Sweet potato contains significant amount of endogenous amylase enzymes. The endogenous enzymes can be used in maltose production from sweet potatoes to carry out pre-hydrolysis of the starch to some extent, follow by complete hydrolysis using external enzymes. The main objective of the current study is to investigate the effect of particle size and solid to liquid ratio in hydrolysis process of sweet potato starch using endogenous enzymes. The extent of hydrolysis process is measured by dextrose equivalent of the crude maltose solution. Hydrolysis process consists of liquefaction and saccharification process. The liquefaction process is carried out at 71.5°C and pH 6 for 25 minutes while saccharification process is carried out at 53°C and pH 5,5 for 72 hours. Dextrose equivalent is measured using Lane-Eynon method. The results show that the access of enzyme to the potato tubers is the key to hydrolysis process. The smaller size of tubers gives bigger surface area while lower solid-to-liquid ratio increases enzyme mobility but decreases sugar concentration. Base on the results, a simulation shows that the pre-hydrolysis of sweet potatoes using endogenous enzymes can save almost a half of enzymes required for traditional hydrolysis process.

Halal is currently becoming an important factor when consuming products, especially food products. For food manufacturers, being halal-certified will improve their operational and financial performance. Unfortunately, not every food manufacturers, especially food manufacturing Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs), are ready to apply the halal standard as stated in Halal Assurance System (HAS) document 23000. Therefore, it is required to design an easy-to-use but comprehensive self-assessment model to evaluate the readiness of SMEs in fulfilling HAS 23000. This paper aims to develop a measurement model of halal practice readiness of food manufacturing SMEs. The measurement model was designed based on 11 criteria of HAS 23000. The 11 criteria are grouped into four dimensions, namely technology, human resource, information, and organization. The proposed readiness assessment model covers two aspects, (i) performance, which is obtained from the halal readiness assessment, and (ii) importance of each halal dimensions which is obtained from expert judgment. The performance and importance value then analyzed using Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA). To describe the applicability of the model, the model was then applied to empirically assess the food manufacturing SMEs readiness through a case study. The result showed that the SME is not ready to implement the halal standard. The output from IPA suggests that firstly the SME must concentrate on the dimension of human resource. This measurement instrument can be used by food manufacturing SMEs as a self-assessment tool prior to and during halal practice implementation. Based on the self-assessment, the SME managers can evaluate their strength and weaknesses regarding HAS 23000 implementation in their organization.

This investigative research aims to convert urban non-organic waste fuels such as plastic waste into energy using fixed bed pyrolysis technology. Pyrolysis fixed bed (PFB) is one of the most efficient technologies for converting various types of undegradable solid waste into thermal energy and liquid fuels with high efficiency. The study was conducted on a lab-scale PFB reactor with dimensions of 15 cm and 55 cm in diameter and bed height respectively. The reactor is equipped with a cooling and decomposition system to accommodate liquid and gas products. Reactor temperature variations using an external heater were tested and quartz sands were selected as a bed material to improve the temperature function of the PFB reactor so as the maximum quality and quantity of liquid product were obtained. The fuel properties of the derived oil were tested including their physical properties, calorific value, elemental measurement (CHNOS) analysis. The results of the study showed that the increase in temperature resulted in an increased pyrolysis performance which was indicated by the increased volume and liquid caloric value.

Data mining is a technique of extracting information that has not been known before in a collection of data in the database. Data mining has been applied in various fields that require extracting information, some of the work that can be generated with data mining is classification, prediction, and data grouping. In this study, an analysis of village data collection was carried out to explore the potential or knowledge of the data that has been presented with the main objective of producing a grouping of village status. To support clustering or grouping activities the K-means algorithm used with the general process is to carry out the modeling process without supervision and is one of the methods for grouping data with a system partition, with the principle of allocating each data to the centroid or the closest average, work steps conducted in support of this research is to collect data related to the analysis of data grouping and proceed with the calculation process in accordance with the work steps of the K-means algorithm, the amount of data used as a test of 303 villages scattered in the old Padang regency. The results of calculations by displaying a new group of Cluster 0 is occupied by 120 villages, cluster 1 with a total data of 123 villages, Cluster 2 with a total of 6 villages, cluster 3 with a total of 33 villages while cluster 4 with a total of 21.

The objective of the research was to analyze the clustering method by optimizing Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) in the case of measles immunization for children under the age of 5. The research data source used is the North Sumatra Province Central Bureau of Statistics (https://***/). The data used in 2019 included 33 records with variables BCG, DPT-HB3/DPT-HB/Hib3, CAMPAK (MEASLES + RUBELLA), POLIO 4 and HEPATITIS B. The methods used were k-medoids and PSOs. This method is used to determine the value of the Davies Bouldin Index (DBI) before the cluster value is determined (k). The resulting k values were compared to k-medoids without PSO. The best results of k-medoid and PSO will be tested by classification to see the accuracy value of the cluster formed. The results showed that the optimization of k-medoids and PSO was better with the number of clusters (k = 5) than 0.078. (DBI). The results also show that the accuracy of the cluster formed is 95% with a correlation of 0.98.

This research was conducted by conducting an experiment on STMIK Neumann Medan student data. In this study, it was concluded that Decision Tree performance is better than SSVM, Decision Tree gets very good results that promise to help find the best students to get scholarships. Kampung kota is a type of Indonesian residential that is occupied by a large portion of urban dwellers. According to Pauline (1993) Kampung kota is still considered to have a social interaction habit as mutual assistance among the residences called gotong royong [1]. Despite the effort to plan the formal residential area, most kampung kota is categorized as slum and squatter areas. There are a lot of improvement programs initiated by the government to create a better kampung kota. One of the programs in Surakarta is located in neighborhood one (RW 1), Pasar Kliwon District. The residents were given temporary living space in kampung sub-communal RISHA Mojo before they were moved into the new area of Kampung Metal in Semanggi sub-district. Kampung Sub-Communal RHISA Mojo in Surakarta is a temporary housing area provided by the government to support the kampung improvement program in the residents' old area. Living in communal housing is not directly being guaranteed with decent hygiene environment. When the COVID-19 pandemic occurred in 2020, the residents were dealing with hygiene issues. Spot welding is one system of connecting to steel materials or other materials that make up sheets. The welding time and electrode diameter are the factors that determine the formation of welding nuggets. This study was conducted to analyze the effect of welding time and electrode diameter on the joint strength of the S45C steel plate with a thickness of 1 mm. The welding process takes place with variations in welding time lasting 1 second, 1.5 seconds, 2 seconds, 2.5 seconds, 3 seconds, and variations in the electrode diameter of 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm. The results of welding are then carried out a tensile test to determine the strength of the formed nugget. From the data obtained, an analysis is performed. The highest output voltage analysis result of a 6 mm electrode diameter is 0.92 V with a welding time of 1.5 seconds, 8 mm electrode diameter is 0.9 Volt with 2 seconds welding time and a 10 mm electrode diameter is 0.98 Volt with welding time 1 second. The results of the highest electric power analysis of the 6 mm electrode diameter were 9655.12 Watt with 3 seconds welding time, 8 mm electrode diameter was 9227.66 Watt with 3 seconds welding time, and 10 mm electrode diameter was 9260.64 Watt with 3 seconds welding time.
