This paper presents an application of the Multi-Objective Branch-and-Bound based on Decomposition (MOBB/D) method for Branch-and-Cut, combining branch-and-bound and cutting-plane methods. Traditionally, multi-objective branch-and-bound methods for multi-objective mixed-integer linear programming problems struggle with the large number of Pareto-optimal solutions. MOBB/D addresses this by decomposing multi-objective problems into single-objective subproblems using weight vectors and applying branch-and-bound to each, with information sharing between nearby subproblems. In this paper, we customize the MOBB/D method for Branch-and-Cut to achieve an efficient search by sharing cutting plane information in MOBB/D. We demonstrate our approach with a case study on garbage collection planning in Muroran City, Hokkaido, Japan. This case study combines facility location and route optimization within a multi-objective framework, balancing the burdens on residents and garbage collection workers. Numerical experiments compare execution times and solutions with and without cutting plane sharing, and visualize the impact of different objective balance preferences on route optimization. The results show substantial efficiency gains and provide practical insights for multi-objective optimization in urban planning. © 2024 IEEE.

This study focuses on the optimization of Traffic Light System (TLS) control through the use of adaptive agents. The performance of adaptive cycle TLS was compared with fixed cycle TLS. Two different adaptive cycle TLS agents were investigated, reactive and Deep Q-Network (DQN) agents. The reactive agent adjusted its control signals based on traffic measures such as queue length, while the DQN agent employed a deep reinforcement learning algorithm to determine its control signals. Two sets of simulations were conducted to evaluate the performance of both approaches. The results showed that the adaptive cycle TLS was more effective in reducing waiting times and increasing traffic throughput than the fixed cycle TLS. Among the adaptive agents, the reactive agent outperformed the DQN agent, due to the difficulty in learning an optimal policy in the traffic control domain, which has a non-stationary and complex nature. This preliminary study showed the potential benefits of using adaptive agents for traffic light control, and further studies in various areas such as employing more advanced TLS control methods, expanding the scale of the study, and applying real-demand in the simulation, could be carried out in future work. © 2023 IEEE.

Spatiotemporal data fusion technologies have been widely used for land surface phenology(LSP)monitoring since it is a low-cost solution to obtain fine-resolution satellite time ***,the reliability of fused images is largely affected by land surface heterogeneity and input *** is unclear whether data fusion can really benefit LSP studies at fine *** explore this research question,this study designed a sophisticated simulation experiment to quantify effectiveness of 2 representative data fusion algorithms,namely,pair-based Spatial and Temporal Adaptive Reflectance Fusion Model(STARFM)and time series-based Spatiotemporal fusion method to Simultaneously generate Full-length normalized difference vegetation Index Time series(SSFIT)by fusing Landsat and Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS)data in extracting pixel-wise spring phenology(i.e.,the start of the growing season,SOS)and its spatial gradient and temporal *** results reveal that:(a)STARFM can improve the accuracy of pixel-wise SOS by up to 74.47%and temporal variation by up to 59.13%,respectively,compared with only using Landsat images,but it can hardly improve the retrieval of spatial *** SSFIT,the accuracy of pixel-wise SOS,spatial gradient,and temporal variation can be improved by up to 139.20%,26.36%,and 162.30%,respectively;(b)the accuracy improvement introduced by fusion algorithms decreases with the number of available Landsat images per year,and it has a large variation with the same number of available Landsat images,and(c)this large variation is highly related to the temporal distributions of available Landsat images,suggesting that fusion algorithms can improve SOS accuracy only when cloud-free Landsat images cannot capture key vegetation growth *** study calls for caution with the use of data fusion in LSP studies at fine scales.

In this study, a method of time series classification is considered. Classification is performed using forecasting models. It is assumed that processed time series are of different natures, i.e., they belong to different classes. Each class has its forecasting model. Thus, an unknown time series is presented to the models to evaluate forecasting errors. The classified time series is assigned to the class with the winning forecasting model. In the study, Fuzzy Cognitive Maps are used to build forecasting models. Prior to forecasting, the processed raw time series are preprocessed. Six different error functions having the most significant influence on classification are used. The error functions come from root mean square error and mean percentage error.

Propyl acetate-glycols systems: Thermophysical studies and molecular interactions

This study presents a comprehensive investigation on the thermophysical characteristics of binary mixtures comprising propyl acetate and three related glycols (1,3-butylene glycol, diethylene glycol, and triethylene glycol), focusing on the intermolecular interactions and mixing behavior. Experimental measurements of permittivity, refractive index, and density were performed over the entire composition range at different temperatures of 293.15–313.15 K and 101 kPa. The obtained data were coherently analyzed using appropriate equations to unravel the system's behavior at a molecular level. The results provide valuable insights into the thermo-physical properties for the studied binary systems. The analysis explores the impact of chemical composition and temperature on intermolecular network and constituent's structure through the different excess quantities. Additionally, a reliable and efficient Add-in tool, StatDiel, implemented in Microsoft Excel, is introduced for the analysis of static dielectric data, facilitating data verification, calculations, fitting processes for the excess data of permittivity, molar volume, Kirkwood correlation factor, Helmholtz free energy, and separating excess dielectric contributions and visualization of results. The findings contribute significantly to the existing literature by providing novel thermophysical data and their interpretation for the studied systems. This study fills a gap in the available literature and offers a deeper understanding of the physicochemical properties of propyl acetate-glycols mixtures, shedding light on molecular interactions and system behavior. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.

Named entity recognition has emerged as a critical step in recognizing, classifying, and extracting the most significant information from unstructured text without human intervention. It is used in information retrieval, conversation systems, machine translation, data mining, and information extraction. However, the Awngi language lacks a NER system due to inadequate datasets. This study combines feature extraction techniques with supervised machine learning algorithms, including support vector machines, Naïve Bayes, and conditional random fields with a grid search algorithm parameter optimization. These supervised machine-learning models often have various hyperparameters that must be tuned to optimize the model's performance by automatically selecting the parameter. Furthermore, the dataset used for training and testing consists of 20,193 annotated Awngi tokens, collected from Amhara Media Corporation, Awngi Telegram, and Facebook pages. The proposed SVM with grid search algorithm approach provided a promising result in ANER with an accuracy of 92% compared with Naïve Bayes, conditional random field, and decision-tree supervised machine learning models. Finally, the experiment results show that the proposed parameter tuning-based model can detect and categorize Awingi-named entities and outperforms the performance accuracy without parameter adjustment. © 2024 IEEE.

Nowadays Mobile Applications are a necessity as everyone is depending on them in their everyday tasks. We use them for communication, entertainment, and utilities. Every day new devices are introduced to the market. The diversity in these devices resulted in many platforms like Android and iOS. These different mobile platforms used by different companies and manufacturers made it challenging for mobile developersto build an application or a system that can be deployed on different platforms. Developers will be required to go through multiple development cycles to develop the application for each of the targeted platforms. To solve these issues, cross-platform frameworks emerged as a solution that would help the developers to write one codebase and deploy it on multiple platforms at the same time. Even though cross-platform frameworks reduced the time and cost needed to develop an application, but they did not provide the native feel and performance of the native applications. It was also challenging for developers to integrate cross-platform applications with a pre-existing system and to maintain the system. Some approaches were introduced to solve these issues by allowing the developer to write one codebase and generate the native code for each platform. One of the recently presented approaches is the trans-compilation approach that depends on the parser code to recognize the source code and generate the corresponding code for it in the target language. Even though the trans-compiler-based approaches were effective in providing an application that combines the advantages of the cross-platform and native development, it faced some problems in dealing with statements that is not expressed in the language's grammar rules, eternal APIs, and APIs that require code definition, like Firebase. In this paper, our aim is to provide a solution that can be integrated with the trans-compilation approach to solve the previously mentioned issues to enhance the conversion success

The digital changes business patterns that require companies by using an integrated system for strategic decision-making. ERP system is one technological innovation that enable to have a competitive advantage. But the fact is that only a few companies have succeeded in implementing the ERP system. The objective of this research is to integrate the ERP system with business strategy in implementing ERP systems. The research focuses on developing an ERP system integration model for implementing the SAP ERP success. The methodology is based on previous research for the ERP implementation. This research examines quantitative data to determine indicators using entropy and conducts case studies in the industry. The research results prove that the management support indicator is an essential factor in integrating ERP systems to develop the company's strategic business. The output research is the design of the integration model development of the ERP system. © 2023 IEEE.

The research paper presents a novel analysis of textual data based on Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to analyse New York Times articles from January 2019 to May 2023. The purpose of this paper is to gain an understanding of the economic impact that follows Covid-19 disease. New York Times (NYT), it was started in 1884 is one of the most prominent newspapers in the world. Additionally, we have used the New York Times Archive API to collect the data for the given timeframe. By analysing sentiment analysis, topic modelling, entity recognition, and keyword extraction, valuable insights can be gathered into market trends, industry shifts, and policy interventions. The authors have created a data science pipeline using Amazon Web Services (AWS), which enables data collection, storage, and visualization. It contributes to a better understanding of the pandemic's short-term and long-term economic effects. The results of this study demonstrate Natural Language Processing techniques' potential as a tool for financial analytics, assisting policymakers, economists, and businesses in formulating recovery strategies. © 2023 IEEE.

Research in the area of knowledge management for improving academic performance has been on the rise in recent years. The effectiveness of knowledge management in improving the quality of decision-making in higher education is a new challenge in the drive for university performance improvement. Therefore, this paper tries to propose one conceptual framework used to measure academic performance in universities. By applying knowledge management process integrated with Business Intelligence System with data-driven analysis concept. This can provide new insights into the theme of academic knowledge management processes for future research opportunities. The model developed is based on comprehensive research developments on research trends and mapping of knowledge management articles and academic performance as well as a systematic literature review. This literature review examines the current state, clusters, and main topics of research related to knowledge management based on authors, sources, cited articles, countries of article authors, and journals that are productive in producing articles. Herein, 429 articles are utilized as metadata taken from the Scopus database published in 2018-2024. Hence, the data analysis of scientific articles is then reviewed using a bibliometric approach and article mapping with using tool VOSviewers to get a network visualization image. The findings of bibliometric analysis point to a rise in publications and a strong level of interest among academics in the field of knowledge management for performance evaluation in higher education institutions.
