In response to the escalating demand for electricity, the aging process and inherent failures in power lines have become unavoidable challenges in their operational integrity. This research addresses the imperative need for a robust method to detect damage in power insulator disc images, introducing a novel feature extraction technique grounded in color intensity profile transformation and ensemble learning. For the purposes of the research, a specific dataset was developed based on publicly available images of power insulators. The collection consists of 9232 images of insulator discs which included 2184 images of damaged discs. The discernible damages include breakages and burnouts. Two distinct analysis variants were employed. In the first variant (V1), two classification groups were selected: disc with damages and disc without damages. In the second variant (V2), three classification groups were selected: discs without damage, broken discs, and burnout discs. The described research was divided into two successive stages. In the first of them (S1), the transformed color intensity profiles for the prepared data set were built and various machine learning models for their classification were trained and evaluated. In the next stage (S2), previously developed, highest efficient machine learning models, were used to make the detection of various damaged types of overhead line insulator discs. For the first stage of research high-performance results and a high value of the F1 score parameters were obtained (F1 score = 0.999 for the first variant (S1V1) and F1 score = 0.992 for the second variant (S1V2). In the second stage of research and the first variant (S2V1), the highest result of the F1 score was 0.932 and for the second variant (S2V2) F1 score was 0.930. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Thyroid disorder is a significant source of formulation in medical classification and prognosis, with onset being a challenging assumption in medical study. The thyroid gland is a vital organ of our body. Thyroid hormone releases are responsible for metabolic regulation. Hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism are two of the most prevalent thyroid disorders that affect the thyroid’s ability to regulate the pace of the body’s metabolism. Data cleansing procedures were used to prepare the data to the point where analytics could be performed to determine the risk of individuals developing thyroid disease. In this paper, an optimal framework design employing LightGBM (Light Gradient Boosting Machine), Sequential Backward Selection (SBS), and a metaheuristic technique termed Whale Optimization (WO) plays a decisive role in detecting Thyroid disease. The objective of this research is to provide an impeccably clean and rational way to detecting thyroid disorder in humans. Numerous processes have been applied to thyroid data sets with astounding results, yet the data used for thyroid disease detection is redundant, inconsistent and contains missing feature values, as per our literature survey. The proposed effort would develop an expert advisory system based on the Opti-LightGBM architecture for the purpose of detecting thyroid disorders and initiating necessary medication promptly. The proposed Opti-LightGBM model yields an accuracy of 99.75% on Thyroid dataset and outperforms several state-of-art comparative models. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Bharati Vidyapeeth's institute of computer Applications and Management.

As more than 70% of reviews in the existing opinion summary data set are positive, current opinion summarization approaches are hesitant to generate negative summaries given the input of negative texts. To address such sentiment bias, a direct approach without the reliance on a specific structure is to generate additional data based on large language models to balance the emotional distribution of the dataset. However, large-scale data augmentation based on large language models faces an apparent disadvantage, the expensive costs. Therefore, in this paper, we propose LASS, a novel data augmentation framework based on both LArge and Small language models for debiaSing opinion summarization. Specifically, a small number of synthesized negative reviews is obtained by rewriting the positive text via a large language model. Then, a disentangle reconstruction model is trained based on the generated data. After training, a large amount of synthetic data can be obtained by decoding the new representation obtained from the combination of different sample representations and filtering based on perplexity degree and sentiment classification. Experiments have proved that LASS can effectively alleviate emotional bias, similar to using only large models, but in a more economical way. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.

With the prevalence of the Internet of Things(IoT)systems,smart cities comprise complex networks,including sensors,actuators,appliances,and cyber *** complexity and heterogeneity of smart cities have become vulnerable to sophisticated cyber-attacks,especially privacy-related attacks such as inference and data poisoning *** Learning(FL)has been regarded as a hopeful method to enable distributed learning with privacypreserved intelligence in IoT *** though the significance of developing privacy-preserving FL has drawn as a great research interest,the current research only concentrates on FL with independent identically distributed(i.i.d)data and few studies have addressed the non-i.i.d *** is known to be vulnerable to Generative Adversarial Network(GAN)attacks,where an adversary can presume to act as a contributor participating in the training process to acquire the private data of other *** paper proposes an innovative Privacy Protection-based Federated Deep Learning(PP-FDL)framework,which accomplishes data protection against privacy-related GAN attacks,along with high classification rates from non-i.i.d ***-FDL is designed to enable fog nodes to cooperate to train the FDL model in a way that ensures contributors have no access to the data of each other,where class probabilities are protected utilizing a private identifier generated for each *** PP-FDL framework is evaluated for image classification using simple convolutional networks which are trained using MNIST and CIFAR-10 *** empirical results have revealed that PF-DFL can achieve data protection and the framework outperforms the other three state-of-the-art models with 3%–8%as accuracy improvements.

It is necessary to collect data measured in open lands, whether for example for monitoring purposes or for border protection. The process of data transmission from active nodes and its next level to the cluster head (CH), followed by follow-up to arrive at the base station (BS), with safety and acceptability, are the main objectives of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The key benefits of wireless systems are low-cost system installation and loss-free data transfer. Weather conditions in the spacious area affect wireless data transmission that is done between sensor nodes in free space. This study attempted to ascertain the influence of atmospheric and meteorological conditions on the loss of data when utilizing the wireless data transmission systems in a wireless sensor network. For this reason, the volume of data transfer losses that happen in free space because of three types of weather conditions is the main discussion point. The meteorological criteria that can be considered in this research are temperature, clear weather, dust, and rain as the weather elements that affect the Iraqi climate. The correlation analysis's outcomes show that the amount of precipitation and the size of raindrops have a main effect on the losses of data transmission. From a practical point of view, there is no confirmed statistical evidence of the amount of loss in the volume of transmitted data as a result of the amount of rainfall with the use of different transmission frequencies. In this research, we designed an objective routing protocol called Fuzzy Clustering with Ant Colony System FCACS, which has been utilized as a simulation program using the MATLAB 2018b application. The practical results of the proposed protocol for data transmission in free space and under different weather conditions were examined, and the simulation results were compared with those of two well-known routing protocols, which are DEEC and Z-SEP. In today's world, where digital threats are on the rise, one particularly concerning threat is the Mirai botnet. This malware is designed to infect and command a collection of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The use of Mirai attacks has intensified in recent times, thus threatening the smooth operation of numerous devices that are connected to a network. Such attacks carry adverse consequences that include interference with services or the leakage of confidential information. To fight this growing threat, smart and flexible detection techniques are required to counter the new methods cyber attackers use. The aim of this research is to develop a resilient defense against Mirai botnet attacks. The Long Short Term Memory term (LSTM) and XGBoost combined have the best performance of 97.7% accuracy score. With this combination, the aim is to strengthen our cyber defenses against sophisticated and dynamically operating Mirai botnets to further enhance the security of our digital world. © 2024

Integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) are envisioned to be an integral part of future wireless networks, especially when operating at the millimeter-wave (mm-wave) and terahertz (THz) frequency bands. However, establishing wireless connections at these high frequencies is quite challenging, mainly due to the penetrating path loss that prevents reliable communication and sensing. Another emerging technology for next-generation wireless systems is reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS), which refers to hardware-efficient planar structures capable of modifying harsh propagation environments. In this article, we provide a tutorial-style overview of the applications and benefits of RISs for sensing functionalities in general, and for ISAC systems in particular. We highlight the potential advantages when fusing these two emerging technologies, and identify for the first time that 1) joint sensing and communications (S&C) designs are most beneficial when the channels referring to these operations are coupled, and that 2) RISs offer the means for controlling this beneficial coupling. The usefulness of RIS-aided ISAC goes beyond the obvious individual gains of each of these technologies in both performance and power efficiency. We also discuss the main signal processing challenges and future research directions that arise from the fusion of these two emerging technologies. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

In this paper, we present a methodology for drones for recognizing different types of objects in maritime areas. The concept and the aim is to assist the national maritime surveillance authorities in the identification of treats and the recognition of the exact type of the treat. The methodology relies on the use of deep learning networks and YOLO framework as well as regression models. The YOLO model detects where each object is and which label should be applied. In this way, object detection is subject to the analysis of Machine Learning-based approaches and Deep Learning-based approaches providing more information about the video or an image than traditional approaches to recognition. These approaches are used to identify groups of pixels that may individually belong to an object. This then feeds a regression model with the help of a convolutional neural network and more specifically, R-CNN, Fast R-CNN, Faster R-CNN and after that object detection algorithm approximates the location of the object and gives its label at the same time. The purpose of the application is to detect objects with an emphasis on identifying one or more targets of interest from data of a video or an image capture. An experimental study was conducted in real-world conditions and revealed quite interesting findings. © 2023 IEEE.
