The role of Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) is critical to maintain cost-efficient in smart grids, as the predictive maintenance means for ensuring their reliability. Java Bali grid is the most important power network in Indonesia, because it holds 75% energy sales and the foundation of the Indonesian government, business and industrial sectors. One method for prediction in the machine learning is the Linear Regression, as part of the Supervised Learning technique. The regression model extracts the grid overload variable from MV distribution system, where connected load (MVA) divided by the number of MV customers. The model constructs the Linear Regression function, where the slope and intercept values found from the correlation between predicted response and actual response. After confronting the function f(x) and the coefficient of determination (R2), the test results for the MTTF prediction values for Java-Bali's region shows the higher accuracy when the R2 shows highest value. © 2023 IEEE.

Malaria can be difficult to detect from thin blood smears. Image recognition methods such as convolutional neural network can be used to detect malaria, but the training process takes a long time. Previous research created a new architecture and compares it to several other architectures such as VGG-16 and ResNet. The effect of preprocessing is analyzed in this research. VGG-16, ResNet, and the custom architecture created by the previous research are being used in this study. The preprocessing methods being analyzed in this research include gray-world normalization and comprehensive normalization. The highest accuracy improvement per epoch (0.5256% using ResNet-50 and 0.0352% using custom architecture) is achieved through gray-world normalization, that also improves final accuracy (90.1% using ResNet-50 and 93.1% using custom architecture) when compared to other methods with the same epochs for ResNet and custom architecture. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study investigates the impact of feature selection results using the filter method on the performance of predictive models for the nutritional status of children aged 0-23 months. This study aimed to understand how correlation-based feature selection methods affect the efficiency and accuracy of predictive models. The dataset comes from the Basic Health Research survey, which consists of 84 variables and around 130,000 data, including anthropometric, family, socioeconomic, and environmental information. In this study, various filter-based feature selection methods were applied to evaluate and identify features that have significant relationships with children’s nutritional status, both linearly and non-linearly. The mutual information method was used to identify complex relationships between features and target variables, while the Pearson Correlation Coefficient and information gain were used to assess the relevance of numerical and categorical features. Of the 84 variables in the dataset, 37 features were selected after the selection process. The model performance evaluation was carried out using the Random Forest (RF) and Gradient Boosting (GB) algorithms, by comparing the results between the dataset that had been selected and without feature selection. The RF model without feature selection produces accuracy: 0,84600, precision: 0,83958, recall: 0,84600, F1-score: 0,78962, and a computation time of 9 seconds. The GB model without feature selection produces accuracy: 0,86330, precision: 0,84722, recall: 0,86330, F1-score: 0,84925, and a computation time of 2 minutes 50 seconds. After feature selection and cross-validation, the RF model shows accuracy: 0,85701, precision: 0,83599, recall: 0,85701, and F1 score: 0,83484. The GB model shows accuracy at 0,86124, precision at 0,84226, recall at 0,86130, and F1 score at 0,84120.

Industrial development requires accurate and reliable control technology. One of the popular control systems is PID control. This paper discusses the implementation of the PID method for ping-pong ball position control by utilizing the theory of the Coanda effect. The control system was designed using Arduino as the controller and LabVIEW as the control interface. Tests were carried out by combining set point values to determine whether the position control system worked properly or not. The test results show that the PID method combined with LabVIEW can work well with the results of the PID control test at successive heights of 15 cm, 20 cm, 25 cm, 30 cm, and 35 cm obtained rise time (tr) 3.49 seconds, 4.58 seconds, 9.08 sec, 9.92 sec, and 8.84 sec. The average tolerance is 1.5 cm for the upper limit and 1 cm for the lower limit. © 2023 IEEE.

Lembang fault is an active fault that may trigger earthquakes and landslides in the North Bandung area. The movement of the fault is on the mainland, theLembang fult is still being debated even though an earthquake has been recorded which may have originated from this fault. The epicenter in the Cihideung area, in addition to tectonic influences, the activity of the Lembang fault is also thought to be influenced by volcanism which can affect the mechanism of fault movement. Tectonic processes play an essential role in the formation of the morphology of an area. The Lembang fault is a normal fault that was formed as a result of tectonic activity in the Neogene sge, located in the northern part of Bandung, stretching for 30 km in a west-east direction, the existence of this fault has shaped the morphology of the Lembang plains to the north and forms a hilly path trending west-east to the north. South. Tectonic geomorphology is the main factor that controls the development of landforms in active tectonic areas and have a significant influence on the natural features of mountains and watersheds which are located east of the Lembang fault, Cikapundung, and Cikeruh. Trending northwest-southeast geomorphic indication analysis is used to study tectonic activity in the study area in the form of basin shape (Bs), watersheds gradient index (SL), drainage basin asymmetry (Af), mountain face sinuosity (SMF) and valley floor width to valley height ratio (Vf). These geomorphic indication variables are combined to produce degrees of relative tectonic activity in the research area which can be divided into four classes;class 1 has a very high relative tectonic activity index, class 2 has a relatively high tectonic activity index, class 3 has a relatively moderate tectonic activity index, and class 4 has a relatively low tectonic activity index, field observation data in the form of the landform and geology of the research area support these results. © 2023 ACRS. The field of dermatology faces considerable challenges when it comes to early detection of skin cancer. Our study focused on using different datasets, including original data, augmented data, and SMOTE oversampled data, to identify skin cancer. Our dataset consisted of images of skin lesions from the MNIST Skin Cancer dataset (HAM 10000), including samples of both cancerous and benign cases in the dataset. We employed data augmentation to expand the dataset's size and increase the diversity of skin lesion features. Furthermore, to tackle class imbalance in the dataset, we applied the SMOTE oversampling technique to generate synthetic samples for the under-represented group. With the original, augmented, and SMOTE oversampled datasets, we trained a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model. The performance of the model was evaluated using accuracy, recall, precision, and F1-score. The comparison between the results obtained from the original data, augmented data, and SMOTE oversampling data clearly revealed distinctions in performance. Our findings clearly demonstrate that employing data augmentation and SMOTE oversampling can significantly enhance the efficacy of skin cancer detection. © 2023 IEEE.

The development of critical thinking, creativity, and communication abilities is facilitated by the acquisition of writing skills, which are significant for students. Nevertheless, a considerable number of students presently encounter difficulties in locating the impetus and enthusiasm required for engagement in writing endeavors. The focus of the present paper is application design. The VBee application is a web-based application that facilitates the expression of user creativity and fosters a deeper appreciation for the art of writing. The application boasts a highly intuitive interface that effortlessly enables users to document their thoughts and experiences. It offers a plethora of features that not only facilitate writing but also foster self-expression, including customizable emoticons and the option to provide feedback. By designing the application, it could help support vocational school students in improving the quality of skill-focused education, particularly their English creative writing skill in enjoyment. Besides, the teachers are assisted to guide their students with technologically advanced and entertaining learning tools. © 2023 IEEE.

3D city models are an important cornerstone in the development of digital twin cities, allowing for various analyses and simulations. CityGML, as an open standard for 3D city models, emphasizes five main aspects: scale or level of detail (LoD), semantics, geometry, topology, and appearance. One of the important elements in CityGML 3D city models is representation of vegetation. Vegetation in CityGML, especially individual trees, is still limited in terms of detail and resolution, reducing its effectiveness for specific applications. This paper proposes a graph-based conceptual model for individual trees that conforms to the CityGML v2.0 specification. The model refers to the morphological structure of a tree consisting of roots, trunk, and crown (including branches, twigs, and leaves), and considers the five main aspects of CityGML. By enhancing semantic information and geometric details, the model aims to provide an information-rich and realistic representation of individual trees in a 3D city environment. The 3D tree model created based on this conceptual model may be applicable in the development of digital twin urban forests and virtual forest simulations that utilize immersive technologies such as the metaverse. This research opens up new opportunities in the development of solitary vegetation objects through CityGML ADE by including more detailed semantic and topological information. © Author(s) 2024.

Characteristics of Lantung Fiber and the Effect of Alkali Treatment and Water Absorption on the Mechanical Properties of Lantung Fiber Reinforced Composites

This study aims to investigate the effect of alkali treatment and water absorption on the mechanical properties of composites reinforced with lantung fibers. Lantung fibers were alkali-treated for one and two hours at room temperature using 4% and 6% sodium hydroxide solutions. Composite samples reinforced with lantung fibers were prepared by the hand lay-up method. The composite samples were soaked in distilled water at 60°C for 1080 hours or 45 days. All samples were subjected to tensile tests, flexural tests, and impact tests based on ASTM D638-02, D790-02, and D5942-96 standards. Alkali treatment was proven to be effective in improving the mechanical properties of lantung fiber reinforced composites. Lantung fibers soaked in 4% sodium hydroxide solution for 2 hours gave the highest mechanical properties. The initial absorption process of lantung fiber reinforced composites soaked in distilled water at 60°C was found to approach the Fickian diffusion behavior. Following an hour-long immersion in a 6% sodium hydroxide solution, lantung fibers had the lowest diffusion coefficient of 9.15x10-12 m2/s and the highest water content of 4.89%. The mechanical properties of lantung fiber reinforced composites showed insignificant decrease in impact, flexural, and tensile strength after water absorption so that lantung fiber is recommended for use in wet environmental conditions. © 2025 Jordan Journal of Mechanical and Industrial engineering. The design and construction of delivering announcements using a web-based SMS gateway aims to help overcome problems that often occur at pioneer airports; this is because when passengers want to travel, many passengers still arrive late to check-in, even though the passenger ticket has a notification for checking. -in 1 hour before Departure. If a flight's Departure is delayed or accelerated, passengers will only receive this information when they arrive at the airport, whereas if at the time the departure notification is delayed or accelerated, the passenger is still outside the airport or still on their way to the airport, as a result, they will definitely not receive the information. Testing voice announcements on parking, arrival, departure, delay, check-in, and waiting room services, as well as testing SMS broadcasts (30 user numbers and one airline), shows that the announcement application provides information through voice data recording and broadcasts SMS to passengers and families. Testing was carried out at Indonesian Pioner airport for 30 passengers for a week. The percentage of Ease of obtaining test voice information was 81.98%, and the percentage of Ease of obtaining broadcast SMS information was 83.1%. Implementing the announcement is feasible at pioneer airports with a percentage of 82.54%.
