Land suitability analyze for cocoa development based on square root

Indonesia is the world's third-largest cocoa producer and exporter after Ghana and Pantai Gading. Cocoa is in great demand by people in various parts of the world because Cocoa can be processed into chocolate in food and drinks that benefit the community. One approach that is often used to evaluate cocoa land suitability is a parametric approach with a square root. The square root is part of the parametric approach in evaluating land suitability by assigning a value at a different limiting level to the nature of the land. On a standard scale, it is given a maximum weight of 100 to a minimum value of 0 then the land suitability class calculation is based on the square root. The stages of this research are: 1) Collecting secondary data and basic maps such as climate data, administrative maps, geological maps, soil type maps, and land use maps, 2) Making maps of land units 3) Preliminary surveys, 4) Sampling and analysis of soil samples in the laboratory, 5) analysis of the land and climate suitability, 5) Determination of actual and potential land suitability. The method used in this research is a parametric approach (Square root by Khiddir). The results showed that the parametric method's land suitability class (square root) was N1 (not suitable at present) at the observation points of profiles 1, 3, and 5. In contrast, the S3 land suitability class was found in profile 4. Limiting factors such as annual temperature, slope, soil depth, and coarse fragments are limiting factors that are difficult to repair. Base saturation and pH H2O with liming, or addition of organics.

Campus parking II characteristics analysis at Toraja Christian University in Indonesia

The need for parking space would grow in tandem with the number of students, employees, and lecturers, particularly at the Indonesian Christian University Toraja’s Campus II, but owing to poor parking management, vehicles parked in the approved parking area may have problems. Students who use irregular parking areas, which occurs because the parking lot or unit that has not been created only provides a parking area, the second problem is parking alley lanes that are not per the needs, the alley is still very narrow and does not have this free space, which causes problems for vehicles going in and out of the campus II of the Indonesian Christian University Toraja. The parking characteristics method was used to examine this data; nevertheless, the parking characteristics method is still broken down into various sections, including parking accumulation, parking volume, parking index, number of parking users, and parking availability. Parking accumulation to determine the maximum accumulation during the research period, parking volume to determine the volume of parking capacity to determine whether the parking area can still accommodate vehicles or not, and parking index to determine the percentage of comparison between total vehicles at a given time interval and the volume of available parking spaces. The availability of parking is determined by the number of parking cells available in one area or parking lot each hour, whereas the level of parking usage is determined by the number of parking users that occur in one parking plot per hour. The analysis found that the parking area and basement on campus II of the Indonesian Christian University Toraja have 1151 parking space units (SRP) for two-wheelers and 28 SRP for fourwheelers, with a maximum number of parking vehicles for two-wheeled vehicles of 893 units with a parking index of 77, 59 percent and maximum parking of 21 units for four-wheeled vehicles with a parking index of 75 percent, indicating that the parking ar

Corona Virus Disease 2019 or known as COVID-19 disseminated Indonesia in March 2020. The presence of this virus leads to fear and worry, all work activities are carried out from home. This is also perceived by the Public Elementary School number 189 Pekanbaru (SDN 189), particularly in the subject Budaya Melayu Riau (BMR) or Riau Malay Culture. BMR is a subject on heritage that characterizes Riau Malay culture; it has material evidence objects which are the results of human cultural history, nature and the environment are notable to be preserved. The problem faced by SDN 189 is that the level of students' comprehension towards BMR subject is diminished during COVID-19. The solution offered in solving this problem is to create fun learning technology through online learning using Android-based Augmented Reality (AR). AR is a type of interactive technology combines actual and virtual objects to produce 3D objects that are real in life. Therefore, the ultimate goal of this research is to intensify the knowledge and teacher’s skills in teaching and enhance students' understanding of BMR subjects.

Almost all farmers are unaware that rice straw and paunch manure are potential feedstocks for bioethanol besides organic fertilizer, biochar, and biogas. Farmers' perceptions regarding the multiattributes of bioethanol development are still underestimated, indicating that farmers are still indecisive about the potential use of rice straw and paunch manure as feedstock for bioethanol. They still need extension and training to improve their knowledge. The Location Quotient (LQ) value of rice straw and cattle paunch manure is > 1, indicating that Karanganyar Regency could become a base for bioethanol development from rice straw and cattle paunch manure. © 2024 The Authors

Wear of cylinder liner due to friction load of piston ring with various surface temperature

Wear on the cylinder liner as a combustion chamber is generally because of frictional loads by the piston rings. In addition, high temperatures that occur in the combustion chamber may accelerate the wear of the cylinder liner and shorten the service life of the cylinder liner. In this work, the wear test will be carried out on the cylinder liner of a diesel engine due to the friction load by the piston ring with various temperatures of the contact surface between the cylinder liner and the piston ring. The wear test is carried out on a linear reciprocating pin-on-plate wear test machine with the temperature of the contact surface varied from room temperature of 30 to 400°C. The results show the wear rate of the cylinder liner increases with increasing surface temperatures progressively. The wear mechanism occurs possibly by abrasive or adhesion wear and oxidation wear.

This study examines the compressive strength and water absorption of sugarcane bagasse ash, an ingredient in the manufacture of paving blocks. The technique employed was lab experiment printouts that were 20 10 8 cm in size. In this investigation, the addition variations consisted of 2.5%, 5.0%, 7.5%, 10.0%. In this investigation, test ages of 3, 7, 14, 21, and 28 days were used, using a cement to sands ratio of 1:4. Using SNI-03-0691-1996 with reference to paving blocks. According to an analysis of the compressive strength test results at 28 days, the addition of 2.5% bagasse ash of 23.64 MPa produced the highest compressive strength, and the addition of 7.5% bagasse ash with of 18.43 MPa produced the lowest compressive strength. The test specimens with the addition of 10% bagasse ash showed the highest water absorption in the 28-days of 6.57%; in contrast, the test specimens with the addition of 2.5% bagasse ash showed the lowest water absorption of 3.27%. Any variation of the mixture that has samples that are 28 days and have a water absorption value of up to 6% meets the requirements of SNI-03-0691-1996 paving block quality B.

In order to sustain the construction of a building, soil stability is crucial. In this study, clay soil had waterglass and limestone added to it. Given the current state of the soil, the researchers attempted to improve it by adding an activator, specifically limestone and waterglass, as an addition. This study will keep track of the soil’s compressive strength after it has been activated with waterglass and limestone. The waterglass variation is 7% of the overall weight, while the variations for the limestone mix are 5%, 10%, and 15%. According to the test results, the soil has a compressive strength of 0.86 kg/cm2, making it unsuitable for use as subgrade soil. The test findings showed that after adding waterglass activator and limestone, the compressive strength value of the free rose. As can be observed, adding 5%, 10%, 15% limestone and 7% waterglass and curing the mixture for a day resulted in unconfined compressive strength values of 4.82 kg/cm2, 6.76 kg/cm2, and 7.48 kg/cm2, respectively. The compressive strength measurements after 3 days of curing were 7.13 kg/cm2, 7.55 kg/cm2, and 11.24 kg/cm2, respectively. These findings suggest that adding waterglass activators and limestone can strengthen soil.

Combination of river stone and river sand in North Luwu district, Indonesia with marble ash as filler towards marshall characteristics

The AC-BC (Asphalt Concrete-Binder Course) pavement layer is a middle layer that sits above the AC base and beneath the wear layer. To be used in this study were the river stone and river sand, Sabbang District, and North Luwu Regency in Mixed Laston AC-BC. With varying marble ash contents of 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100%, experiments were conducted on the characteristics of coarse and fine aggregate as well as marble ash as a filler substitute. The composition of the AC-BC mixture was then designed, the mix properties were determined by the Marshall test, and the Marshall stability residual mix at the optimal bitumen concentration was determined by the Marshall immersion test. The findings demonstrated that the pavement materials, located in Sabbang District, North Luwu Regency, meet the requirements for use as road pavement layer materials. The characteristics of the AC-BC combination with asphalt contents of 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5, and 7.0% were determined by the Marshall Test. The results of the Marshall Immersion test for the AC-BC mixture with an ideal bitumen content of 6.00% produced a residual Marshall stability of 96.5%, fulfilling the Indonesian requirement of 2018 Bina Marga Specifications, which is a minimum of 90%.

Digital twin for subsea pipeline corrosion monitoring location based on ILI-MFL pipeline operator forum and potentiodynamic test

The limitation of subsea pipeline access coupled with limited personnel mobilization due to the COVID-19 pandemic has become a challenge in pipeline inspections. With these limitations, this study’s Inspection Data Management System (IDMS) was carried out by processing data from In Line Inspection-Magnetic Flux Leakage (ILI-MFL) to be developed into digital twin data initiation by simulating anomalies that occur using a potentiodynamic test. The analysis was carried out using the Pipeline Operator Forum (POF) diagram to map the corrosion morphology of the pipeline. Sampling is carried out using pipeline material API 5L-X42 which will form a certain corrosion morphology that represents pinhole, pitting, and general corrosion which is adjusted to the anomalies feature and metal loss depth from pipe tally in the form of length, width, and depth percent of the anomaly to the nominal wall thickness. Potentiodynamic testing was carried out using corrtest instrument 5.0, resulting in tafel polarization to define Resistance of polarization using a stern geary approach. The results are then analyzed to determine the material in resisting damage which shows corrosion rate (for general) and pitting rate (for pitting and pinhole) which is <0.02 mmpy for outstanding, 0.02-0.1 mmpy for excellent, 0.1-0.5 mmpy for good and 0.5-1 mmpy for fair. This digital twin method combined ILI MFL and Potentiodynamic testing to result in the type of anomalies, metal loss depth, dimension of anomalies from the results of the POF diagram, and determination of corrosion rate and pitting rate of API 5L-X42 material in the subsea pipeline.

Plastic waste has become the most significant component of marine debris, while research on traces of marine plastic waste related to the condition of Indonesian waters is still limited. Therefore, this study examines the movement patterns of plastic marine debris in Indonesian waters. Simulations were carried out for one year (2013) using the HAMSOM hydrodynamic and Lagrange trajectory. The approach treated the simulated particles as conservative particles floating at sea. Even though the percentage is small (±16%), Indonesia contributes to transboundary marine debris in the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, and the South China Sea due to the influence of the south equatorial currents moving from north and south of Indonesia. Most of the plastic marine debris remains in Indonesian waters (±80-84%) and moves back and forth due to the influence of the monsoon currents. Therefore, the Java Sea becomes a crossing point and accumulates plastic marine debris. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
