Technology has been successfully applied in sports, where biomechanical analysis is one of the most important areas used to raise the performance of athletes. In this context, this paper focuses on swim velocity profile identification using Radial Basis Functions Neural Networks (RBF-NN) trained by the Gustafson-Kessel clustering combined with a novel Dynamic Self-adaptive Multiobjective Harmony Search (DS-MOHS). One study case is analyzed, from real data acquired of an elite female athlete, swimming breaststroke style. Better results are obtained by DS-MOHS when compared with standard multiobjective harmony search in terms of accuracy and generalization of the model.

By using biomechanical analyses applied to sports many researchers are providing important information to coaches and athletes in order to reach better performance in a shorter time. In swimming, these kinds of analyses are being used to evaluate, to detect and to improve the skills of high level athletes. Recently, evolutionary computing theories have been adopted to support swim velocity profile identification. Based on velocity profiles recognition, it is possible to identify distinct characteristics and classify swimmers according to their abilities. In this way, this work presents an application of Radial Basis Function Neural Network (RBF-NN) associated to a proposed cascaded evolutionary procedure composed by a genetic and Multiobjective Differential Evolution (MODE) algorithms as optimization method for searching the best fitness within a set of parameters to configure the RBF-NN. The main goal and novelty of the proposed approach is to enable, through the adoption of cascaded multiobjective optimization, the use of correlation based tests in order to select both the model lagged inputs and the associated parameters in a supervised fashion. Finally, the real data of a Brazilian elite female swimmer in crawl and breaststroke styles obtained into a 25 meters swimming pool have been identified by the proposed method. The soundness of the approach is illustrated with the adherence to the model validity tests and the values of the multiple correlation coefficients between 0.95 and 0.93 for two tests for both breaststroke and crawl strokes, respectively.

In this paper, a hybrid manufacturing concept is proposed using a sandwich composite roof structure and an aluminum extrusion lightweight carbody for the 550km/h high speed maglev train. This manufacturing technique has the advantage of a good productivity, maintainability and specific stiffness and strength in comparison with a train carbody made wholly of aluminum extrusion including the roof. In order to join a composite roof to an aluminum extrusion structure by welding, a sandwich composite roof panel having aluminum extrusion-plated edges is introduced. It was found that the structural integrity of the proposed hybrid carbody satisfied the requirements assessed by numerical analysis and experiments. © Civil-Comp Press, 2014.

One of the most important aspects to be considered by Distribution Centers (DCs) is the improvement of the process in relation to the attributes of the service that is provided. The purpose of this article is to analyze various alternatives for the definition of a DC with the use of a method of multi-criteria support in decision making, more specifically, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) for the allocation and weighting of importance levels for structuring DCs. To further illustrate the process, a field study was conducted in a multinational company in the food sector. This enabled the identification of the best of three possible structures that were evaluated based on the criteria and sub-criteria targeted in the decision context. The results show that the cost and quality factors are primarily responsible for choosing the most appropriate alternative. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The growth of micro, small and medium enterprises of fashion industry in Bandung is very rapidly and thus the industry has to face the growing competitiveness challenge. The implementation of ERP is considered to be a strategy to support sales growth, increase management ability, enhance marketing network and also strengthen the company competitiveness. In order to be effectively implemented to achieve the goals, the ERP modules requirements are necessary to be identified based on the business process in the micro, small and medium enterprises of fashion Industry. This research is conducted using case study method in eight micro, small and medium fashion enterprises in Bandung. As the references, the business process from Process Classification Framework from American Productivity Quality Centre (PCF-APQC) for Consumer Product, PCF-APQC for Retail, and business process from the previous research are used. While the ERP used as the benchmark is the integration of SAP Apparel and Footwear Solution and SAP Retail as one of the best available technology. The result advices that functionally, the ERP system for micro, small and medium fashion enterprises needs to include product design and development modules, product marketing and selling, procurement and production, human resources management, retail shop management, and finance and accounting modules. For fashion enterprises with different size, it tends to require different level of completeness of ERP module components. The bigger the size of the fashion enterprise, it needs more complete module components based on the main and additional business processes. Whilst, for nonfunctional demand, the micro, small and medium fashion industry desires ERP with the affordable price, having the drill down ability to display data related to production and selling based on the season/collection, able to do product categorization based on the various grouping criteria, the easily understood user interface, and also practical and

Fiber metal laminates (FMLs) consisting of FRP composites and thin metal foils are gathering attention as structural materials for aircrafts. However, it is difficult to apply the conventional ultrasonic method to detect the inside damages because of the total reflection at the first interface between the FRP and the metal. Recently, the authors have developed a new delamination detection method based on the mode conversion of Lamb waves. In this research, therefore, this method was applied to detect the inner delamination in the FML. MFC actuators and FBG sensors were bonded to both top and bottom surfaces of the laminate in order to excite or receive only A modes or S modes separately. The laminates with an artificial delamination were manufactured by embedment of Teflon films in the middle of the thickness, and Lamb waves were propagated through the delaminated area. The results indicated that excited A1 mode was converted into S0 mode in the delaminated area and it returned to A1 mode again after passing through the delamination. Since the velocity dispersion is clearly different between the two modes, the delamination length could be estimated quantitatively from the change in the dispersion of received A1 mode. Background: The sustainable development goals (SDGs) aim to end HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Understanding the current state of the HIV epidemic and its change over time is essential to this effort. This study assesses the current sex-specific HIV burden in 204 countries and territories and measures progress in the control of the epidemic. Methods: To estimate age-specific and sex-specific trends in 48 of 204 countries, we extended the Estimation and Projection Package Age-Sex Model to also implement the spectrum paediatric model. We used this model in cases where age and sex specific HIV-seroprevalence surveys and antenatal care-clinic sentinel surveillance data were available. For the remaining 156 of 204 locations, we developed a cohort-incidence bias adjustment to derive incidence as a function of cause-of-death data from vital registration systems. The incidence was input to a custom Spectrum model. To assess progress, we measured the percentage change in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 (threshold >75% decline), the ratio of incident cases to number of people living with HIV (incidence-to-prevalence ratio threshold <0·03), and the ratio of incident cases to deaths (incidence-to-mortality ratio threshold <1·0). Findings: In 2019, there were 36·8 million (95% uncertainty interval [UI] 35·1–38·9) people living with HIV worldwide. There were 0·84 males (95% UI 0·78–0·91) per female living with HIV in 2019, 0·99 male infections (0·91–1·10) for every female infection, and 1·02 male deaths (0·95–1·10) per female death. Global progress in incident cases and deaths between 2010 and 2019 was driven by sub-Saharan Africa (with a 28·52% decrease in incident cases, 95% UI 19·58–35·43, and a 39·66% decrease in deaths, 36·49–42·36). Elsewhere, the incidence remained stable or increased, whereas deaths generally decreased. An multistage approach is proposed merging a deterministic and evolutionary algorithm for PI controller tuning. This technique is formulated through design of a multi-objective optimization procedure, to ensure the construction of Pareto frontier that guarantee well distribution and exclude the non-Pareto and local Pareto points. This procedure focuses on reliability-based optimization instances. To validate the approach, we will consider the Boiler Control Benchmark. The results of its usefulness for controller tuning is demonstrated.

This paper is focused on the numerical simulation of a new technology of small size iron ore sintering machine using gaseous fuel and oxygen injections to produce high quality of sinter product for the blast furnace operation. The proposed methodology is to partially replace the solid fuel(coke breeze) by steelworks gases in a compact machine to enhance heat and mass transfer. A multiphase mathematical model based on transport equations of momentum, energy and chemical species coupled with chemical reaction rates and phase transformations is proposed to analyze the inner process parameters. A base case representing a possible actual industrial operation of the sintering machine is used in order to compare different scenarios of possible operations which represents advanced operations techniques. The model was used to predict four cases of fuel gas utilization: a) 3% of the wind boxes inflow from N01-N10 wind boxes of natural gas(NG) and oxygen, b) same condition with coke oven gas(COG) and c) mixture of 80% COG and 20% blast furnace gas(BFG). The model predictions indicated that for all cases, the sintering zone is enlarged and the solid fuel consumption is decreased about 12kg/t of sinter product for the best combination. In order to maximize the steelworks gas utilization it is recommended the use of mixture of COG and BFG with optimum inner temperature distribution within a compact sintering machine, which enhance the productivity and obviously, decrease the investment cost of the sintering facilities.
