In this work, we propose a novel method for generating inter-lingual document representations using neural network concept compression. The presented approach is intended to improve the quality of content-based multilingual document recommendation and information retrieval systems by creating a language-independent representation. The main idea is to use mappings to align monolingual representation spaces, using concept compression, to create inter-lingual representations. The proposed approach outperforms traditional cross-lingual retrieval and recommendations methods in experiments conducted on JRC-Acquis and EU bookshop multilingual corpora. Asia stands out as a priority for urgent biodiversity conservation due to its large protected areas(PAs)and threatened *** the 21st century,both the highlands and lowlands of Asia have been experiencing the dramatic human ***,the threat degree of human expansion to biodiversity is poorly ***,the threat degree of human expansion to biodiversity over 2000 to 2020 in Asia at the continental(Asia),national(48 Asian countries),and hotspot(6,502 Asian terrestrial PAs established before 2000)scales is investigated by integrating multiple large-scale *** results show that human expansion poses widespread threat to biodiversity in Asia,especially in Southeast Asia,with Malaysia,Cambodia,and Vietnam having the largest threat degrees(~1.5 to 1.7 times of the Asian average level).Human expansion in highlands induces higher threats to biodiversity than that in lowlands in one-third Asian countries(most Southeast Asian countries).The regions with threats to biodiversity are present in~75%terrestrial PAs(including 4,866 PAs in 26 countries),and human expansion in PAs triggers higher threat degrees to biodiversity than that in *** findings provide novel insight for the Sustainable Development Goal 15(SDG-15 Life on Land)and suggest that human expansion in Southeast Asian countries and PAs might hinder the realization of *** reduce the threat degree,Asian developing countries should accelerate economic transformation,and the developed countries in the world should reduce the demands for commodity trade in Southeast Asian countries(i.e.,trade leading to the loss of wildlife habitats)to alleviate human expansion,especially in PAs and highlands.

The world is facing an increase in the incidence of thyroid diseases, including in Jordan as well, especially hypothyroidism. This condition can be diagnosed through blood samples to know the percentage of hormones (TSH, T3, and T4) and take the appropriate decision after that. The major goal of this study is to make diagnosis easier and reduce the risk of misdiagnosis, which happens all too often. Methods: The use of machine learning in the prediction of disease is a crucial step in the process of data analysis. This paper presents an analysis and classification model that takes into account the various factors involved in the prediction of disease. We applied a number of machine learning algorithms like support vector machine (SVM), Nave Bayes, decision trees, and ensemble to get the best prediction. The decision tree algorithm showed the highest accuracy and lowest cost with a percentage of 97.6 percent and 90, respectively. The results appeared in the form of three classes (compensated hypothyroidism, primary hypothyroidism, and negative). Conclusion: The best results were obtained at the milestone point in computer-aided diagnosis of hypothyroidism. Future work is considered to increase the number of cases that can be detected and diagnosed using machine learning. © 2022 IEEE.

In the past few years, driving while tired has become one of the main causes of car accidents. This kind of dangerous driving can cause serious injuries or even death and huge financial losses. The face, a significant part of the body, can send many different messages. When a person is tired, their facial expressions, like how often they blink their eyes, differ from when they are alert. This is very clear when it comes to drivers. In this study, a fusion deep learning algorithm (FDLA) is used to determine if a driver is tired and how tired they are in real time. This algorithm uses video footage to determine how tired a driver is based on how often they blink and how long their eyes are closed. We are making a new face-tracking algorithm because the ones that are already out there aren’t good enough. This will make face tracking more accurate. Also, a new way to find problems in facility areas has been made, and it is based on seventy essential spots. After that, these parts of the driver’s face can be used to determine how he or she is feeling. This paper presents an adaptive online learning framework for systems with uncertain parameters to ensure safety-critical control in non-stationary environments. Our approach consists of two phases. The initial phase is centered on a novel sparse Gaussian process (GP) framework. We first integrate a forgetting factor to refine a variational sparse GP algorithm, thus enhancing its adaptability. Subsequently, the hyperparameters of the Gaussian model are trained with a specially compound kernel, and the Gaussian model’s online inferential capability and computational efficiency are strengthened by updating a solitary inducing point derived from newly samples, in conjunction with the learned hyperparameters. In the second phase, we propose a safety filter based on high order control barrier functions (HOCBFs), synergized with the previously trained learning model. By leveraging the compound kernel from the first phase, we effectively address the inherent limitations of GPs in handling high-dimensional problems for real-time applications. The derived controller ensures a rigorous lower bound on the probability of satisfying the safety specification. Finally, the efficacy of our proposed algorithm is demonstrated through real-time obstacle avoidance experiments executed using both simulation platform and a real-world 7-DOF robot.

With the development of information technology and the increasing demand for data processing, the serial mode of the central processing unit (CPU) is difficult to efficiently transmit large-scale spatiotemporal data, and the processing effect for high-resolution images is not good. This paper designed a high-resolution image processing and spatiotemporal data transmission system based on graphics processing unit (GPU) acceleration to improve the processing efficiency of large-scale spatiotemporal data. In this paper, traffic spatiotemporal data was taken as an example for analysis. Large-scale traffic image data was collected by road monitoring equipment, and image compression was performed on the collected image. Fourier transform was used to eliminate image data redundancy, and GPU-accelerated parallel processing was used to achieve fast image defogging and data transmission. This paper selected 2TB of traffic spatiotemporal data with image resolutions of 540P, 720P, 1080P, 1440P, and 2160P. GPU acceleration was performed using the Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA). In images with a resolution of 2160P, the processing time for CPU and GPU acceleration was 2900ms and 28ms, respectively, with an acceleration ratio of 103.6. A high-resolution image processing and spatiotemporal data transmission system based on GPU acceleration can improve the efficiency of traffic spatiotemporal data processing and have excellent concurrent processing capabilities. © World Scientific Publishing Company.

Roadmapping is a structured, logic-based method to support strategic planning for organizations and governments. However, it is not necessarily effective to produce destructive changes in the era of uncertainty. Specifically, roadmapping is useful for visualizing ideas for better communication among stakeholders but has limitations when creating unconventional knowledge through abduction. Additionally, it lacks the ability to create knowledge considering humanity and well-being to respond to current and future uncertain social situations. Therefore, this study aims to explore the key factors for incorporating the science-fiction (sci-fi) prototyping method into roadmapping, based on the literature review. Roadmapping is a logic-consistent, face-to-face workshop-based method, whereas sci-fi prototyping is a workshop-based method that utilizes fiction in a distributed virtual system. Both methods are used to conceptualize future innovative technologies and policy recommendations. Though they have similar objectives, the resulting future concepts are exactly the opposite. To integrate the two methods effectively, we break them down into modules and consider reconstructing them. The genericity assumption, supposing that the nonzero parameters of a system are algebraically independent transcendentals over the field of the rationals, often helps for the mathematical modelling of linear systems. Without this condition nonzero expansion members of a determinant can cancel out each other, decreasing the rank of a matrix. In this note we show that under some circumstances an increase is also possible. This counterintuitive phenomenon is explained using some tools from matroid theory, and is illustrated by a classical network of Carlin and Youla. © 2021 Budapest University of technology and Economics. The atmosphere’s fine articulate Matter (PM2.5) poses various health-related risks. Even though multiple efforts have been made to lower the emissions of these substances, the mortality rate is continuously increasing, requiring immediate inclination of the scientific community towards the design and development of advanced predictive models. Conventional statistical approaches have become dormant due to their limitations in capturing the innate relationships between the pollutants, particularly for predicting PM2.5 concentrations. In contrast, machine and deep learning techniques have shown great potential for forecasting air quality, providing more accuracy than its predecessor techniques. The present study investigates the utilization of hybrid approaches by integrating machine learning models with deep learning models to improve the prediction capabilities of PM2.5 concentration. It uses datasets from the World Air Quality Index (WAQI) and the State of Global Air (SOGA) to analyze the performance of the models on both the daily and annual data, respectively. This ensures the model’s effectiveness on a diversified dataset. The present study implements Random Forest (RF), Polynomial Regression (PR), XGBoost, and Extra Tree Regressor (ETR) coupled with Fully Connected Neural Network (FCNN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), and Bi-directional LSTM (Bi-LSTM) for obtaining optimized results. Finally, after a thorough investigation, the hybrid PR model coupled with FCNN (PR-FCNN) is found to be the best model with improved R-squared (R2) values, portraying its potential for predicting PM2.5 concentration accurately. Based on the experimentation, the preset study recommends implementing hybrid approaches, offering better predictive accuracy in forecasting air pollutants, especially PM2.5. © The Author(s) 2024.

In this paper, we propose two uncertainty relations that reveal a previously unnoticed complementarity in quantum uncertainty not captured by the conventional Robertson and Schrödinger relations, particularly in the case of mixed quantum states. These relations are formulated based on the state-dependent norm of the commutator, generalizing the Böttcher-Wenzel inequality. Furthermore, we compare our results with the Luo-Park uncertainty relation and demonstrate that our bound outperforms their bound for mutually unbiased observables.
