Image deraining aims to improve the visibility of images damaged by rainy conditions, targeting the removal of degradation elements such as rain streaks, raindrops, and rain accumulation. While numerous single image deraining methods have shown promising results in image enhancement within the spatial domain, real-world rain degradation often causes uneven damage across an image's entire frequency spectrum, posing challenges for these methods in enhancing different frequency components. In this paper, we introduce a novel end-to-end Adaptive Frequency Enhancement Network (AFENet) specifically for single image deraining that adaptively enhances images across various frequencies. We employ convolutions of different scales to adaptively decompose image frequency bands, introduce a feature enhancement module to boost the features of different frequency components and present a novel interaction module for interchanging and merging information from various frequency branches. Simultaneously, we propose a feature aggregation module that efficiently and adaptively fuses features from different frequency bands, facilitating enhancements across the entire frequency spectrum. This approach empowers the deraining network to eliminate diverse and complex rainy patterns and to reconstruct image details accurately. Extensive experiments on both real and synthetic scenes demonstrate that our method not only achieves visually appealing enhancement results but also surpasses existing methods in performance. Information security incidents are most commonly caused by user behaviour, placing the user in focus. In order to mitigate information security threats and thereby protect the organisation, more and more are adopting a socio-technical viewpoint, which implies adopting the belief that information security cannot be solved with technology alone. A common way to address the user is by adopting awareness-raising activities. All types of organisations struggle to raise awareness. Several studies have pointed out small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as being extra vulnerable and, in addition, having more issues adopting awareness-raising activities. There are few studies investigating factors influencing the adoption of awareness-raising activities in general, and the body of literature is even more scarce when focusing on the factors from an SME perspective. This study targets the gap by investigating what factors influence the adoption of awareness-raising activities in SMEs. We did this by conducting a semi-structured interview study in 10 organisations. Five factors with a total of seven sub-factors were found: Resources (with the sub-factors time and cost), implementation, content (with the sub-factors quality, adaptability, and comprehensibility), compliance, management (with the sub-factors management support and motivation of the employees). © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Over the past few years, blockchain technology has gained significant attention. This surge in popularity can be attributed to the emergence of cryptocurrencies and the development of smart contracts. Cryptocurrency is a digital currency that eliminates the problem of double spending. Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Stellar, Zcash, Maker, Aave, etc. become popular and are preferred for money transfers. Smart contracts are the next popular technology on the blockchain after cryptocurrency. It can be considered a piece of code that can execute automatically when the predefined conditions are fulfilled. Researchers believe that the potential of blockchain with smart contracts is only in its initial stages and that its true potential has yet to be fully discovered. Hence, an extensive bibliometric analysis is conducted to understand blockchain trends for smart contracts and to give future directions in this field. For this analysis, various steps are followed, starting with formulating the research question, defining the scope of our research, extracting and analyzing data, answering the research question, and finally, drawing a conclusion. In this paper, we present a new version of our bioimaging tool PartSeg. It allows integration of deep learning models from the Bioimage Model Zoo, which is a community-driven AI model repository. We also show how PartSeg’s power users can train such models, for example, to increase automatization of their data processing workflows. Then, we present further new features of PartSeg that make it easier to publish datasets in a durable and referencable way with version tracking. We also describe good practices related to data publishing and how adding metadata can allow for easier data discovery. Availability of such published datasets enables development of even better machine learning models. Publishing of the data is also a requirement for verifiable and repeatable science, leads to greater visibility of the results and enables cooperation and cross-domain exchange of ideas. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

In this study, two deep learning models for automatic tattoo detection were analyzed;a modified Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and pre-trained ResNet-50 model. In order to achieve this, ResNet-50 uses transfer learning with fine-tuning. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and computational efficiency of the system being considered. To augment the dataset included 1000 photos that were equally divided between those showing tattoos and those that did not show tattoos. A k-fold cross-validation approach was employed in training and testing the models. Although custom CNNs are effective, utilizing pre-trained ones like ResNet-50 can offer even better outcomes. Specifically, ResNet-50 attained a higher accuracy (0.86 compared to 0.79), precision (0.85 versus 0.78), recall (0.91 against 0.86), and F1-score (0.91 vis-a-vis 0.86) as compared to custom CNNs. In selecting these models for examination, two main motivations were considered. The first motivation is to see whether transfer learning with a pre-trained ResNet-50 model does well when compared with a customized CNN designed specifically for tattoo detection. Secondly,the intent of this study is to know what advantages can be derived from each approach and their demerits too. Furthermore, it seeks to determine if transfer learning can provide an alternative in contrast to the common CNN techniques with regards to precision and computational efficiency. In this research, two models will be evaluated in order to answer the question of what is better for tattoo detection: transfer learning or designing custom architectures. © 2024 IEEE.

Indoor localization and tracking services are necessary for several popular applications from asset monitoring to location-based marketing. The use of Internet of Things (IoT) devices in those services has increased due to their low cost and ease of deployment. However, indoor services pose significant challenges due to the lack of GPS signals as well as the complexity of the indoor environment. Alternative approaches, mainly including wireless technologies, should be considered. In this work, we examine the feasibility of using wearable IoT devices for indoor tracking. Specifically, we use smartwatches and we examine the performance of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for indoor tracking. According to experimental results, BLE outperformed Wi-Fi in terms of energy efficiency while Wi-Fi, on the other hand, demonstrated a slightly better accuracy in Line of Sight conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

In an era of growing digitization, technology is essential for communication and daily life. However, inaccessible websites, including in Sweden, create barriers for individuals with disabilities, often due to insufficient education and awareness among web developers. Our quantitative study aimed to assess the status of web accessibility education within Swedish web development and interface design programs. We analyzed curricula and surveyed 63 final-year students across 23 programs. Findings show that while most programs (18 out of 23) include web accessibility, integration levels vary. Only 2% of courses offered standalone accessibility objectives, and 7% incorporated it within other courses, leaving 91% without any. Student knowledge varied;69.8% were aware of accessibility guidelines and laws, but 30.2% were not. Additionally, only 26.2% of students reported acquiring knowledge about accessibility guidelines and laws from their current education. This underscores the need for better web accessibility education. © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

There has been a notable increase in research focusing on dynamic selection (DS) techniques within the field of ensemble learning. This leads to the development of various techniques for ensembling multiple classifiers for a specific instance or set of instances during the prediction phase. Despite this progress, the design and development of DS approaches with late fusion settings and their explainability remain unexplored. This work proposes an open-source Python library, Infodeslib, to address this gap. The library provides an implementation of several DS techniques, including four dynamic classifier selections and seven dynamic ensemble selection techniques, all of which are integrated with late data fusion settings and novel explainability features. Infodeslib offers flexibility and customization options, making it a versatile tool for various complex applications that require the fusion of multimodal data and various explainability features. Multimodal data, which integrates information from diverse sources or sensor modalities, is a common and essential setting for real-world problems, enhancing the robustness and depth of data analysis. These data can be fused in two main ways: early fusion, where different modalities are combined at the feature level before model training, and late fusion, where each modality is processed separately and the results are combined at the decision level. The library is fully documented following the Read the Docs standards. Although NDN is an entirely new architecture, its design principles are based on the success of the current Internet, they represent our knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages of the current Internet architecture, and they can be implemented gradually using the operations of the current Internet. The Pending Interest Table (PIT), the Forwarding Information Base (FIB), and the Content Store (CS) are the three data structures found inside the NDN router. Interest sent upstream to the content source is tracked by the Pending Interest Table (PIT), for data to be transmitted to requesters downstream. PIT is also used for measurement, loop detection, and the containment of recently satisfied interest. In this study, we did the simulation to measure and analyze the performance of PIT in NDN using NFD Pipeline Measurements. The NDNSim simulator was used in the research to observe PIT performance. The findings of the simulation and analysis indicated that in an NDN network, Satisfied Interest was influenced by the granularity of a prefix. At the number of interests 1000, the results showed a decrease in packets, including a decrease of around 21% in the Ininterest packet, and around 30% inSatisfiedInterest and InData. The effect of Prefix length also decreased in Ininterest ranging from 0.014-0.015%, while in inSatisfiedInterest and InData it ranged from 4.2-8.5%. The PIT's performance was influenced by the length of the prefix and the number of interest messages the customer sent. © 2024 IEEE.
