inspection is limited by sampling quantity, manpower, and material resources. To effectively improve acceptable quality levels, this paper proposes a quality predictive monitoring framework tailored to the production and inspection characteristics of the TFT-LCd industry. This framework includes real-time automatic quality monitoring based on an optimal machine learning prediction model with two-phase feature creation, and it also addresses OQC inspection capacity constraints. Experimental results show the prediction performance based on proposed model is better than the traditional random sampling process. In practice, superior average outgoing quality improves by more than 70% at the same sampling level. In addition, the features of the process can be further controlled and managed based on the prediction model to monitor the key parameters in real time and respond to abnormalities quickly, thereby further improving the quality of released products. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

While temozolomide (TMZ) has been a cornerstone in the treatment of newly diagnosed glioblastoma (GBM), a significant challenge has been the emergence of resistance to TMZ, which compromises its clinical benefits. Additionally, the nonspecificity of TMZ can lead to detrimental side effects. Although TMZ is capable of penetrating the blood-brain barrier (BBB), our research addresses the need for targeted therapy to circumvent resistance mechanisms and reduce off-target effects. This study introduces the use of PEGylated mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) with octyl group modifications (C8-MSN) as a nanocarrier system for the delivery of docetaxel (dTX), providing a novel approach for treating TMZ-resistant GBM. Our findings reveal that C8-MSN is biocompatible in vitro, and dTX@C8-MSN shows no hemolytic activity at therapeutic concentrations, maintaining efficacy against GBM cells. Crucially, in vivo imaging demonstrates preferential accumulation of C8-MSN within the tumor region, suggesting enhanced permeability across the blood-brain tumor barrier (BBTB). When administered to orthotopic glioma mouse models, dTX@C8-MSN notably prolongs survival by over 50%, significantly reduces tumor volume, and decreases side effects compared to free dTX, indicating a targeted and effective approach to treatment. The apoptotic pathways activated by dTX@C8-MSN, evidenced by the increased levels of cleaved caspase-3 and PARP, point to a potent therapeutic mechanism. Collectively, the results advocate dTX@C8-MSN as a promising candidate for targeted therapy in TMZ-resistant GBM, optimizing drug delivery and bioavailability to overcome current therapeutic limitations. © 2024 The Authors. Little research has been done for artificial intelligence applications of semiconductor backend. This study aims to develop a deep learning based fault diagnosis framework as prognostics and health management (phM) solutions with a comprehensive analytics process. A linear encoder sensor is employed to measure position, while data preparation is conducted to convert position information into a signal. Then, signal processing is used to extract the features, in which high pass filter is applied to normalize the signal and emphasize the features. High-dimensional features including time domain statistical features, time-frequency domain features obtained by continuous wavelet transform (CWT), and frequency domain features converted by fast Fourier transform (FFT) are extracted to prepare the dataset. An ensemble neural network model that integrates deep neural network (dNN) and convolutional neural network (CNN) is employed to recognize the pattern and diagnose the positioning errors. The accuracy and false alarm rate are considered to support maintenance decisions. An empirical study was conducted in a world leading IC assembly and testing company for validation. The results have shown that the proposed approach can effectively detect inappropriate installation of the bond head in wire bonding equipment for predictive maintenance and cost reduction. © 1988-2012 IEEE.

Purpose: We investigated the volumetric changes in the components of the cholinergic pathway for patients with early mild cognitive impairment (EMCI) and those with late mild cognitive impairment (LMCI). The effect of patients’ apolipoprotein 4 (APOE-ε4) allele status on the structural changes were analyzed. Methods: Structural magnetic resonance imaging data were collected. Patients’ demographic information, plasma data, and validated global cognitive composite scores were included. Relevant features were extracted for constructing machine learning models to differentiate between EMCI (n = 312) and LMCI (n = 541) and predict patients’ neurocognitive function. The data were analyzed primarily through one-way analysis of variance and two-way analysis of covariance. Results: Considerable differences were observed in cholinergic structural changes between patients with EMCI and LMCI. Cholinergic atrophy was more prominent in the LMCI cohort than in the EMCI cohort (P < 0.05 family-wise error corrected). APOE-ε4 differentially affected cholinergic atrophy in the LMCI and EMCI cohorts. For LMCI cohort, APOE-ε4 carriers exhibited increased brain atrophy (left amygdala: P = 0.001;right amygdala: P = 0.006, and right Ch123, P = 0.032). EMCI and LCMI patients showed distinctive associations of gray matter volumes in cholinergic regions with executive (R² = 0.063 and 0.030 for EMCI and LMCI, respectively) and language (R² = 0.095 and 0.042 for EMCI and LMCI, respectively) function. Conclusions: Our data confirmed significant cholinergic atrophy differences between early and late stages of mild cognitive impairment. The impact of the APOE-ε4 allele on cholinergic atrophy varied between the LMCI and EMCI groups. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Breast cancer is a malignant tumor with a high mortality rate among women. Therefore, it is necessary to develop novel therapies to effectively treat this disease. In this study, iron selenide nanorods (FeSe2 NRs) were designed for use in magnetic hyperthermic, photothermal, and chemodynamic therapy (MHT/PTT/CdT) for breast cancer. To illustrate their efficacy, FeSe2 NRs were modified with the chemotherapeutic agent methotrexate (MTX). MTX-modified FeSe2 (FeSe2-MTX) exhibited excellent controlled drug release properties. Fe2+ released from FeSe2 NRs induced the release of •OH from H2O2 via a Fenton/Fenton-like reaction, enhancing the efficacy of CdT. Under alternating magnetic field (AMF) stimulation and 808 nm laser irradiation, FeSe2-MTX exerted potent hyperthermic and photothermal effects by suppressing tumor growth in a breast cancer nude mouse model. In addition, FeSe2 NRs can be used for magnetic resonance imaging in vivo by incorporating their superparamagnetic characteristics into a single nanomaterial. Overall, we presented a novel technique for the precise delivery of functional nanosystems to tumors that can enhance the efficacy of breast cancer treatment. © 2024 The Authors. Cargo molecule-encapsulated dNA capsules synthesized with a solid sacrificial template have elicited significant interest in the last decade and have been used for active materials in applications ranging from biosensors to drug delivery. However, the correlation between template properties and the subsequent assembly and triggered release behavior of the resultant carriers remain uninvestigated. In this study, ethylene glycol (EG) was added during the CaCO3 precipitation synthesis to yield particles of various sizes and surface properties, and the adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-responsive release characteristics of the fabricated dNA capsules affected by these particle properties were investigated. The geometry, crystallization, and surface morphology of the CaCO3 particles co-precipitated at various EG concentrations were characterized. We discuss the integrity of cross-linking hybridization, fluorescent molecule internalization, degree of leakage, and release efficiency of the resulting dNA capsules and their relevance brought by particle properties. To achieve efficient encapsulation and cargo release, the surface roughness of the CaCO3 particles was explored and was deemed a key determinant of the compactness of the dNA shell after template removal. This effect was particularly strong in CaCO3 particles in connection with high EG concentrations. The dNA capsules fabricated using 83% EG exhibited low leakage, high loading, and moderate release efficiencies as well as a greater apparent association constant with ATP due to their small particle size and the high-integrity dNA shells. © 2023 American Chemical Society.

Amidst the rapidly evolving global economic landscape, the BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) have emerged as pivotal players, particularly in the construction sector, which serves as a cornerstone for their continued growth and development. This sector’s performance not only reflects the economic health of these nations but also their capacity for sustainable urban and infrastructural expansion. This study aims to provide a comprehensive evaluative analysis of the construction industry’s efficiency across the BRICS nations using the Bounded Rationality data Envelopment Analysis (BR-dEA) model, incorporating principles from Prospect Theory. Moreover, this study also investigates the relationship between behavioral economics and operational efficiency within this sector. According to well-known prospect theory, the psychological behavioral coefficients applied in the model include the loss aversion, the gain preference, the gain curvature, and the loss curvature coefficients. Key performance indicators for the model were meticulously chosen, normalized, and derived from reputable global and national databases. The findings revealed that efficiency scores generally increased with higher gain preference coefficients across different loss aversion settings, indicating that valuing gains more positively is associated with greater efficiency. Variations were observed among the BRICS countries, suggesting that efficiency is influenced by country-specific behavioral factors. This study contributes to the literature by integrating behavioral economics into efficiency analysis and offers practical insights for policymakers and industry leaders within the BRICS nations. Limitations are acknowledged, primarily relating to data availability and the inherent complexities of behavioral modeling, which provide avenues for future research to expand upon these initial findings.

Cytometry plays a crucial role in characterizing cell properties, but its restricted optical window (400-850 nm) limits the number of stained fluorophores that can be detected simultaneously and hampers the study and utilization of short-wave infrared (SWIR;900-1700 nm) fluorophores in cells. Here we introduce two SWIR-based methods to address these limitations: SWIR flow cytometry and SWIR image cytometry. We develop a quantification protocol for deducing cellular fluorophore mass. Both systems achieve a limit of detection of ∼0.1 fg cell-1 within a 30 min experimental time frame, using individualized, high-purity (6,5) single-wall carbon nanotubes as a model fluorophore and macrophage-like RAW264.7 as a model cell line. This high-sensitivity feature reveals that low-dose (6,5) serves as an antioxidant, and cell morphology and oxidative stress dose-dependently correlate with (6,5) uptake. Our SWIR cytometry holds immediate applicability for existing SWIR fluorophores and offers a solution to the issue of spectral overlapping in conventional cytometry. © 2024 The Authors. Unbalanced walking is increasingly common among older adults;therefore, routinely assessing the balance of older adults is crucial. The traditional method of assessing balance uses scales, requires the supervision of a physical therapist (PT), and is time-consuming. The present study, therefore, proposes a deep learning (dL) model architecture that combines a convolutional neural network (CNN) and a long short-term memory (LSTM) network model to predict the scores of three scales, namely the Berg balance scale (BBS), timed up and go (TUG), and single-leg stance (SLS). The gait data of 15 m of walking were collected from seven inertial measurement units (IMUs) and input into the CNN-LSTM model for evaluation. The BBS and TUG only require the participants to wear two IMUs on the left and right thighs, respectively, for accurate predictions. The mean absolute errors (MAEs) of predicting the scores of the BBS and TUG are 1.2562 and 1.4016 s, respectively;however, the MAE of score predictions of SLS is higher than that of the BBS and TUG, indicating that gait data cannot be used for assessing SLS;moreover, participants only wear one IMU on the right calf for BBS and TUG evaluations, which yield MAEs of 1.4334 and 1.5229 s, respectively. The proposed system can quickly and accurately predict the scores of the BBS and TUG. The proposed model can assist PTs with making clinical decisions. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

developing cost-effective photoelectrodes with a low band gap in the NIR-visible regions remains a challenge to achieve effective hydrogen production. We report the details of superstrate-configured photocathodes, consisting of antimony selenide (Sb2Se3) light absorbing layers with titanium dioxide (TiO2) as a hole transport layer, exhibiting the capability for hydrogen evolution with broad range light absorption enabled by the low band gap value of ∼1.2 eV of Sb2Se3. Strong anisotropy is a significant characteristic property of Sb2Se3, allowing superior electrical transportation along the [hkl] crystallographic orientation, which is obtained via close space evaporation of presynthesized bulk material at a growth temperature of 250 °C, over the solution-processed TiO2 film on a fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) substrate. The superstrate-configured FTO/TiO2/Sb2Se3 photocathode exhibited a photocurrent density of 100 μA cm-2 at −0.3 V vs RHE in 0.5 M H2SO4 under 1 sun illumination. To further improve photocurrent density, Pt as a cocatalyst was deposited over Sb2Se3 that led to enhanced photocurrent to 3 mA cm-2 at −0.3 V vs RHE in 0.5 M H2SO4 under 1 sun illumination. despite the relatively lower photocurrent observed, which resulted due to a large conduction band offset (ΔECB = 0.99 eV) of the TiO2/Sb2Se3 interface in a superstrate configuration, a significantly lower onset potential of −0.1 V vs RHE was observed. The results are encouraging due to the low band gap of Sb2Se3, photocorrosion stability, and straightforward fabrication, which is expected to assist for significant outcomes. © 2024 American Chemical Society.
