作者: MACANDER, A THE AUTHOR:attended Fairleigh Dickinson University from which he received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1962. He is presently attending Stevens Institute of Technology where he is pursuing a graduate degree in Plastics Engineering. Since 1962 Mr. Macander has been a member of the U. S. Naval Applied Science Laboratory technical staff as a Mechanical Engineer. For the last five years he has been engaged in the development of syntactic foam systems for buoyancy and structural applications in the deep ocean as well as the development of ultrasonic nondestructive test methods for quality assurance of these foam materials. In addition Mr. Macander is responsible for the deep submergence materials exposure program in the ocean being conducted by the U. S. Naval Applied Science Laboratory. He is also a member of the Marine Technology Society.

作者: Birnbaum, L.S. Bukzin, E.A. Saroyan, J.R. Leon S. Birnbaum holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry from City College of New York. He has completed graduate work in Chemistry at the University of Maryland and Temple University and in Technology and Management at American University. He has been with the Navy Department Washington since 1949 and is currently Head of the Coatings and Chemistry Branch of the Materials Development and Application Office of the Naval Ship Engineering Center. Responsibilities of this Branch include such items as coatings corrosion control techniques insulation chemical cleaning water treatment toxicology and detection and decontamination of biological and chemical warfare agents. Prior to this Mr. Birnbaum was employed in the Industrial Test Laboratory Philadelphia Naval Shipyard from 1938 to 1949. Work during this period included supervision of a section which inspected paints and allied materials and petroleum products to determine their suitability for Naval use and direction of research in fire retardant treatments. He is a member of the American Chemical Society Washington Paint Technical Group. National Association of Corrosion Engineers and the American Society of Naval Engineers. Mr. Bukzin is a research and development program manager in the Naval Ship Systems Command of the Department of the Navy in the fields of non-metallic materials fuels lubricants cold weather operations and several other areas. He is a graduate chemical engineer from New York University with additional training in naval architecture and management which culminated in his participation in the Senior Development Program at Cornell University during the summer of 1960. He has been employed by the Command and its predecessor for the past 2b years and has been in his present position of R&D planning and programming for the past six years. Richard Hansen obtained a BSCE from Colorado State University in 1950 and has participated in continuing educational courses at the University of Washington Wayne State University and the University of Michigan. He was employed at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for five years as a Mechanical Engineer and Project leader in industrial gases and cryogenic O2. Producers for Shipboard Applications followed by seven years at Chrysler Corporation initially as a project engineer in the FBM program subsequently assigned to Mechanical Laboratory achieving Managing Engineer status of a department therein which contained the facilities group instrumentation group and an experimental machine shop. This was followed by employment at Westinghouse Astronuclear Laboratories as a senior engineer conducting studies in two phase liquid hydrogen flow in simulated NERVA cores. Following this he served two years of employment with the Lockheed Georgia Company conducting material studies in combined nuclear cryogenic environments at the NASA 60 megawatt test reactor located in Sandusky Ohio. Joined NAVSEC in 1966 as a mechanical engineer in the compressed air systems group and has been assigned to the Supervisor of Diving Salvage and Ocean Engineering conducting analysis and evaluation of compressed air and gas systems associated with diving and salvage operations. Dale G. Uhler received BSCE degree from Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1964. He spent two years as a construction engineer before entering graduate school at the University of Miami Florida where he received his MS degree in applied mechanics with a minor in Ocean Engineering in 1968. He is now employed as an Ocean Engineer in the office of the U. S. Navy Director of Diving Salvage and Ocean Engineering where he is the project manager for the Large Object Salvage System and related development programs and concurrently working toward his Ph. D. at Catholic University.

作者: HIGGINS, JA GARVEY, JJ Higgins who is the Chief Office of Advanced Development MarAd is presently responsible for those areas of research and development that have to do with developing new ship design techniques improved shipbuilding methods and systems analysis programs leading to improved marine transportation systems. He has held responsible research positions with Maritime Administration since 1956. His previous experience includes six years at the David Taylor Model Basin sea duty with the Navy during World War II and six years shipyard experience. He is a graduate of the Newport News Shipbuildings and Dry Dock Company Apprentice School has mechanical and industrial engineering degrees from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and has done graduate work in naval architecture at M. I. T. and transportation economics at American University. Garvey a CMX Project Engineer for the Maritime Administration has been with the MarAd Office of Research and Development since 1968. Prior to that he was with the Office of Ship Construction Foster Wheeler Marine Department and the U. S. Navy. He graduated from the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy with a B. S. degree in 1956 and from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1965 with an M. B. A.

作者: RESNICK, I MACANDER, A Israel Resnick attended George Washington University and the City College of New York and received a B.S. degree in Chemistry from latter in 1942. He has done graduate work at Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. From 1942 to 1948 he was with the U. S. Army Quartermaster Corps as a Supervisor of Inspectors of Chemicals and Plastics. Since 1948 he has been a member of the technical staff as a Materials Engineer at the U. S. Naval Applied Science Laboratory where he has been active in reinforced plastics and cellular plastics for more than 15 years. Since 1963 he has been Senior Task Leader on Syntactic Foam in the Plastics and Elastomers Branch of the U. S. Naval Applied Science Laboratory. He is a member of RESA (Scientific Research Society of America) and he is Chairman of Subcommittee VI on Syntactic Foam of ASTM Committee D20. Aleksander Macander attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1962. He is presently attending Stevens Institute of Technology where he is pursuing a graduate degree in Plastics Engineering. Since 1962 Mr. Macander has been a member of the U. S.
