Online Social Networks (OSNs) have become integral platforms for information sharing, attracting both legitimate users and spammers. Detecting and mitigating spam within these networks pose significant challenges due to the dynamic nature of content and user behavior. In this paper, we present a comprehensive comparative analysis of algorithms for tweet analysis, focusing on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) models. We evaluate these algorithms through sentiment analysis and multiple attribute analysis, utilizing diverse methodologies and datasets. Our study explores feed-forward neural networks, Bayesian classifiers, and transformer-based models for NLP tasks, achieving high prediction accuracy and insightful metrics such as precision, recall, and F1 score. Furthermore, we delve into multiple attribute analysis using Random Forest, Logistic Regression, and Gradient Boosting algorithms. Through a systematic exploration of various approaches, this work contributes to a deeper understanding of spam detection and sentiment analysis within the context of OSNs, paving the way for enhanced social network security and content analysis. © 2023 IEEE.

the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm is a famous metaheuristic technique that has been successfully applied in various optimization issues. It mimics the foraging conduct of ants to locate the shortest path among meals assets and their colony. Recently, ACO has been increasingly more applied for provider composition in multi-cloud environments. This involves the composition of offerings from different cloud carriers to satisfy the service necessities of a person. By way of using ACO, services can be correctly selected and composed from a couple of carriers, considering elements including cost, excellent, and availability. Channel pruning has been long studied to compress convolutional neural networks (CNNs), which significantly reduces the overall computation. Prior works implement channel pruning in an unexplainable manner, which tends to reduce the final classification errors while failing to consider the internal influence of each channel. In this article, we conduct channel pruning in a white box. Through deep visualization of feature maps activated by different channels, we observe that different channels have a varying contribution to different categories in image classification. Inspired by this, we choose to preserve channels contributing to most categories. Specifically, to model the contribution of each channel to differentiating categories, we develop a class-wise mask for each channel, implemented in a dynamic training manner with respect to the input image's category. On the basis of the learned class-wise mask, we perform a global voting mechanism to remove channels with less category discrimination. Lastly, a fine-tuning process is conducted to recover the performance of the pruned model. To our best knowledge, it is the first time that CNN interpretability theory is considered to guide channel pruning. Extensive experiments on representative image classification tasks demonstrate the superiority of our White-Box over many state-of-the-arts (SOTAs). For instance, on CIFAR-10, it reduces 65.23% floating point operations per seconds (FLOPs) with even 0.62% accuracy improvement for ResNet-110. On ILSVRC-2012, White-Box achieves a 45.6% FLOP reduction with only a small loss of 0.83% in the top-1 accuracy for ResNet-50. Code is available at https://***/zyxxμWhite-Box. © 2012 IEEE.

The Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) places a strong emphasis on advancing education within its domain. Various educational programs and resources have contributed to the professional development of CASS members for more than 20 years now. A major transformation within the Society was started in 2021 with a clear vision to become a premier educational resource within circuits and systems areas of interest. This article provides a comprehensive review of flagship educational programs and past initiatives. Insights from the lessons learned and future trends in the education ecosystem guided society's strategies and frameworks for improving and developing new educational products and services. The benefits of learning with the CASS program are presented, highlighting the Society's deep commitment to serving the community at large in educational pursuit for years to come. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

Fast reroute (FRR) mechanisms that can instantly handle network failures in the data plane are gaining attention in packet-switched networks. In FRR no notification messages are required as the nodes adjacent to the failure are prepared with a routing table such that the packets are re-routed only based on local information. However, designing the routing algorithm for FRR is challenging because the number of possible sets of failed network links and nodes can be extremely high, while the algorithm should keep track of which nodes are aware of the failure. In this paper, we propose a generic algorithmic framework that combines the benefits of Integer Linear Programming (ILP) and an effective approach from graph theory related to constructive graph characterization of k-connected graphs, i.e., edge splitting-off. We illustrate these benefits through arborescence design for FRR and show that (i) due to the ILP we have great flexibility in defining the routing problem, while (ii) the problem can still be solved very fast. We demonstrate through simulations that our framework outperforms state-of-the-art FRR mechanisms and provides better resilience with shorter paths in the arborescences. © 2023 IEEE.

Sport action recognition is an interesting area in computer vision. Categorization of sport actions, representing difficult and complex body postures, is regarded as a fine-grained visual classification problem. The Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have attained enhanced performance over conventional feature descriptors in recognizing various sport activities. In general, though decent improvement has been gained using deep learning for sport action recognition, however, recognition of women’s sport activities is not widely explored. Even, no benchmark dataset depicting women’s sport action with sufficient variations is available yet for study. Hence, fine-grained image classification of diverse sport categories involving female/women athletics requires immediate research attention. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes an image dataset comprising worldwide popular 50 sport categories of women players only. A simple deep learning model is proposed that extracts the high-level deep features using a backbone CNN. Then, these features are pooled from a collection of regular regions representing local discriminative information. The spatial pyramid pooling is applied for mining semantic information and enhancing feature aggregation for classification. The proposed method has achieved satisfactory performance on the Women Sports dataset using four standard backbone CNNs. Moreover, our method has achieved better accuracy on the Yoga-82 pose recognition dataset with a significant margin, e.g., 11.6% gain using ResNet-50 base CNN. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Cervical cancer is one of the most common causes of death among women worldwide. However, this fatal disease can be treated, and the mortality rate can be decreased if detected at an early stage. The Papanicolaou test is the gold standard for screening cervical cancer patients. However, the process of manual inspection is tedious and subject to manual errors. Thus, computer-based automatic screening is considered a viable alternative. To this end, in the present work, we have developed a novel system for classifying cervical cancer images as either normal or malignant. We have used the Herlev dataset in this study, which is the standard Pap smear image benchmark dataset. The proposed framework uses multiple base deep learning frameworks, namely Vision Transformer, Xception, VGG-19, VGG-16, and ResNet-101, for classification. Further, we have introduced a novel reward-based weighing technique to decide the weights of individual classifiers, which are, in turn, used to make decisions about the final class label of an input image using the weighted average technique. The proposed framework achieves an overall accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and AUC of 96%, 94%, 92%, 93%, and 94%, respectively, for the binary classification task that is normal vs. malignant. An elaborate study of the performance achieved by our proposed framework on the Herlev dataset shows it to be both robust and effective for the Pap smear image classification task. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

The term "cloud computing" refers to a vast network of linked, virtually hosted, and easily updatable computer resources. That are capable of consisting of a number of different apps and offering a number of different services to customers, and that have the potential to do so. Customers are required to pay for the cost of using the Services in accordance with the company's "pay-for-use only" policy. However, there are certain firms, such as Google Inc, that provide customers with particular free storage space even though the services provided by the company are limited, specifically with regard to the public cloud. A third-party service provider frequently owns and maintains the infrastructure required to run cloud computing services. But because more and more data and files pertaining to individuals and businesses are being stored in the cloud, worries have started to grow about how safe it actually is. Among these are the protection of software for virtualization and distributed computing, the safety of application software, the administration of identities, and the authentication and restriction of access. Nevertheless, efficient user authentication is the most essential need of cloud computing, as it limits unauthorized usage of a cloud server. Cloud computing has become increasingly popular in recent years. In this research, we present a new authentication method between users and online computing systems that is based on the suggested secure hash algorithm (SHA-3) and makes use of the lightweight Sosemanuk method. We created this technique. That system is going to be known as the SoSha3 system. The design that has been proposed for the system deals with data in three different sizes: 128, 256, and 512 bits. Mobile edge cloud (MEC) has emerged as a critical technology for enabling low-latency and real-time mobile device applications. However, an efficient resource allocation framework for improving the user experience in MEC with heterogeneous users is still missing, especially considering the recent sparks of AI-generated content applications. This paper proposes a double-closed-loop online resource allocation (DORA) framework for user experience improvement. This framework employs inner and outer loops to construct the optimal online allocation strategy and recommend a suitable strategy for different types of users, respectively. Based on the DORA framework, we put forth OR2A-HetU, an Online Resource Recommendation and Allocation algorithm for Heterogeneous Users, to solve this resource allocation problem. The OR2A-HetU algorithm proceeds sequentially and can converge to the optimal solution when the time horizon is sufficiently large. The numerical results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the baseline algorithms, and the user complaint rate decreases from 48.8% to 27.5% when the available resources increase. © 2024 IEEE.
