High-Performance Flow Classification of Big Data Using Hybrid CPU-GPU Clusters of Cloud Environments

The network switches in the data plane of Software Defined Networking (SDN) are empowered by an elementary process, in which enormous number of packets which resemble big volumes of data are classified into specific flows by matching them against a set of dynamic rules. This basic process accelerates the processing of data, so that instead of processing singular packets repeatedly, corresponding actions are performed on corresponding flows of packets. In this paper, first, we address limitations on a typical packet classification algorithm like Tuple Space Search (TSS). Then, we present a set of different scenarios to parallelize it on different parallel processing platforms, including Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), clusters of Central Processing Units (CPUs), and hybrid clusters. Experimental results show that the hybrid cluster provides the best platform for parallelizing packet classification algorithms, which promises the average throughput rate of 4.2 Million packets per second (Mpps). That is, the hybrid cluster produced by the integration of Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA), Message Passing Interface (MPI), and OpenMP programming model could classify 0.24 million packets per second more than the GPU cluster scheme. Such a packet classifier satisfies the required processing speed in the programmable network systems that would be used to communicate big medical data.

The social force model: a behavioral modeling approach for information propagation during significant events

Information diffusion otherwise known as the propagation, spread or dissemination of information occurs when a piece of information flows from a particular individual/community to another in a social network. Studies related to information propagation involve problems regarding the factors that affect the information propagation, how the information is disseminated, the speed of propagation, etc. Researchers have proposed information propagation models to understand the phenomenon and to answer these questions. These models have been effectively used in applications such as behavior analysis, public health care, etc. Although several studies are carried out in this field, the literature demands identifying the most influential factors of propagation in real time in cases of sudden unexpected significant disasters/epidemics/pandemics, since the existing propagation models seem unfit during such circumstances. In this paper, a novel information propagation model which predicts the top propagators of information related to a particular context is proposed. This model utilizes the past few weeks' data during a sudden outbreak of a disaster and identifies the most influential attributes of a user profile to predict the top propagators of the future. The proposed Social Force Model is inspired by a model used in studying the fear propagation pattern in pedestrian dynamics in real-life situation [Cornes FE, Frank GA, Dorso CO. An intrusion detection system using ranked feature bagging

An Intrusion Detection System monitors the network for any malicious attacks. It is an ideal tool for protecting extensive business networks from any kind of attack. In this paper, an Intrusion Detection System using Bagging and ranked features has been proposed. The sample datasets for training the ensemble of classifiers in the bagging approach are obtained by generating subsets of the features ranked according to their importance in the classification process. OneR algorithm has been used to rank the features. The decision tree has been used as the base classifier in the bagging approach. The proposed system was able to predict attacks with an accuracy of 99.71% with a minimal number of features and outperformed other similar approaches discussed in the literature. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2023. UAV-Assisted Internet of Vehicles over Licensed and Unlicensed Spectrum: Architecture, Intelligent Resource Management, and Challenges

Benefited from their flexibility and on-demand deployment capability, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have emerged as critical aerial communication platforms in future Internet of Vehicles (IoV). However, limited spectrum resources can lead to unsatisfying data rate of IoV, which thus incur large latency, especially under congested IoV network conditions. Although UAVs and road side units (RSUs) can work within the same spectrum and increase spectral efficiency, mutual interference becomes unavoidable. To this end, this article develops a heterogeneous network architecture, in which a UAV-assisted IoV system coexists with a Wi-Fi system: the RSUs can properly occupy unlicensed spectrum to increase the capacity of the UAV-assisted IoV system while mitigating interference, without affecting the performance of the Wi-Fi system. A case study of resource management over licensed and unlicensed spectrum is investigated under the proposed architecture, where time and power are jointly optimized to maximize the sum user satisfaction of the system. We further provide an intelligent solution to tackle the problem in the considered case study. Simulations demonstrate that our proposed case can efficiently improve the sum user satisfaction of the system. Key challenges and opportunities for UAV-assisted IoV over licensed and unlicensed spectrum are discussed, while recommendable future research directions are investigated. © 2018 IEEE.

Key-value relations are prevalent in Visually-Rich Documents (VRDs), often depicted in distinct spatial regions accompanied by specific color and font styles. These non-textual cues serve as important indicators that greatly enhance human comprehension and acquisition of such relation triplets. However, current document AI approaches often fail to consider this valuable prior information related to visual and spatial features, resulting in suboptimal performance, particularly when dealing with limited examples. To address this limitation, our research focuses on few-shot relational learning, specifically targeting the extraction of key-value relation triplets in VRDs. Given the absence of a suitable dataset for this task, we introduce two new few-shot benchmarks built upon existing supervised benchmark datasets. Furthermore, we propose a variational approach that incorporates relational 2D-spatial priors and prototypical rectification techniques. This approach aims to generate relation representations that are more aware of the spatial context and unseen relation in a manner similar to human perception. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method by showcasing its ability to outperform existing methods. The exchange of knowledge is widely recognized as a crucial aspect of effective knowledge management. When it comes to sharing knowledge within Prison settings, things get complicated due to various challenges such as limited resources, social stigma, isolation, communication barriers, and security concerns. Additionally, there's a scarcity of resources dedicated to promoting knowledge sharing in secure environments. This study aims to dig deep into the key factors that influence how knowledge is shared in Indonesian prisons. To navigate this intricate terrain, the study uses questionnaires distributed among Prison officers to understand the complex relationship between the identified critical factors and knowledge sharing in Prison. Leadership support, organizational culture, organizational structure, incentives, and individual beliefs emerge as pivotal elements in knowledge sharing. It's also noted that the connection between these critical factors and the intention to share knowledge is significantly influenced by organizational structure. Recognizing and addressing critical factors in knowledge sharing within prisons not only improves rehabilitation within prison walls but also transforms the broader criminal justice system. This approach fosters evidence-based practices, better communication, and a comprehensive understanding of factors leading to successful rehabilitation and reduced recidivism, ultimately creating a more just and effective system. © 2024 International Conferences e-Society 2024 and Mobile Learning 2024. A Terramechanics-based Dynamic Model for Motion Control of Unmanned Tracked Vehicles

Existing terramechanics-based dynamic models for tracked vehicles (TRVs) are widely used in dynamics analysis. However, these models are incompatible with model-based controller design due to their high complexity and computational costs. This study presents a novel and simplified terramechanics-based dynamic model for TRVs that can be used in optimization-based real-time motion controller design. To this end, we approximated the track-ground interactions with an averaged term of the track-ground shear stresses to make the model computationally efficient and linearizable. By introducing the concepts of slip ratio and slip angle in the field of wheeled vehicles, the terramechanics-based dynamic model was finally simplified into a compact and practical single-track dynamic model reducing the demand for precise slip ratio measurements. The single-track model enables us to design an efficient motion control scheme by considering lateral and longitudinal dynamics separately. Finally, the proposed dynamic model was verified and validated under various road conditions using a real TRV. Additionally, the performance of different models was compared in simulation as an example to demonstrate that the proposed model outperforms the existing ones in TRV path-following tasks. IEEE
