Ornamental fish are a type of fish that live in freshwater or seawater habitats and are typically maintained for aesthetic purposes, often in ornamental ponds or as household pets. The diversity of colors, shapes, and patterns observed in ornamental fish presents a challenge in their classification. Therefore, a method capable of accurately recognizing the visual characteristics of these fish is required. The objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of two Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures, specifically VGG-16 and U-Net, using five distinct types of ornamental fish, namely Angel Fish, Betta Fish, Clown Fish, Gold Fish, and Guppy Fish. The dataset comprises 3.240 images that have been processed using TensorFlow and Keras on Google Collaboratory. The results demonstrated that U-Net demonstrated superior performance in segmentation, with an Average Intersection over Union (IoU) of 58.91 % and an Average Dice Coefficient of 73.72%. In contrast, VGG-16 exhibited signs of overfitting, as evidenced by lower evaluation metrics. To enhance the efficacy of the transfer learning model, further optimization is recommended.

In 2022, Indonesia initiated a pilot project to transition from liquid petroleum gas (LPG) stoves to induction stoves, targeting 8.2 million households by 2025. While LPG is considered a clean cooking fuel by the World Health Organization due to its low PM2.5 emissions, this program aims to further reduce CO2 emissions from cooking activities, aligning with Indonesia’s clean energy transition and 2060 Net Zero Emission goals. Throughout the program, doubts and criticisms arose among various sectors of society, particularly concerning the sustainability of this program. This research aims to determine and analyze the driving factors that support the sustainability of the induction stove transition program. Five sustainability aspects, namely, economic, social, environmental, technical, and institutional, were analyzed. A total of 315 Indonesian citizens participated as respondents in this research survey. The Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Model (PLS–SEM) method was utilized as the analytical approach for the study. The results revealed that nine factors significantly influenced program sustainability, with the strongest impacts from technology costs (path coefficient = 0.859), contextual factors (0.803), electrical infrastructure (0.792), and community perception (0.773). Economic sustainability was driven by technology costs and business opportunities (0.643), while environmental sustainability was strongly influenced by electrical infrastructure. Post-installation support (0.307) and financial management (0.391) significantly impacted technical and institutional sustainability respectively. These empirical findings improve previous research on the sustainability of an energy transition program, which provides insights for researchers and stakeholders in the energy management field, especially in developing countries, for policy determination and decision-making. © 2025, Aalborg University Press. This paper presents a GPU-based parallel implementation of the Enhanced Jaya (EJAYA) algorithm for solving large-scale systems of nonlinear equations. EJAYA is a gradient-free metaheuristic optimization scheme based on the population-based parameter-less Jaya algorithm that has recently been shown to be capable of solving nonlinear equation systems, a class of challenging problems that are difficult to solve by traditional approaches, particularly as systems become larger. The proposed parallel algorithm was implemented using the Julia programming language on a high-performance GeForce RTX 3090 GPU with 10 496 CUDA cores and 24 GB GDDR6X VRAM and was tested using a set of difficult scalable nonlinear equation system problems. The obtained results, with average speedups up to 122.25x, evidenced the capability of the proposed GPU-based parallel algorithm to meet the computational demands of the important class of problems under consideration. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Population-based metaheuristic algorithms have been used to solve challenging optimization problems, and numerous modifications to make these algorithms more efficient have been proposed. Jaya is one of these algorithms that has been modified and utilized to solve many hard optimization problems. One such modification to the original algorithm is the Modified Jaya (MJAYA) algorithm, which, like Jaya, uses information about the best and worst candidate solutions to determine the population’s search direction, thereby limiting and focusing the search. Recent research has demonstrated that the MJAYA algorithm is not effective at solving systems of nonlinear equations transformed into equivalent nonlinear optimization problems. Systems of nonlinear equations are probably the most difficult class of numerical mathematics problems to solve, which justifies the use of metaheuristic approaches in their resolution. This paper proposes a new population-based optimization algorithm, the Improved Modified Jaya (IM-Jaya) algorithm, which, despite being a generic metaheuristic optimization algorithm, is here used to solve systems of nonlinear equations. The proposed algorithm strikes a better balance between global exploration and local exploitation, allowing for a broader and more exhaustive exploration of the search space as well as a more efficient local search in its most promising regions. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

The battery thermal management system (BTMS) is essential for maintaining the battery's temperature and hence its performance. BTMS is classified into three types: active cooling, passive cooling, and hybrid approaches. Because of its simple design, lack of additional power, and even temperature distribution, PCM is extensively used as a BTMS as a passive cooling technique. PCM also has drawbacks like leak sensitivity and limited heat conductivity. This stimulates PCM performance enhancement attempts. Adding reinforcing material to PCM is a standard way to increase its performance. Aluminum nitride (AlN) and expanded graphite (EG) are commonly employed as fillers. The addition of EG and nano-AlN materials can improve the performance of PCM composites compared to pure PCM. Chemical interactions between these materials do not take place either. It is undeniably advantageous that these two materials may be combined into pure paraffin-based PCM for energy storage applications. The combined or hybrid system of BTMS is the optimum alternative for increasing heat transmission from the battery modules into the surrounding environment. The battery temperature will at good maintained well with the combination of 2 (two) and 3 (three) passive cooling methods or even combined with active cooling methods such as air-forced convection. In BTMS, the heat pipe is widely employed as a heat transfer improvement. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

Geotourism is rapidly experiencing rapid growth in developing countries, such as Indonesia, and it is a component of sustainable tourism. In addition, the country has many areas of geodiversity in cities or towns that potentially can become urban geotourism destinations, such as the Bandung Basin area. This region is characterized by geological features, including young volcanic rocks surrounding the mountains, alluvial fans, and lake deposits at lower elevations extending from Rancaekek to the base of Mount Lagadar in the western part of the area. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the respective roles of stakeholders in urban geotourism development. The study used literature review and interview methodology, where data was interpreted with stakeholder analysis, and complemented by descriptive analysis. The results showed that stakeholders were divided into primary (quadrant 1), key (quadrant 2), and secondary (quadrant 3) categories, each with distinct interests and degree of influence. As urban tourism expands, it presents ongoing opportunities to cultivate sustainable practices within these locales. The establishment of urban geotourism necessitates the identification and evaluation of engaged stakeholders. The subsequent planning and management initiatives for the Bandung Basin area can be enhanced through the active participation of stakeholders. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Robots have become increasingly important in a variety of life domains as a result of the rapid advancement of technology. Additionally, robots are employed in education as teaching assistants in science, art, and language courses. This research aims to explore the potential of robotic systems as a multipurpose tool for increasing cultural awareness, language proficiency, and communicative competence in the GenAI era. Language games, conversation simulations, and real-time feedback mechanisms are just a few examples of interactive scenarios enabled by virtual robot systems or tutor robots that enable immersive language experiences that go beyond the limitations of conventional schooling. This research contributes knowledge that explores how AI can be used to personalize language teaching according to the needs and learning styles of each student in higher education. The total population of undergraduate students involved in this research was 350 for the 2023 academic year, with 24 students selected purposefully based on sample characteristics from this group who were exposed to using AI for one semester. The research method used is a mix method with quantitative analysis of the results of surveys and interviews with students who are known to have given positive responses and proposes a comprehensive strategy for using AI robot technology in EFL classrooms, which can significantly improve effective learning outcomes. The survey results also show that if educators have a solid understanding of the relationship between linguistic acquisition and technological advances, they will be better prepared to design engaging, individualized lessons that prepare their students to use the language effectively in real-world contexts. The robot-assisted language learning (RALL) approach used in this study, with the integration of robots in the classroom, has the potential to change the way people learn languages to make it more interesting, fun, and motivating, increase engagement

Prospective informatics teachers in vocational schools (VS) must master content knowledge, pedagogical skills, and technology integration to achieve learning goals. Therefore, informatics teachers in VS need to innovate to increase students' creativity. However, many prospective informatics teachers experience difficulties in this regard. This research aims to develop and implement the Web-Based Microteaching (WBM) model to improve the teaching skills of prospective informatics teachers at VS. This study uses research and development methods with the ADDIE model approach. The research results show that the WBM model effectively improves prospective informatics teachers' teaching skills, especially in planning lessons and practising basic teaching skills. This innovation is a relevant learning solution in the digital era and positively contributes to the professional development of informatics teachers. The WBM model is an innovation to provide a more intensive and structured practical experience by utilizing web technology as the main media. Through web-based learning, prospective teachers can access material, exercises and feedback independently, which is expected to accelerate pedagogical mastery. © 2025 The Authors

Background: Propolis from Sulawesi's stingless bees (Tetragonula biroi) contains antioxidants, more flavonoids than propolis from Apis bees, and the antibacterial ability. Objective: to examine the antibacterial properties of Propolis Nanoemulsion Extract (PNE), which is extracted from the Celebes Stingless Bee (T. biroi), in relation to the periodontopathogen bacteria such as Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn), Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg), Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa), and Provotella intermedia (Pi). This investigation also examines PNE's phytochemistry, particle size analysis (PSA), and zeta potential. Methods: The maceration process with 96 % ethanol was used to create PNE from Celebes stingless bee (T. biroi), which was then subjected to zeta potential measurement and PSA. Phytochemical analysis was used to identify phytochemical constituents in the PNE (T. biroi). Diffusion zone, minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC), and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) were used to assess antibacterial efficacy against Aa, Pg, Pi, and Fn. Furthermore, the statistical analysis was used to extract the data. Results: Phenols, alkaloids, and flavonoids were identified;however, triterpenoids and saponins were not. Between 151.28 and 182.2 diameter nanometers (***) was the range of the PNE's diameter. At 1.56 % propolis (T. biroi) concentration, the MIC, MBC, and diffusion zone analysis performed better than at 0.76 %, with a significant difference (p:0.01;p < 0.05) to Aa, Pg, Pi, and Fn. Conclusions: The highest antibacterial activity against Aa, Pg, Pi, and Fn as periodontopathogen bacteria is demonstrated by alkaloids, flavonoids, and phenols in PNE from Celebes (T. biroi) at a concentration of 1.56 %. © 2025 The Authors
