In this paper a new technology for a compact iron ore sintering machine is *** compact sintering process is based on the massive injection of gaseous fuels and the solid fuel is only agglomerated fine charcoal obtained by *** solid fuel used in this study is obtained by agglomeration of fine charcoal produced from elephant glass which has very short period for production and CO capture（less than 6 months in tropical climate）.To overcome the lower heat supply into the combustion front of the sintering process the simultaneous injection of oxygen and gaseous fuel is *** proposed methodology is to combine the solid fuel（agglomerated fines charcoal） and steelworks gases in a compact machine to enhance heat and mass transfer with high productivity（about 5 times the conventional large machine）.A multiphase mathematical model based on transport equations of momentum,energy and chemical species coupled with chemical reaction rates and phase transformations is used to analyze the inner process parameters.A base case representing a possible actual industrial operation of the sintering machine is used in order to compare different scenarios of practicable operations which represents advanced operations *** model was used to predict six cases of combined operation with biomass and fuel gas utilization:a)Scenario 01 and 02:Wind boxes inflow from N01-N10 of rich mixture of natural gas（NG） +Air+O,b) Scenario 03 and 04:Wind boxes inflow from N01-N10 of rich mixture of coke oven gas（COG）+Air +O,c) Scenario 05 and 06:Wind boxes inflow from N01-N10 of mixture of COG+BFG+Air+*** model predictions indicated that for all cases,the sintering zone is enlarged and the solid fuel consumption is *** order to maximize the steelworks gas utilization it is recommended the use of mixture of COG and BFG with optimum inner temperature distribution within a compact sintering machine（in this study was the scenario 05）,which enhance the productivity keep

Numerical Analysis of Flow in Ultra Micro Centrifugal Compressor -Influence of Meridional Configuration

A single stage ultra micro centrifugal compressor constituting ultra micro gas turbine is required to operate at high rotational speed in order to achieve the pressure ratio which establishes the gas turbine cycle. As a conse- quence, the aerodynamic losses can be increased by the interaction of a shock wave with the boundary layer on the blade surface. Moreover, the centrifugal force which exceeds the allowable s^ress of the impeller material can act on the root of blades. On the other hand, the restrictions of processing technology for the downsizing of im- peller not only relatively enlarge the size of tip clearance but also make it difficult to shape the impeller with the i three-dimensional blade. Therefore, it is important to establish the design technology for the impeller with the two-dimensional blade which possesses the sufficient aerodynamic performance and enough strength to bear the centrifugal force caused by the high rotational speed. In this study, the flow in two types of impeller with the two-dimensional blade which have different meridional configuration was analyzed numerically, The computed results clarified the influence of the meridional configuration on the loss generations in the impeller passage.

In recent years quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicles are being used in various different studies. A regular quadrotor has fixed rotors. This inability to tilt its rotors lead to limited success in trajectory tracking due to controlling 6 DOF systems only with 4 input parameters. There are some studies on tilt rotor and tilt-roll rotor quadrotors that can compensate for versatile conditions. Some of these proposed quadrotors are able to hover and position hold at user defined desired angles unlike regular quadrotors. This study presents the design and control of a novel quadrotor system that can tilt its rotors independently so that it can adaptively update its rotor angles and speeds to compensate for more chaotic and realistic scenarios. After deriving the mathematical model, the designed control algorithms are explained by comparing with the latter studies' abilities. Proposed quadrotor with adaptive control is compared with regular and non-adaptive tilt-roll rotor type multicopters, in various simulations. The results show that the proposed design has clear advantages in certain situations, especially when environmental limitations and hardware inconsistencies and inefficiencies exist.

A way to deal with the variations in the link quality of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is the use of strategies for Dynamic Channel Allocation (DCA). The first step to perform DCA is estimating the channel quality, so that the network nodes can decide if a channel change is needed, and the best channel to be used. This paper proposes a distributed approach with nodes dedicated to monitor channel quality, by using the Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) and the Link Quality Indicator (LQI) to identify low quality channels. This approach is acceptable in industrial WSN, since the network deployment can be performed with adequate planning. Furthermore, the sensor nodes do not need to stop their operation for monitoring the channel quality. As a first step, experiments were performed in a real industrial environment to identify the relation between RSSI and LQI traces, and the Packet Error Rate for different channels, by using IEEE 802.15.4 radios operating in the 2.4 GHz band. © 2014 IEEE.

Considering that technical skill is the major determinant characteristic of success among competitive swimmers, it is important to coaches to quantify the differences that make one swimmer more efficient than another. One of the most important grants in swimming is the velocity, which can be related to drag forces and provide substantial information about the swimmer technique. The main purpose of this study was to determine the best model to compare swimmers in terms of velocity. In this work, a Radial Basis Function Neural Network (RBF-NN) was used to model the nonlinearity of swim velocity time series. The RBF-NN parameters were adjusted by using four multiobjective optimization methods. The best results in terms of RBF-NN configuration were obtained by the Differential Evolution based algorithms.

Many professional or daily activities demand load displacement by human arms or by human powered vehicles. Those activities may cause muscle-skeleton diseases even in load carrying professionals as in people carrying their daily objects. In the field of robotics, the research developments to help people at those activities are made through human-robot cooperation systems actuated by servo drives. Due to the cost of those drives, many people are not able to acquire the robots and so they are prohibited from getting the associated health benefits. To promote robot-aided solutions, this paper presents the design and implementation of a load carrier human-robot cooperation system, which is built through an electrical load cart and driven by frequency inverter and induction motor. The robot controller is implemented by a force regulation structure which allows the conductor to set the mechanical trajectories through the multiplication of the force applied by his/her arms. Since the arms have a higher positioning bandwidth than the conductor's legs, the controller dynamic response is tuned with human leg dynamics in mind, so as to increase the operational safety. The paper presents details of mounting, firmware design and measurements to show the robot performance.

The paper compared the performances of adsorption refrigeration/heat pump systems between the silica gel-water and the activated carbon-ethaonol as adsorbent-adsorbate combinations. The system performance was predicted in a wide range of heat source/sink by simulation. The adsorption isotherm and kinetics of the silica gel-water pair were taken from the literature, and those of the activated carbon-ethanol pair were measured by our group. The results revealed the suitable range for each combination for the application of space cooling, space heating, and hot water production.

The necessity to efficiently balance and re-allocate system resources among hospitals in a hospital network is paramount, especially as health systems experience increasing demand and costs for health services. In this paper, we proffer a resource allocation-based optimization model that adjusts resources (system inputs) automatically, which provides decision makers (such as health care managers and policy-makers) with a decision-support tool for re-allocating resources in large health systems that are centrally controlled and funded, such as the Military Health System. In these systems, inputs are fixed at certain levels and may only be adjusted within medical treatment facilities, while outputs must be maintained. We provide a mathematical formulation and example solutions from a case study using real-world data from sixteen U.S. Army hospitals. We also find utility in the use of multi-start evolutionary algorithms to store multiple optimal solutions for consideration by decision makers. © 2014 "IIE".

Path planning of mechanical polishing process for freeform surface with a small polishing tool

Products with freeform surface are widely applied in industries, and the surface quality plays an important role in order to fulfill the targeted functions. As polishing path of small polishing tool affects the polishing removal function considerably, it is highly necessary to study the polishing path of freeform surface for obtaining good polishing efficiency and well-proportioned surface quality. By combining the Preston polishing removal function, the material removal model of small polishing tool under the control of constant polishing force and pressure is established. Based on this model, the material removal functions of scan line, Archimedean spiral, and Hilbert fractal polishing path are derived. The simulation results show that the Hilbert fractal polishing path has the best comprehensive performance. By using the projection relation of differential geometry, the optimal path generation algorithm of the Bézier surface based on Hilbert fractal polishing path is established. The polishing experiments are conducted on a self-developed polishing machine which is based on a parallel manipulator. The experimental results demonstrate that the surface roughness is improved from level 9 to level 11.
