Processing of metal wastes for high damping metal composite

The material of aluminum and the gray cast iron are widely used, so that also produce a large scale of waste from the manufacturing processes. In relation with supporting the global program of sustainable recycling-oriented society, the waste of aluminium and gray cast iron chips will be utilized in this research to become a valuable, functional and useful material. The waste of gray cast iron chips and aluminum chips were used in this research. Three compositions were provided in this research namely, composition of Al chips with addition 0, 20, and 40 vol.% of gray cast iron chips. The process was initiated by compacting the chips to become a billet with 70 mm length and 60 mm in diameter. The hot extrusion was carried out at 400°C with pressure at 500 Ton. The lubricant that was used at the die was MoS 2 , mean while the graphite colloid was utilized as lubricant at main cylinder of extrusion. Final diameter of the product was 15 mm. The process then was continued with swaging the specimens. The process of swaging was done following 3 steps in room temperature, initiated by swaging from 15 mm to become 14 mm, continued by swaging until reach 12.5 mm and finally by swaging the specimen until reach 11 mm in diameter. The hammering vibration test then was carried out to obtain the damping capacity of the specimen with length of the specimen at 150 mm and 11 mm in diameter. For specimen with composition 0% gray cast iron, the value of damping capacity (α) is found 45[s -1 ]. For specimen with composition 20% gray cast iron, the value of damping capacity is found 61 [s -1 ]. The damping capacity for the specimen with composition 40% gray cast iron is found very hight that reach up to 90 [s -1 ]

Kerambitan District is one of the pioneers of tourism that has contributed to raising the name of Bali in the international community. However, so far the planning and implementation of tourism activities have not accommodated the integrated tourism aspects and disaster-safe tourism services. In fact, most tourist destinations in Kerambitan are dominated by natural tourism with hilly contours, which are included in areas prone to extreme weather disasters and areas prone to flooding and landslides during high-intensity rainfall. This study aims to build an early warning system based on digital application, to help create a disaster-safe tourist village. The Waterfall Method is used in development process. This application is Android-based, and integrating the Google Firebase Cloud Messaging feature for sending messages and notifications to various Android devices. The results of this study are an SIGADis E-tourism application, which in addition to display and promote tourist location information in Kerambitan, also has safe and disaster-responsive features including the early warning system feature through messages and notifications, information list of disasters that have occurred, disaster’s distribution map and the weather information each tourist location that combined with Balinese lunar calendar (Sasih). Based on the application testing results using BlackBox Testing and Beta Testing methods, the application has been running according to the desired function, able to provide information about tourism village in Kerambitam, also provide disaster messages and notifications to various android devices, and able to display disaster distribution maps and suggestions related to the disasters when bad weather or events occur.

Gejayan intersection is located in Sleman Regency of Yogyakarta. Fly Over will be constructed at the intersection in the ring road of Yogyakarta. The nearest intersection to the east is Gejayan Intersection with a distance of 1573.11 meters. Gejayan intersection performance in 2018 has reached saturation by having Level of Service E. The more severe conditions will occur in the next 10-20 years. If it is planned using Fly Over on the ring road in Yogyakarta connecting Gejayan intersection, the vehicles flow must have other alternative by road widening. The most important step is to predict the Vehicle Operating Costs (VOC). After the Fly Over operation, VOC can be calculated to determine the cost saving. The scenario to predict VOC was 80% of vehicle volume would pass the Fly Over, and the 20% would still use the existing road. The results showed that the cost saving of Vehicle Operating Costs (VOC) of the existing road compared to the fly over use in 2019 was IDR 37,941,324,952. In 2039 the saving would be IDR 240,232,694,488. If the road was only widened, the cost saving of VOC in 2019 would be IDR 9,084,204923 and in 2039 would be IDR 72,107,188,198. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Along with technological improvements, online shopping is currently developing quickly. Online shops started by selling electronics, clothing, food, and home appliances and continue to evolve, selling various things. Currently, digital marketing has a novel technique, namely live shopping, where sellers can present, promote and offer their products directly through live streaming on social media and e-commerce platforms. This research will focus on gaining insight into the factors influencing customers to watch and purchase through live streaming. This research is an early-stage study of exploring and searching for research models. The study used a literature review approach by reviewing similar previous research articles. Several variable components were used in this study. The findings of the factors include visibility capacity, meta-vocation capacity, purchase orientation capacity, social presence, price, perceived product quality, perceived enjoyment, purchase orientation, perceived usefulness, and intention to buy. These factors were tested and proved to be valid with Cronbach's Alpha value being more than 0.5 and reliable with the value of the loading factor a greater than 0.6. Criteria The factors of the findings for further analysis of the relationship between factors and other variables.

Nano-fillers integrated into mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) present promising alternatives for organic solvent nanofiltration (OSN). In this work, our objective is to enhance OSN performance by incorporating terephthalate metal-organic frameworks (M-BDC, where M = Zr or Cu) into a P84 matrix to fabricate M-BDC/P84 composite MMMs. This work focuses on the influence of metal cluster variation on particle size, pore size distribution, and specific surface area of M-BDC, while systematically investigating the impact of M-BDC addition on OSN performance and underlying separation mechanisms. The synthesized membranes underwent comprehensive characterization using SEM, XRD, ATR-FTIR, contact angle, zeta potential, and thermogravimetric analysis. Significantly, all MMMs exhibited superior permeance and methyl blue (MB) rejection compared to P84 membranes. This enhancement is attributed to the improved interfacial contact between M-BDC and P84, as well as their effective dispersion within the membrane matrix. Interestingly, comparative analysis between Cu-BDC/P84 and Zr-BDC/P84 MMMs revealed the latter's superior permeance, attributed to its larger pore size and surface area. The resulting MMMs demonstrated outstanding MB rejection (>96.7%) with ethanol permeance of 21.5 and 19.0 LMH/Bar for Zr-BDC/P84 and Cu-BDC/P84 MMMs, respectively. Furthermore, the stable performance of M-BDC-based MMMs during prolonged MB/ethanol operation underscores their potential significance in the field of OSN, providing valuable insights for future membrane design and application. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.

Biodegradable foam production process based on extracted cellulose of empty palm oil fruit bunch and chitosan for food packaging

The need for food packaging increases along with population and economic growth in Indonesia. Styrofoam is one of the food packaging that humans need because it is practical, lightweight, inexpensive, water-resistant, and has good heat and cold resistance. However, styrofoam negatively impacts health and the environment because styrofoam contains harmful chemicals such as styrene. Styrofoam destruction through burning can cause air pollution because the combustion results in dioxin gas which can interfere with human respiration. One of the solutions to reduce the negative impact of Styrofoam is the utilization of biomass as a raw ingredient used in the production of biodegradable foam. In 2019, palm oil production in Indonesia reached 48.42 million tons/year, 26% of which were empty palm oil fruit bunches (EFB). The cellulose content in EFB is high enough to be used for various applications. One of the applications of EFB is the raw material in producing biodegradable foam, an alternative to eco-friendly packaging to replace Styrofoam. Oil palm empty fruit bunches contain 84% -cellulose. This shows that the cellulose of EFB has excellent potential as one of the raw materials for producing biodegradable foam. In addition to EFB, the raw materials include starch, chitosan, magnesium stearate, polyvinyl alcohol, and distilled water. Production of biodegradable foam with a size of 19 cm x 13 cm x 0.3 cm requires 1.5-6 grams of cellulose or 11-44 grams of fresh EFB. Currently, biodegradable foam still has bad characteristics, so it is necessary to add additives to enhance the properties of biodegradable foam. This study examines the effects of chitosan on tensile strength, water absorption, biodegradability, density, and melting point of biodegradable foam. The production of biodegradable foam in this study used the thermopressing method at operating conditions of 120°C for 2.5 minutes. The most optimum results in this study obtained a tensile strength value of 3.79 MPa,

Learning in vocational schools is not enough just teacher-centered because the material presented does not only cover cognitive aspects, but also the affective and psychomotor aspects. In fact, there are still many teachers who use conventional modes, including learning technical drawings, so that student learning outcomes are low. The purpose of this research was to determine the learning outcomes of the PjBL model using real object media better than conventional methods in technical drawing subjects. A quasi-experiment was used in research with a nonequivalent control group design. The study population was 42 students of class X TP. The sampling technique uses cluster sampling. Class X TP1 as a control class with 23 students and Class X TP2 as an experimental class with 19 students. Data collection techniques using test techniques. The research instrument was a test sheet. The data analysis used t-test analysis with prerequisite tests, namely the normality test and homogeneity test. Based on testing the hypothesis test, it was concluded that the PjBL model with real objects gives better learning outcomes compared to conventional methods of learning outcomes of technical drawings. © 2020 Institute of Physics Publishing. Many industrial and engineering problems are transformed into optimization problems and solved using various numerical based methods. One of the frequently used method is the Steepest descent algorithm which converge to the solution in only one iteration, given the current point and provided the quadratic function is positive definite. However, this method is not suitable for large scale functions because of lack of gradient information and high computational cost. This study aims to suggest a new conjugate gradient algorithm for motion control of robotic manipulators and unconstrained optimization models. The convergence result of the new algorithm would be discussed under some suitable conditions. Computational simulations are carried out on the discrete-time kinematics equation of a two-joint planar robot manipulator to illustrates the efficiency of the algorithm. The algorithm was further extended to unconstrained optimization problems in addition to motion control of robotic manipulators. Preliminary results prove that the new algorithm is efficient compared to the existing CG algorithm. The preparation method of cellulose films plays a vital role in their properties. This work aims to characterize 2, 2, 6, 6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO)-oxidized bacterial cellulose powder (TOBCP) films prepared with three different methods (casting, boiling-casting, and boiling-vacuum). It is found that film by casting (CT film) shows the best electrical properties. A light-emitting diode (LED) in a direct current circuit connected to the CT film glows the most brightly. However, this film had lower tensile strength and thermal stability than films from boiling and boiling-vacuum techniques. The boiling-vacuum film presents the most compact fiber structure and the highest tensile and thermal properties. This film also shows the lowest electrical properties and the dimmest LED light. These results demonstrate the TOBCP properties from different methods that can be used to prepare film with desirable properties. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Transportation of mango (Mangifera indica) is a significant challenge in a large archipelago country like Indonesia. This study addresses the quality assurance problem of long-distance transportation of mangoes from Java Island, Indonesia, and recommends the optimal harvest age for different transportation schemes in the Indonesian mango supply chain. The study investigated harvested mangoes at three different maturity levels and evaluated their quality characteristics, including climacteric peak and respiration rate, total soluble solids, acidity, firmness, dry matter concentration, and weight loss. Samples were kept in their respective packaging during storage to imitate transportation conditions, and an Internet of Things (IoT)-based system was used for real-time monitoring and remote access to the storage conditions information. Long-distance transportation cases of six destinations with different distances, modes of transportation, travel durations, and environmental conditions were studied. Mango harvested at 105 and 108 days after flowering is suitable for consumption, while the harvest age of 90-95 days after flowering is recommended for longer transportation durations involving non-refrigerated and refrigerated vehicles. The harvest age of 105 days after flowering is appropriate for long-distance transportation with non-refrigerated vehicles, while 108 days after flowering is only recommended for inter-province transportation with non-refrigerated vehicles with a short duration of transportation. The results emphasize the importance of determining the optimal harvest time based on the climacteric peak and quality changes during storage to ensure that mangoes meet consumer demands and maximize their quality and shelf life. © 2023, The Authors.
