European Automotive Industry is suffering from a skill gap between engineering graduates and industry practices. This paper introduces a collaborative research aiming at establishing a certified automotive engineering design curriculum which shall serve as a springboard to highly qualified engineering design jobs in the automotive industry. Based on the European AQUA sector skills alliance, this research brings together major players from industry and higher education. Integrated design education with a clear ECTS-ECVET evaluation scheme plays a key role in this curriculum, since most of the modern skill challenges in automotive are related to interdisciplinary design optimization of quality and costs.

The digitization of our society changes the way we live, work, learn, communicate, and collaborate. This disruptive change interacts with all information processes and systems that are important business enablers for the context of digitization since years. Our aim is to support flexibility and agile transformations for both business domains and related information technology and enterprise systems through adaptation and evolution of digital enterprise architectures. The present research paper investigates collaborative decision mechanisms for adaptive digital enterprise architectures by extending original architecture reference models with state of art elements for agile architectural engineering for the digitization and collaborative architectural decision support. This paper investigates the utilization of the time-continuous chaotic system, which is UEDA oscillator, as the chaotic pseudo random number generator. (CPRNG). Repeated simulations were performed investigating the influence of the oscillator sampling time to the selected heuristic, which is differential evolution algorithm (DE). The ability to collaborate has always been vitally important to organisations. With the availability of current networking and computing power, the creation of collaborative working environments (CWEs) has allowed for this process to occur anytime over any geographical distance. While the strength of a CWE is its ability to allow for the exchange of information freely between collaborators, this opens the users up to a possible loss of privacy. In this work, the issue of protecting privacy while collaborating is discussed. To address the privacy concerns that are raised, a privacy framework is presented. This framework contains a generic privacy ontology that allows the framework to adapt to any domain, a reasoning engine that infers who has access to what information according to which privacy rules, and a collaborative privacy manager (CPM) which can make decisions and assist collaborating users with their privacy protection. The main objective of this work is to present the generic ontology of privacy and to highlight tasks the CPM performs within a CWE. This work has been deployed through a prototype tool that demonstrates a scenario between a hospital and a university. Copyright © 2016 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

BACKGROUND:Global disparities in prostate cancer (PCa) incidence highlight the urgent need to identify genomic abnormalities in prostate tumors in different ethnic populations including Asian men. OBJECTIVE:To systematically explore the genomic complexity and define disease-driven genetic alterations in PCa. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS:The study sequenced whole-genome and transcriptome of tumor-benign paired tissues from 65 treatment-naive Chinese PCa patients. Subsequent targeted deep sequencing of 293 PCa-relevant genes was performed in another cohort of 145 prostate tumors. OUTCOME MEASUREMENTS AND STATISTICAL ANALYSIS:The genomic alteration landscape in PCa was analyzed using an integrated computational pipeline. Relationships with PCa progression and survival were analyzed using nonparametric test, log-rank, and multivariable Cox regression analyses. RESULTS AND LIMITATIONS:We demonstrated an association of high frequency of CHD1 deletion with a low rate of TMPRSS2-ERG fusion and relatively high percentage of mutations in androgen receptor upstream activator genes in Chinese patients. We identified five putative clustered deleted tumor suppressor genes and provided experimental and clinical evidence that PCDH9, deleted/loss in approximately 23% of tumors, functions as a novel tumor suppressor gene with prognostic potential in PCa. Furthermore, axon guidance pathway genes were frequently deregulated, including gain/amplification of PLXNA1 gene in approximately 17% of tumors. Functional and clinical data analyses showed that increased expression of PLXNA1 promoted prostate tumor growth and independently predicted prostate tumor biochemical recurrence, metastasis, and poor survival in multi-institutional cohorts of patients with PCa. A limitation of this study is that other genetic alterations were not experimentally investigated. This paper presents link prediction of Linked Open Data (LOD) by Multiple Label Propagation Algorithm (MLPA). The current LOD do not have enough links. Therefore, the LOD have not been able to exert so much semantic characteristics. In order to solve this problem, we proposed the MLPA considering semantic distance. The MLPA can expand potential links of each data contained in the LOD. The experimental result of the MLPA shows the good performance and the validity of this algorithm is confirmed.

We report a characterization of the multi-band flux variability and correlations of the nearby (z=0.031) blazar Markarian 421 (Mrk 421) using data from Metsähovi, Swift, Fermi-LAT, MAGIC, FACT and other collaborations and instruments from November 2014 till June 2016. Mrk 421 did not show any prominent flaring activity, but exhibited periods of historically low activity above 1 TeV (F>1TeV -12 ph cm-2 s-1) and in the 2-10 keV (X-ray) band (F2-10 keV -11 erg cm-2 s-1), during which the Swift-BAT data suggests an additional spectral component beyond the regular synchrotron *** highest flux variability occurs in X-rays and very-high-energy (E>0.1 TeV) γ-rays, which, despite the low activity, show a significant positive correlation with no time lag. The HRkeV and HRTeV show the harder-when-brighter trend observed in many blazars, but the trend flattens at the highest fluxes, which suggests a change in the processes dominating the blazar variability. Enlarging our data set with data from years 2007 to 2014, we measured a positive correlation between the optical and the GeV emission over a range of about 60 days centered at time lag zero, and a positive correlation between the optical/GeV and the radio emission over a range of about 60 days centered at a time lag of 43+-96 *** observation is consistent with the radio-bright zone being located about 0.2 parsec downstream from the optical/GeV emission regions of the jet. The flux distributions are better described with a LogNormal function in most of the energy bands probed, indicating that the variability in Mrk 421 is likely produced by a multiplicative process.
