The advancements in information and communication technologies have had a significant impact on the engineering educational system. Virtual laboratories are progressively being adopted to improve the way in which students interact with simulations for control systems. The enhancement of visualization and interaction offered by modern computers presents an opportunity to teach the theoretical foundation with a more organic approach. In addition, there are optimization algorithms that can be employed to designing controllers in an optimal way without having extensive knowledge in the area of control theory. This paper delineates the utilization of CoppeliaSim software, the Moth Flame Optimization (MFO) algorithm, and the EVA mobile robot for teaching control theory with Single-Input, Single-Output systems (SISO), for mobile robot obstacle following/avoidance application. The approach employs an online multi-language (Spanish and Portuguese) methodology for students without knowledge of control theory.

IT/OT convergence in the form of a Cyber-Physical System (CPS) presents an opportunity to apply recent Information Technology (IT) advancements to Operational Technology (OT). The IT/OT convergence introduces cyber security threats for OT. The OT communication protocols, for example, have limited or no security capabilities for securing data exchange beyond basic authentication. The RNG (Random Number Generator) function is crucial in PLC for producing the encryption keys or the initial seed for security algorithms. The software-based PRNG (Pseudo RNG) is the most common approach for RNG in OT, instead of hardware-based RNG. This study provides a systematic literature review of the most recent evidence in digital transformation to secure data exchange in smart factories, within OT, or across OT and IT settings. It does this by looking at the PRNG on PLC and identifying the most recent trends and best practices. The findings include up-to-date data on author countries' distribution, published journals, research trends, industries, and industry types. The findings also address whether data flow is encrypted or shared in plaintext to ensure secure data transfer between IT and legacy OT environments. This paper concludes that while there is known RNG implementation in the actual embedded system in ICS, there is no evidence in the literature for using RNG in ICS networks for PLC implementation to secure data transfer with encryption.

The development of detection kidney function system at the first prototype have problem with the dependence on the internet, which make not practical in the development of the system and the initial design was not ergonomic. In this work the development of the second step is done with the improvement of accuracy compared with other methods. In this work the new design of the embedded system is also applied and in term of algorithm, the system applied for woman patient. Three different types of machine learning techniques, namely K-nearest neighbors (KNN), Decision Tree and Random Forest are applied and compared. The AI-based kidney failure severity identification system with KNN algorithm had an average accuracy of 90% and 91% for training and testing accuracy, respectively. The design of the embedded system also renews with stylist, simple and practical.

A sugarcane yield of one plantation area depends on several independent variables. Practically it is challenging to predict accurately by using conventional methods. This study aims to develop a decision model based on a combination of fuzzy logic and object-oriented methods to predict sugarcane yield. The research is conducted in four main stages, employing object-oriented methods for model design and fuzzy logic for model construction. Object and activity diagrams are used for the object-oriented model design. The fuzzy membership functions employed are a combination of trapezoidal and triangular shapes. The resulting decision model can simulate 2,225 data from plantation areas in Indonesia. Based on the 10 examples of plantation area data in Indonesia, plantation number one obtained the largest sugarcane yield, which was 4.79%, with a similarity value of 0.90 (when compared to manual calculations as its ground truth). This similarity value is a higher value when compared to the average similarity value, which is 0.89.

Some of the key requirements and trends in power electronics in recent years include improving efficiency as well as providing a energy quality while using a converter with high power density and long lifetime. Following these tendencies, multilevel T-type converters have the potential to improve the efficiency and performance of power conversion systems, especially in the renewable energy industry. A new multilevel converter with split-inductors is proposed, that offers dead-time elimination, shoot-through protection, ringing suppression and improved efficiency. Since the split-inductors are always connected in series with the switches, the protection against shoot-through is achieved by regulating the circulating current, eliminating the need for dead-time. Simulation and experimental results were shown to prove the functionality of the proposed converter.

Electromagnetic nondestructive inspection for high-speed moving ferromagnetic materials is necessary for manufacturing efficiency. In this paper, we present a novel leakage magnetic flux (LMF) method to estimate the crack position in a moving cylindrical ferromagnetic rod. The method directly measures the first-order Fourier coefficients of the LMF moving with the crack by using only two coils with DC excitation. The location of a crack is estimated by the proposed method, as demonstrated for an S45C cylindrical rod.

Nowadays, industrial processes are creating increasing demands for optimized and efficient sensing systems and require high reliability and a short time interval for information delivery. This paper presents an embedded sensor system that uses the ESP-NOW protocol with a Mesh and Ad Hoc network, in order to provide an auto mesh configuration upon failure at some point in the network. This system was implemented to monitor the variables of an induction motor, after which, before sending the data to the cloud, local processing is performed to reduce the volume of data. Finally, a computer simulation of the WROOM-32 module is performed for a thermal analysis during its operation, where the heating points of the plate are identified and analyzed, in order to validate that the system, even processing a large amount of data, maintains a high reliability during its operation.
