As the need for achieving optimal performance in prediction models, several recent and complex models have been developed. However, many of these models operate as black boxes, providing little insight into their predictive results. In recent years, three gradient-boosting methods based on Decision Trees have been recommended, i.e., XGBoost, CatBoost, and LightGBM. These methods have proven to deliver competitive performance with fast training times. Nevertheless, in critical domains like security, there is a growing need for increased transparency among stakeholders. One pressing concern in the security field is the proliferation of phishing websites. To address this issue, we propose an explainable machine learning-based approach using gradient-boosting methods with hyperparameter optimization on three phishing website datasets. Our best methods surpass the state-of-the-art phishing website detection methods, achieving accuracy rates of 97.45%, 99.16%, and 97.85% for the UCI (2015), Mendeley (2018), and Mendeley (2020) datasets, respectively. Subsequently, we implement posthoc explainability using SHAP and LIME for the selected dataset. The experimental results indicate that three features, i.e., length_url, directory_length, and time_domain_activation, are consistently identified as the most influential features in the dataset. Moreover, our proposed approach demonstrates promising results for detecting phishing websites with both high accuracy and explainability. © 2024 IEEE.

Missing data presents a significant challenge in statistical analysis and machine learning, often resulting in biased outcomes and diminished efficiency. This comprehensive review investigates various imputation techniques, categorizing them into three primary approaches: deterministic methods, probabilistic models, and machine learning algorithms. Traditional techniques, including mean or mode imputation, regression imputation, and last observation carried forward, are evaluated alongside more contemporary methods such as multiple imputation, expectation-maximization, and deep learning strategies. The strengths and limitations of each approach are outlined. Key considerations for selecting appropriate methods, based on data characteristics and research objectives, are discussed. The importance of evaluating imputation’s impact on subsequent analyses is emphasized. This synthesis of recent advancements and best practices provides researchers with a robust framework for effectively handling missing data, thereby improving the reliability of empirical findings across diverse disciplines.

This work presents a numerical investigation of acoustic cavitation in Newtonian fluid based on frequency ultrasound. The model of ultrasonic cavitation dynamics is formulated by a modified Rayleigh-Plesset equation and an acoustic pressure equation. The exponential B-Spline collection method was employed to obtain the numerical solutions of the given cavitation bubble model, considering the effect of acoustic pressure. The behaviour of the cavitation microbubbles' radius and the internal pressure of acoustic cavitation were examined at different values of frequencies. The obtained results reveal the importance of frequencies in ultrasound, which play a vital role in changing the behaviour of cavitation bubbles. © 2023 IEEE.

In the contemporary era, harnessing millimeter-wave frequencies emerges as a compelling strategy to fulfill the swift data transfer requirements for 5G communications. Consequently, this study involves designing a metamaterial-based multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with a focus on achieving high isolation and gain within the millimeter-wave spectrum. The suggested MIMO is printed on a Rogers RT5800 measuring 18 × 38 × 0.8 mm3. The single antenna element demonstrates a broad frequency coverage from 27.2 to 28.72GHz. To elevate the antenna's effectiveness, a two-port MIMO configuration is implemented by introducing a second antenna element parallel to benchmark antenna. However, the isolation between the two elements is deemed satisfactory. To address this, a 4 × 1 metamaterial unit cell is introduced, significantly enhancing isolation from 31 dB to 39 dB at 28 GHz. Furthermore, it improves the gain by 0.5 dBi at 28 GHz, elevating it from 8.5 to 9 dBi. The collective features of the suggested two ports MIMO antenna, encompassing its compactness and simplicity, position it as an excellent option for upcoming portable and shrink devices in Internet of Things uses. © 2024 IEEE.

The aim of this work is to analytically investigate the nonlinear dynamic behaviors of a proposed reduced Lorenz system based on q-deformations. The effects of varying the new q-deformation parameter on the dynamical behaviors of the system along with the induced bifurcations of fixed points are explored. In particular, the codimension-one bifurcation analysis is carried out at interior fixed point of the q-deformed system. Explicit conditions for the existence of pitchfork and Neimark–Sacker bifurcations are obtained. Numerical simulations are performed to confirm stability and bifurcation analysis in addition to investigate the effects of variations in system parameters. The changes in system dynamics are explored via the bifurcation diagrams, phase portraits and time series diagrams. Moreover, the quantification of system complex behaviors is depicted through the maximal Lyapunov exponent plots. A cascaded version of the model is proposed to boost its complex dynamics. Then, a chaos-based image encryption scheme, relying on a proposed key-distribution algorithm, is introduced as an application. Finally, several aspects of security analysis are examined for the encryption system to prove its efficiency and reliability against possible attacks. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Sociedad Española de Matemática Aplicada.

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with a substantial surface area and configurable porosity have gained the interest of researchers in energy storage devices and environmental management. Our investigation efficaciously employs a cuboid-shaped nickel and trimesic acid metal–organic framework (Ni-TMA MOF) as a bifunctional high-performance supercapacitor electrode as well as an efficient photocatalyst. The Ni-cuboid-like MOF's structure provides more electroactive sites along with a shorter pathway for electron transfer and electrolyte diffusion, resulting in a high specific capacitance of 236 F g−1 at 1 A g−1. The fabricated electrode exhibits particularly high capacitance retention, with over 98% retention even after 1000 cycles. The photocatalytic activity of the Ni-TMA MOF for the degradation of rhodamine 6G dye was investigated, which revealed that 90% of the dye was degraded in nearly 40 min, which follows the modified Freundlich process. The development of multifunctional materials to address emerging problems is of paramount importance, and this work ensures this possibility, with results showing improved energy storage and photocatalytic capability. The role of learning media greatly supports the learning process, increasing motivation and interest in the process. Learning media can also be a place to improve competence optimally through bootcamp training menus and the like with more specific training objectives. The main objective of this study is to develop a gamification-based website to enhance students' preparedness for their Final Competency Test by tackling challenges in comprehending programming absent practical experience. The learning method implemented in this website is case-based learning that integrates dynamic coding activities. The research method uses the Plomp approach with 3 main stages, namely preliminary research, prototyping, and assessment stage. The trial of the gamification website began with media and content validation followed by small group testing and large group testing. Validation by media and material experts led to the execution of small group trials (95.7%) and large group trials (91.7%), producing exceptionally positive outcomes. The results of the small group test with 12 respondents produced a very suitable value with a score of 95.7 and the large group test with 27 respondents produced a score of 9 1. 7 % with very suitable criteria. This indicates that the web-based platform is highly viable for assisting vocational students in acquiring software development skills, enhancing their preparedness for practical IT positions such as software developers and system analysts. Subsequent study involved the incorporation of gamification, such as computer-supported collaborative learning. © 2024 IEEE.

Proteins can be denatured under extreme conditions due to breaking non-covalent bonds between protein side chains, causing conformational changes and loss of function. However, some proteins can withstand extreme conditions, known as extremophile proteins. The stability of this extremophile protein has attracted the interest of researchers to be used in industrial applications. Over the last decade, both traditional methods involve experimental and systematic comparison and computational methods such as machine learning are developed to classify extremophilic proteins and their counterparts and identify their essential properties as the basis for carrying out protein design and engineering. This review compares various studies to classify some extremophile proteins in terms of datasets, feature extractions, and classification algorithms used in each study. It also includes some challenges in this research area, such as data limitations, handcrafted features, limited sequence method utilized for classification, and model interpretability. The studies presented in this review are based on our unique review and by no means complete. Nevertheless, hopefully, the review will provide insight for new research in developing the more effective, interpretable and improved performance of predictions. © 2022 IEEE.

This work investigates the performance of simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) in a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided Internet of Things (IoT) communications under imperfect channel state information (CSI). We formulate a multiobjective optimization problem (MOOP) to design a transmit precoding vector (TPV) at the base station (BS) and phase shift matrix (PSM) at the RIS that jointly maximizes energy efficiency (EE) and harvested power (HP) under the norm-bounded CSI error model. Due to the conflicting objective functions and nonconvex nature of the above optimization problem, the MOOP is simplified using the ϵ-constraint method and subsequently adopting advanced optimization tools, such as the Dinkelbach method, S-procedure, general sign-definiteness, semidefinite programming and convex-concave procedure. Thereafter, we propose an alternating optimization-based algorithm which determines optimal TPV and PSM iteratively that jointly maximizes the EE and HP of the considered system. Through numerical simulations, we validate the robustness, optimality, convergence, accuracy, and effectiveness of our proposed algorithm. Furthermore, we assess the impact of several key parameters, such as the number of RIS elements, available transmit power at BS, and the minimum HP on the performance of the considered system. © 2014 IEEE.

Indonesia is an archipelagic country with a coastline of about 81,000 km and has a variety of very large biological and non-biological resources. Position as an archipelagic country with a very wide sea causes each region to have the potential to produce salt. The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in various negative impacts on several fields such as the economy, social, SMEs and community services. Covid-19 has also resulted in a decrease in salt production and farmers also have difficulty marketing it. The research problem is the large number of salt farmers and number of indicators in providing assistance so that a model for measuring performance of salt farmers is needed. This performance measurement model is guided by several indicators, namely land area (K1), production result (K2), business capital (K3), and marketing system (K4). The method used Interval type-2 Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (IVFAHP). IVFAHP is used to determine indicators that most influence measurement of salt farmers. This study aims to build a model for measuring performance of salt farmers to increase economic productivity and ability of human resources to deal with COVID-19 pandemic. The contribution is a group-based decision by developing the fuzzy interval type-2 method with triangular fuzzy number (TFN) one midpoints. The findings from study are that the most influential indicators in dealing with COVID-19 pandemic are business capital and salt marketing.
